I'm done and I do's
Marinette passed back and forth, it was the night before Luka and Kates wedding. They were supposed to be there any minute to pick up their clothes. She was nervous this was the first big event she was going as My Lady Fashion, and the Agrest name was assigned with her now. What if it failed. Adrien watched from the couch trying not to laugh at his girl.
"Beautiful, you gonna wear a hole through the floor if you don't stop." He walked over to her and wrapped his arm around her. "Here let me hold you."
She fidgeted, "Adrien! I can't help it! This is a big event for me! And for you, this is the first public event I'm doing. And now everyone knows it's me and that we are partners! I can't help but be nervous." She wiggled trying to go to her passing.
"I think I have a better use for the nervous energy." he teased. He twirled her around and kissed her deeply. They got lost in the moment and didn't hear the knock on the door.
"Are we interrupting something" Kate giggled as she opened the door.
"Awk! No, of course not!" Marinette quickly pushed Adrien away from her. "Here the dress and suit are in the closet here." She quickly turned to hind her blushing face, she didn't care if they were soulmates making out in front of people was not her thing!
"Whatever you say, dear," Kate said taking the to clothing bags from her, "Lukas waiting in the car to take me to my hotel for the night. We will see you two tomorrow right?"
Adrien picked himself off the ground, "Ya we will be there, the wedding and the show."
"Great! I'll be sure to get a photo with my gorgeous designer!" Kate hurried out the door.
"Mari, you pushed me," Adrien smirked.
"I'm sorry, I panicked!" Mari didn't like his smirk, it reminded her of Chat. And sure he had left her alone but she didn't want to think about him when she was finally falling for Adrien. So out of habit, she backed away.
"Running away from me now? You must feel bad, or you don't and are daring me to make this a game?" Adrien chucked, walking closer to her, making her move away again. "So the question is, which one is it? And if you don't feel bad for pushing me should I make you feel bad?" she hit the wall.
"Adrien, come on stop this. You're just teasing me. It's not funny. You know I didn't mean anything by it!" She was laughing hiding her fear she couldn't help but feel like Adrien's face and demeanour right now reminded her of Chat.
He ran his finger across her cheek. "And what if I'm not teasing Mari? What if I want to have a little fun tonight, as a reminder that you chose me, so that way tomorrow when you watch your first love get married you don't break down again..."
Her eyes widened, "You really think I would do that? Do you really not believe me? After the summer we've had? You really think I don't I'm committed to you? I haven't cried over Luka once since I through his necklace away!" Now it was Adrien's turn to back away. "Adrien, I love you! I chose you! I don't care what kinda past you've had or who your dad has made you think you have to be! I want you to be the man you want you to be!"
"And What if I can't!? What if my Father has wrecked me! What if I always feel like I have to control you, manipulate you... to keep you..." He hit the floor, tears rolling down his cheeks. Ever since that night she told him she loved him, he sat in fear. He had been trained to be someone he was starting to hate.
"Oh, Adrien." Marinette rushed to him. "You are not going to lose me. I chose you. I've seen how you helped people this summer in ways I never have before. You've even started giving me freedom. Something only you can do." She caressed his cheek.
"What do you mean Mare?" he caught her hand and kept it on his cheek.
"Oh, of course, your father didn't tell you... My parents told me on my 18th birthday, that our love will be strong because I will want to follow you and you will give me freedom because you will know how I feel about everything." she smiled at him.
"Marinette, my dad has made me a dark person, but with you, there is so much light." He held her hand tightly.
"Adrien, I will help you find that light in you." She placed her hand on his heart. "We can do this together. Your gift is beautiful, you're gonna help so many young designers and models find a place. And I'm sure as you let more light in we will find even more ways to help."
"Mare, I love you and I'm sorry I was so harsh before, I'll get better, I promise." He pulled her closer to him.
"Wanna know a secret?" he cocked his head at her words, "I hate my gift. Always have. Likely always will." she sighed and relaxed.
"Oh. And I guess my actions didn't help any." He let her go and didn't reach out for her.
She giggled, Adrien looked over at her, how could she laugh at a time like this? "No, they really didn't. But I'm glad for it. Cuz now I have you." She reached over and took his hand in hers.
"Oh, Mare. I will do better for you. Together we will change our future not just the one I want." He leaned over and kissed her forehead.
"I know we will Adrien. Together we will change the world." she smiled at him and leaned her head on his shoulder. "But not tonight. Tonight I need to get some sleep and be ready to talk to people about the designs. It's gonna be a full day." She used his knee to get her self up then kissed his cheek. Adrien watched her walk up the stairs.
He knew that she was right, they could change the world. He got up and quietly slipped out the back door, walked over to the garden shed and slipped inside. He went down to the secret room, he looked at the space he created to manipulate and scare her. He found a box and packed up the outfit, the coloured contacts and the bell and tapped the box shut wrote Chat's stuff on it and sent a photo to Mari's Instagram account. Alright, Princess, you win. I'm done being Chat. Me and my soulmate are moving to Marseille, so you'll never see me again. He picked up the box and left the secret room. He moved the storage shelf to in front of the door. It was heavy he had a hard time pushing it. Hopefully, Marinette would never find it. He looked at the box, idiot, he should have left it in there. He wasn't about to move it again... He looked at the top shelf of the storage unit if he put the label to the back, it would look like the other boxes on the shelf. Satisfied with his hiding job, he went but into the house and went to sleep.
The next morning he woke up to Mari tapping on his door calling to him. "Adrien, you need to get up. We need to leave in an hour." In his half-asleep state, he miss heard her say we need to leave now. He shot up in bed jumped to the door opening it up quickly.
"Oh, my goodness Mare I'm so sorry! I overslept! We where suppose to meet Ayla and Nino for breakfast now we are gonna be late!" Adrien stood panting in the doorway without a shirt.
"Eep!" Marinette quickly looked away turning beat red. She may be a designer, but she was not used to working with topless men, and to be honest, Adrien was too good looking for his own good.
"Awe what's the matter? Like what ya see?" Adrien flexed showing off his muscles. Then he laughed, and the checked Marinette out. She was wearing her pale orange sundress, with a similar coloured flower belt at her waist. "Hey, it's your 'I love you dress.'" He smiled.
"Shut up, here is your tie. It matches, I made it last night before I went to bed. The press is gonna be at this thing, so I figured we'd better match perfectly. Now shower and be ready to leave in 45 minutes. We meet Nino and Alya in 60 and I don't want to keep them waiting." She tossed him the tie and walked away.
Adrien chucked at his girlfriend's flustered state, she'd been fine at the pool and the beach, but now she freaked out? He quickly got ready, gelled his wet hair to look somewhat neat. Then all he had left was the tie. He walked out, "So Mare confession time, I don't know who to tie a tie." He placed his hand on the back of his neck.
"What? You mean after all those business meetings and fashion events, you never had to tie a tie?" She stood there dumbfounded.
"Well Nathalie would tie the new ones once then I wouldn't untie them when I took them off, and she would always fix them for me." He blushed deeply embarrassed.
"Oh brother. Come here." They walked closer. "Alright once school starts next week, we are starting operation, Independent Adrien. Cooking lessons, cleaning lessons, basic need lessons, grocery shopping lessons, personal budgeting lessons and whatever else comes up along the way lessons." He opened his mouth to protest but he was cut off, "Nope no arguments, I will help you as your assistant but one day when your father passes the company to us, my role will be different and I won't be able to do everything for you and do you really want to be like your father and need people to wait in you everywhere you go?" She finished his tie and stepped back with a determined look on her face.
"Well your not wrong. I want to be a different man." He twirled her around and wrapped his arms around her stomach. "You know though Mare, if your gonna be bossy like that, maybe I should be bossy with you. You know have little fun like make you stand still while I shower you kisses or tickle you till you can barely breathe, or who knows what other fun games I could come up with to get back at you for being bossy." He whispered in her ear.
Marinette stepped away from him, "You can get back at me later mister. Right now we have a breakfast date to keep, and a wedding to get to." She took his hand and walked him to the car.
"Wait are you serious?" Adrien wasn't sure if she was teasing him.
She looked over her shoulder and winked. "That's for me to know and you to wonder."
They drove to the restaurant and enjoyed breakfast with their best friends. Then they headed to the wedding on the boat. Press gathered at the docks trying to get a glimpse of the bride and groom who were taking the music world by storm.
Kate looked great in the bridal version of her regular rocker look, and Luka was killing his shirtless suit look. Kate had been right the look worked for the event. The wedding had been beautiful and when the bride and groom disappeared to go take photos reported caught as may people as they could coming off the boat.
"Mr. Agrest and Miss Dupain-Cheng, please a minute of your time!" Nadja called to them.
"Only if you call Adrien and Marinette." Adrien laughed pulling Marinette close to him.
"Marinette, I heard you designed the dress and suit, is this true?" Nadja put the microphone in her face.
"Yes, Nadja it is. We used their band looks as inspiration. So it was really easy. I love doing looks that so clearly represent each person so well." She smiled.
"She worked really hard on them, on top of designs for other clients and prepping for class and our internship. But Nadja we must run, her parents are expecting us for a family photo shoot at their place." He took her hand and ran off tot he car with her.
The two hang out with her parents and Nino and Ayla came over for supper before the concert. Then the three couples headed over the stadium for the concert. Because she been the designer, Luka and Kate gave them four VIP tickets, and Tom and Sabine had baked for the wedding so they had also been given VIP tickets as well.
The six enjoyed dancing and singing and taking pictures together. Adrien loved feeling a part of a family. Sure he'd always been close with Ayal and Nino, but having Tom and Sabine's approval made him feel apart of something.
The show had been great, and Marinette had been able to enjoy the music without tears or any sad feelings. After the show was done, Adrien and Marinette drove home. As they walked through the door, Marinette let out a yawn. "Oh, my little lady is tired. Maybe getting back at you for being bossy earlier isn't fair tonight."
Mari rolled her eyes, "Please I wasn't that bad, it's hardly worth getting back at me for." she teased.
"And what if I disagree?" he teased back. "It's not like you could leave if I told you to stay." he laughed.
"And what would the point be?" She turned and poked his nose.
"Simple little lady, reminding you I'm in charge." he leaned in close as if daring her to argue.
"Right cause I need the reminder." She laughed turning to walk up the stairs.
"Stop, and turn back around," Adrien said with a laugh.
With a degree of sass, she turned and placed her hand on her hip, and rolled her eyes, "Oh so you were serious about this?" She had learned over the years of being obedient, that just because she had to do everything she was told did not mean she had to be happy about everything and she was allowed to show her displeasure.
"I might have been if you're not going to be mad at me after." He didn't move closer. Just in case she was not in the mood.
"Depends on what you had in mind." she brought her hand to her mouth and bit her nails nervous.
"Oh silly girl, that's for me to know and you to wonder," he said with a wink.
"I assume it's not inappropriate and it won't hurt me?" she looked over at him carefully.
"Never, though with what I have in mind you might have to wear a scarf tomorrow when we go to that photoshoot." He said walking closer to her. "Don't move," he whispered as his mouth found her neck. She giggled and laughed, she couldn't help it. Sure when Chat had given her a hickey she had hated the feeling but Adrien it was different.
Once he was done, she looked up at him, "and how is that suppose to keep me from being bossy?"
"Oh I never said it was supposed to keep you from doing it, just that I was going to get back at you," He leaned down and whispered in her ear, "and who knows maybe driving a little bit crazy in the prosses. Goodnight my girl, I'll see you in the morning." He softly chuckled, leaving Marinette slightly flustered.
She looked over hershoulder at her boyfriend and shook her head, he was something else, now shehad to go look in the mirror and see how difficult it was going to hide ittomorrow.
