Chapter 22
Percy
Pain. All I feel is pain. It's like someone dragging two knives down your back over and over again. Then you just start sputtering out blood. I couldn't breath, instead I just kept coughing. Blood. It's all I see. Spots of blood on the couch, spots of blood on my hands, and spots of blood on the floor.
"Stick with me Percy!" I heard a familiar voice. I drowsily looked around the room, and saw wires on the ground, machines spread throughout the room, and a puzzled Apollo running around the room, checking every single machine.
"Ap-Apoll-Apollo?" I managed to cough out. Eventually the coughs seized, and I just had ragged breaths escaping my mouth.
"Save your energy Percy," Apollo said, "If you die, Annabeth is going to kill me."
Annabeth. She's worried about me. I'm making her suffer by just staring at me. Tears swelled up in my eyes, worried for my wise girl. It's my fault she's super upset.
"I want to see Annabeth," I demanded.
"Percy, you need a lot of rest. I have a lot of work to do, Annabeth is sleeping. Will told me she was super exhausted by staying up." Apollo said, while spreading some cream onto my back. I winced as Apollo's hands made contact with my back.
"It's my fault," I chocked back a sob. She shouldn't be exhausting herself for me.
"It's not, Percy. You would do the same for her. Heck, you wouldn't even leave the room." Apollo chuckled lightly to himself.
It was true. I would never leave Annabeth's side. I would take a bullet (A/N: Or sword. Whatever floats your boat.) for her.
Will busted into the room, and when he spotted me, his eyes filled with relief. He took a deep breath and knelt next to me.
"Hey Perce." Will smiled.
"How's Annabeth?" I quickly asked, expecting an answer.
"She's okay. She is taking a little nap. Man, I got to tell you, you two are close. You never give up do you?" Will shook his head while lightly chuckling.
I released a sigh of relief, glad that she had rested. Annabeth was everything to me. I couldn't let anything happen to her.
After a five hours of boredom, Will went to go check on Annabeth. I needed to see her. I can't stand any more pain and suffering. I just want Annabeth.
When Will came back, I straightened up a bit, even though I'm on my stomach. I turned my head at the door, looking for the curly blonde haired girl. And there she was. Right behind Will with small circles under her eyes. Her curls were a bit messy, and her shirt was stained with drops of blood. My blood.
"Annabeth," I croaked. Tears swelled in my eyes when she stepped out of the room. Why did she leave? Will went right behind Annabeth and was out of sight.
I waited for a few seconds until Annabeth ran back into the room, and hugged me tightly. She was careful not to hurt my back.
"Percy! Oh gods." She cried. I hated seeing her cry.
"Hey wise girl." I smiled, taking in the scent of lemons from Annabeth.
"Gods Percy, you are always the one who is getting h-hu-hurt!" She bursts into more tears.
"Hey, Annabeth it's not your fault. It's the fates. I must be really irresistible, huh?" I earned a laugh from Annabeth. Gods, that laugh. It always made me amused that I can make Annabeth laugh.
"I love you so so much Percy. Gods you can't imagine." Annabeth brushed the hair back away from my eyes.
"I love you more." I smirked.
"I love you the most." Annabeth challenged.
"I love you to the moon and back."
"I love you to the universe an back."
Dang it. I'll let her win. Annabeth chuckled and kissed me softly on my lips. I kissed back. When she parted away, I lingered for more. She pressed her hand on my cheek, and looked into my eyes. Sea green to stormy grey. She held my hand.
"You'll get better, right?" Annabeth started rubbing circles on the surface of my hand. Both Will and Apollo turned to her, with a solemn expression. I looked at them nervously.
"Right?" Annabeth got up and turned to Apollo and Will.
"Um, Annabeth," Will started walking towards her to give her a hug, but she backed away.
"You said he'll get better! He will, right?!" She yelled.
"We are trying our best, Annabeth." Apollo suddenly took interest to look at his feet.
"Hey, I'll be fine. Just a couple days and I'll be out. Hopefully," I murmured the last word to myself.
Annabeth bent down on her knees and started crying. I wanted to get up and comfort her. This is my fault. I'm causing her pain. I hated seeing her cry and in that position.
I used my hands to push me up, but the pain was unbearable. Do this for Annabeth, I thought. I pushed the pain out while I slowly got off the couch.
"Percy! Get back on that couch!" Apollo yelled at me.
Annabeth looked up and saw me struggling to get up. When I finally stood, I crumpled to the ground. I huffed in one more breath and crawled towards Annabeth that was still bent on her knees. I hugged her tightly, ignoring the pain. Annabeth cried into my shoulders. I didn't want to move. I had to be there for Annabeth, and it would just be super painful to get back up.
"Look, I don't want to ruin your little moment, but Percy, get back on the couch!!" Apollo yelled and tried to move me towards the couch.
"Fine." I got up, but I crumpled back to the floor.
"Will don't just stand there, help me!" Apollo was trying to drag me back onto the couch.
Will got out of his state of shock, then helped Apollo get me back on the couch. When I was back on the couch, on my stomach, they left the room.
"P-Percy," Annabeth was sitting on the ground, right next to the couch, holding my hand.
"Yea Annabeth?" I asked.
"Promise me that you'll never leave me." Tears swelled in her eyes once more.
"Annabeth, I can't promise you that I can stay forever. But what I can promise you is to always love you, and never move on. I'll fight for you, and I'll do anything for you." I pressed my hand on her cheek, looking deeply into her eyes.
"I love you seaweed brain," Annabeth smiled.
"I love you too," I smiled back.
