"Evelyn, stay with me!  You are at the hospital-"

The voice fades into the void. I was encased in a glass box, seeing everything, seeing every panicked expression that loomed over me, the worry and sweat on their faces, but couldn't hear or feel anything. At times I would lose consciousness.

The lid of the box opened; Rows of light fixtures zoomed past me.  My vision tunneled at times.  The sound of a cart rolling was muffled by the sounds of squeaky shoes on tile and panting.

"-You've lost a lot of blood-"  A woman said.  Bright auburn hair bounced in her ponytail as she ran.  She was pushing something as she spoke.

My body felt like goo.  I was slipping between the cracks of here and there. One foot was on the threshold of now, and the other was on the slippery slope of the unknown. My hands were cold, but my body was encased in a flame burning so strong I didn't understand why nobody had caught fire from being in the same general area. Was this what dying felt like?  I closed my eyes.

What's happened to me?

"Eve," a new voice rasped.  I opened my eyes to the sound of him. I almost cried out at the sound of him. Safe. I would be safe because my angel is here. He saved me in my darkest hour.  He was the only thing I knew.

"Stay awake for me, please Eve.  I've never lost someone, don't let me lose you."  Even with my vision blurred I could still see that this man was not a doctor.  He looked more worried than anyone else. He clutched the railing of my bed, running with me. He had a grey sweatshirt on and he was pale.  He was like a ghost.

"She's going to be okay Roan," another voice murmured. 

I would be safe if he is at my side.

"Roan?" I rasped. My breathing hitched and my heart was struck with lightning again.

My eyes rolled back into my head as my body started to violently shake on the bed.
