Chapter ----: Dishes, Scary Movies, and a...
After Roan and I had finished cleaning all of the dirty dishes we made, we headed to the basement to watch some horror movies. Roan sat a respectful two feet away from me on the couch. Such a gentleman right?
I found myself slightly annoyed with him for sitting so far away on the couch. On the other side, I was happy that he had finally gotten the inkling that I didn't like him through his thick skull. After a long and tiring argument we finally decided to watch the fist Saw movie. Considering I don't like any scary movie that is about ghosts or demonic entities that are trying to possess someone's body, Saw was perfect. I didn't really particularly like the Saw movies either, but it was better than the alternative. Watching people being hacked to death was fine with me for today. After all, I could relate to them. I personally thought that the people that were participating in the Saw game could easily be saved by using common sense, or just thinking with their pea sized brain. I mean, who cuts off their foot and then realizes that they cut off the wrong foot? Psychotic people. Or possibly idiotic people. I couldn't decide which one was worse. In the middle of the movie I felt myself slowly drifting off to sleep, only to be woken up by Roan who was shaking my arm.
"What do you want?" I mumbled in annoyance. I shifted away from him, clutching my blanket tighter to my body.
"Are you...are you falling asleep?!" he asked me in a baffled voice.
"Maybe..." What's so wrong with that dude?
"How in the hell can you fall asleep to a movie like this?! Literally people are hacking themselves into bits!" he said in an astonished voice.
"I don't know. I just embrace my inner psycho and fall asleep? The Saw movies aren't scary to me," I said in a confused voice. I looked over at him, taking in his worry filled eyes and the dumbfounded expression that was etched on his face. They wouldn't scare you either if you went through it, I silently added.
"Are you crazy?" he questioned. "Because I know full grown men who cry while watching these movies Evelyn. Full grown men that are cops to be exact!"
"Okay, if full grown men cry while watching this movie, then they might just be a woman. Their game is weak. I'm seventeen years old and I have the balls to watch this load of shit," I replied.
"They are not feminine! They are manly men..."
"I have a feeling that you are talking about yourself," I giggled.
"No I'm not," he argued.
"Yes you are."
"Nope."
"Okay, then I will just turn the movie back on." I said in a chirpy voice while reaching for the remote. "Oh look at that! That guy is about to be cut open and he's still alive!" I said it as if it was something that I saw every day. Roan quickly reached over and tugged on the remote. I scowled at him, wrenching it back towards me. He shot me an icy glare, tugging even harder on the remote.
"Let go!"
"You let go!"
"No!"
"Then I'm not going to!" he stubbornly said.
"This means war Carter!" I warned him. Before I knew it we were having a tug of war contest with the remote. Soon, I succumbed to him, watching the remote being wrenched from my tiny squirrel hands.
"Finally!" Roan sighed. "I'd do anything to keep from watching that morbid movie."
"Aww, is the big bad cop still terrified of a slightly gruesome movie?" I mocked, a smile playing at my lips.
"What? Of course not. Never was scared." He denied.
"Mmmmmhummm," I said in a disbelieving tone.
"I'm serious," he said. "I don't get scared; I'm a cop."
"Oh bullshit. Cops get scared all the time. I am being serious too." I raised my eyebrows. He was totally afraid of this stupid movie. He was just too "manly" to admit it.
"You don't speak a word of this to anyone. Ever. Okay?" he threatened me. I knew it! He totally cracks under pressure.
"Sure. Whatever you say dude," I giggled.
"I'm being serious Evely-" before Roan could finish I heard the front door of my house burst open, creating a loud thud that seemed to echo throughout the whole house. I found myself suddenly terrified. The only person with a spare key was sitting next to me on this stupid white couch.
