Chapter 18: I Know The End

"I don't know how we can stop them.  Max left town before they even came here.  He can't help us".  David rubbed his hand over his jaw.

"You say that Antonio Ricci is powerful and fears nothing, no?"  Cecily asked from where she stood behind a table, crushing a substance in a bowl.

"Yes".  David said easily.

"I've known him".  Ophelia spoke up.  "We've all read his history.  For gods sake, he was in newspaper and even in books.  He was horrible, even back then".  Ophelia went on.

"Then you know.  You should all know".  Cecily started calmly.  "That he does fear someone".

"Cecily, darling.  Haven't you-someone.  Did you say someone?"  Paul asked.

Cecily nodded.  "His sister, Amelia". She answered.

"What?" Paul asked, giving her a 'you serious' look.

"Why would he fear his sister? Is she a vampire too?" Marko asked.

"She's dead. Antonio shot her a month after becoming a vampire". Cecily explained with ease, her tone soft.

"Lady, you make no sense". Paul shook his head at the blind witch. "How can he fear someone that is dead?"

"If you stopped interrupting. You would know". Dwayne said lowly, passing Paul to help Cecily.

Cecily hummed happily at Dwayne's comment, smiling. "Impatience doesn't get you far, Paul". She pointed out. Cecily grabbed the bowl of the crushed substance and carefully made her way around the table where Dwayne was there to take her arm.

Dwayne led her to the small fire that he made and once he did, let go.  Cecily took a few steps closer, feeling the heat of the fire.  "Amelia was nothing like her brother.  People mistake that.  No one trusted a Ricci due to Giuseppe and his son, Antonio. Half the time, people didn't know about Amelia. She stood in their shadow". Cecily walked around the fire, stirring the powdered substance between her fingertips.

Cecily then came to a stop. "Amelia had a feeling her brother was going to kill her so she asked for help. Amelia knew what her brother was and did research of her own, finding a witch that was in Chicago, calling for her. The witch came, but couldn't help Amelia with stopping her fate.  There was one thing she could do though.  Amelia could make a deal".  Cecily paused for a moment.

"The deal would grant Amelia no peace after she died.  She would be waiting until the moment she is brought back to earth to stop her brother.  Amelia was willing to do this.  Of course, devastated by death and what the deal had to offer but she wanted her brother to never hurt anyone again.  No matter how long it took". Cecily grabbed a handful of the powder substance in her hand.

"How do you know this?" Marko asked.

Cecily moved her head into the direction of his voice. "Because I was the witch she called for". Cecily than through the powder into the fire, the flames growing higher.  Some flames swarmed into the middle.

Cecily stepped closer, muttering something in Latin lowly.  She handed the bowl over to Dwayne and then rolled up her right sleeve up.  She flames swarmed some more, slowly spinning into a circle.  The wind from the flames started to pick up and soon a warm breeze ran through the cave.

Cecily started to speak faster as the breeze whipped through her platinum hair.  Her right arm slowly reached into the swarm of flames, grabbing something in the middle and holding it there.  She slowly finished the spell and the flames died down into a small fire.  The flames disappeared from her arm.

There was no sign of injury on Cecily's arm.  In her hand, dangling, was a silver sixpence pendant  necklace.  "This belonged to Amelia.  It was given to her by her mother when she was young.  It is a symbol of good luck".  Cecily explained, turning away from the fire.

"Ophelia". She called.

Ophelia made her way over, soon standing in front of Cecily.  "Use this when the time is right.  You'll know. You will need to throw it into a body of water in order for Amelia to awaken". Cecily explained to her.

"Why a body of water?" Marko asked.

Cecily placed the necklace into the palm of Ophelia's hand. "Antonio shot Amelia in the head and disposed of her body into the Chicago River.  The spell I made was to connect Amelia with this necklace.  Once it makes contact with a body of water, she comes back to finish her debt".  Cecily explained further.

"This is where I leave you all.  Good luck".  She gave a small smile before heading to the exit.

"Thank you Cecily".  David thanked her as she passed him.  Cecily placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it.

"Of course".

"I'll walk you out".  Dwayne then chimed in.  Cecily looped her arm with his, patting his arm.

"You were always the chivalry one, Dwayne".  Cecily smiled widen.  Dwayne smiled at that comment while Paul let out an obnoxious laugh.

Ophelia looked at the necklace in her hand, her thumb running over it, rubbing some of the ash off.

1923, Chicago

It was 3 days since Amelia Ricci met Cecily.  She touched the brand on her left inner wrist, knowing her fate to not be at peace in the afterlife was sealed.

It was a month since Antonio killed their father and took full charge of everything.

Amelia could run.   She could've.  But she didn't.  It was the sacrifice she was making...and she went get far.

The sacrifice to die young.

The sacrifice to not be at peace in death.

She needed to do this for one day in the future he would not be able to hurt anyone ever again. Amelia sat at the chair of her bureau, fixing a few pieces of her hair as she looked into the mirror.

She touched her bare neck where her necklace once was. Amelia just looked at herself in the mirror.

A banging sound was heard downstairs.

Amelia flinched from the sound but gained her composure. She straightened her posture and looked at herself in the mirror again before looking down at her bureau and fixed a few items. She moved her hairbrush a certain way and then closed up some makeup.

Furniture being thrown around was then sounded along with grunts and then a scream.

Amelia let out a shaky breath, picking up her red lipstick and applying it on her lips as she looked into the mirror.

A gunshot went off from down the hall.

A tear slipped from Amelia's eye and it ran down her cheek as she finished applying the lipstick. Amelia placed it back down, wiping the tear streak away.

The sound of footsteps sounded and then her door slowly opened. Amelia looked in the mirror seeing Mouse in the doorway, placing his gun back in his holster.

"Hello, Mouse". Amelia greeted as nothing bothered her in the world.

"Hello, Amelia".  Mouse greeted back.  A sad look on his face.

Amelia and him stared at one another through the mirror.  "Antonio down there waiting for me?"  She asked.

"Yes, Amelia".  Mouse answered.

Amelia took a deep breath, nodding as she stood up.  Amelia tucked her chair in before walking over to her white heels.  "Give me a moment".  She told Mouse.

"Yes, miss".  Mouse waited and watched her put on her heels.  Once Amelia did, she walked past him and out the door.  Mouse following behind.

Amelia walked down the hall, carefully stepping over a dead man and making her way down the stairs.  Soon enough she rounded the corner to the living room where there were a few more dead men.  There, stood her brother with a gun in his hand with two other men.

"There's my lovely sister".  Antonio smirked wickedly.

Amelia looked around the mess of the room.  "Was it necessary to destroy the house?"  She asked.

Antonio only smirked wider.

"How did you get invited in here anyways, Antonio?" Amelia questioned.

Antonio chuckled, clicking the rough of his mouth with his tongue. "Pops".

Amelia hummed. She just looked at him. Of course she was scared but she refused to show him. She refused to have him listen to her heart. She was keeping herself calm and collected.

"How does it feel to know that the men by your side are too scared to leave?" She asked, referring to Mouse and the others.

Antonio chuckled. "Fantastic". Antonio answered with ease.

Amelia smiled slightly of her next comment she was about to make.  "Fair.  But how does it feel to know the men here that are now dead would rather be by my side than yours?  Also, you do know some-most of the men now would still rather be on my side".  Amelia said and Antonio only gave her an annoyed look.

He hated that.

He hated that idea and he knew what men would prefer to be on her side.  Mouse was one of them.  He would deal with them when the time was right.

Antonio's annoyed look then dropped when he saw the mark on her wrist.  He looked at it then her face.  "What did you do, Amelia?"  He asked in a low voice.  He face then shifted into anger.  "What the fuck did you do!"  He shouted, spit flying from his mouth.

Amelia was now the one that smirked.  "What needed to be done".  Amelia let out a small laugh.  Maybe it was because she accepted her fate.  Or maybe it was because her brother was now scared.

"How did you even".  Antonio shook his head.

Amelia tilted her head.  "Just like how you got what you wanted.  I know people".  Amelia tilted her head for a moment.

Antonio rubbed his hand over his mouth in frustration.  With his other hand holding the gun tightly by his side.

He was scared.

She was the one that could stop him now,
even after her death.

"I will always be there".  Amelia started.  "I will never let you go". Amelia held her head up high as Antonio looked at her with the same angry look.

"We'll see about that, sister". Antonio raised his gun and fired a single shot.

The bullet landed in the middle of her forehead. Amelia's eyes rolled in the back of her head before her body collapsed to the ground.

Mouse and one other man flinched ever so slightly, looking away from the scene.

"Leave". Antonio told the three.

No one moved.

"I said LEAVE!"

The men slowly left the house. Once they did. Antonio looked at his sisters corpse. Antonio placed his gun on the table and walked over to Amelia's corpse, squatting down a few inches from her.

"I always hated you". Antonio whispered to her.

Antonio removed his eyes from her, moving his left sleeve up, seeing the same symbol Amelia had on her wrist.

"Bitch". He hissed.

Soon after, Antonio took her body to the Chicago and tossed her like she was nothing. She was nothing to Antonio.

And even in history she was barley spoken of. It was all about Giuseppe Ricci or Antonio Ricci. Amelia was either mentioned briefly or never.
