The Lost Boys Curse

The four walked down the yellow brick road. Otto had managed to get carried by Fiona.
"Anyone hungry?" He asked. Carter felt his own stomach rumble. Georgia pointed to a white wooden fence on the side of the road.
"Look, corn!" She announced. The twins jumped the fence and wandered into the field. Carter put his foot on the lower strut and stepped over. The three started to stuff corn cobs into their pockets.

The voice made Carter drop the cob he was holding.
"Shoo! Go away you-you stupid birds!"
The twins pulled their hoods on, concealing their faces and walked towards the noise. Carter followed, pulling his hoodie over his head. He didn't think it looked quite as impressive.
"I can see the corn moving," The voice called, "And if your not birds, th-than we don't like thieves here either!"
Fiona turned to Georgia. "Does that sound familiar?" She asked. Georgia nodded.

The three stepped onto a clearing. In the middle was a large wooden "T" shape, on which hung a scarecrow. He looked pretty much the same as the one Carter had seen before. His eyebrows floated above his large black button eyes. A seam opened where his mouth would be.
"Who goes there?" He yelled. The girls took their hoods off.
"Felix?" Fiona asked.
A shocked expression flashed across the scarecrows face. "Girls?"

The girls sprang forth and began to untie the scarecrow.
"So yeah, the witch got angry cause I stole her corn," he said, "So this was my punishment."
"Does the witch still live here?" Georgia asked.
"No." Felix sighed. "There are new owners. They aren't much better though."
The girls nodded. Carter felt a bit awkward listening in on their conversation.
Georgia turned to him. "Hey England, give us a hand."
Carter nodded and jogged over. Felix the scarecrow looked down at him.
"Are you really from England?" He asked.
Fiona scoffed. "Not you too."
Carter nodded as he tried to untied the rope around his middle. "Yep, my names Carter Darling."

Felix fell directly on top of him. The girls pulled him to his feet and helped him get his balance. He held out his arm to help Carter up. Instead of fingers, Felix had five long, thick pieces of straw. Carter grabbed it and felt the straw wrap around his arm and was pulled to his feet. Just as Felix was about to speak, a man stepped into the other side of the clearing. He looked from Felix, to the twins, to Carter, then back to Felix.
"Run!" Felix yelled. He staggered as he ran into the corn field, his fabric arms flailing behind him, loose pieces of straw flying out of his sleeves. Carter ran after him. He heard Otto hiss behind them.

Carter ducked into the corn. The bolt flew into the corn cob next to him, sending it flying off its stem. He looked I front of him to see a large brown object hurtling towards his face. The chunk of material hit him face, blinding him. Carter ran straight into the fence, stumbling backwards into the corn. He looked at the large felt hat that had hit him. It was Felix's. He reached over and grabbed Otto he tossed him over his shoulder. There was a thud against the grass on his other side. "Just so you know, I didn't land on my feet." He heard Otto call.

Carter grabbed the top bar of the fence pulled himself upwards. He was about to swing his second leg over the fence, when something sunk into the base of his shoe, the force knocking him over the fence. Carter spat some grass out of his mouth and picked himself up off the ground, pulling the crossbow bolt out of the rubber sole of his shoe.
"I don't appreciate being thrown." Otto said as he walked towards him. Carter stood up. "Where are the others?" He asked. Otto looked around. Carter looked over his shoulder to see four thick pieces of straw grasp the fence. Felix fell flat on his face. The twins jumped down on either side of him and helped him up. Georgia walked past Carter. She winked at him.

Felix stumbled towards Carter.
"Johns grandson. Has it really been that long?" He asked.
Carter nodded slightly.
"You know John once rescued me from pirates once." Felix continued.
"Captain Hook?" Carter asked. Felix looked shocked.
"Why would Hook capture us?"
Carter looked at Felix. "Isn't he evil?" He asked.
Felix laughed. "Captain Hook is the most reasonable pirate I've ever met. Sure he's done some evil things like kidnap Tiger Lily, but he's not completely evil."
Fiona cleared her throat. "Emerald City," she said, "This way."
The group once again started down the road, Felix continuing to tell Carter about the adventures he'd had with his grandfather.
