Chapter 21- Waiting In The Wings

"What's wrong?" Haru asked Juno who trapped her between herself and the wall. You felt a dangerous aura from the wolf, so you immediately got yourself together and ran down the stairs.
"This is a bad scene to look at. A carnivore closing in on a herbivore. We don't want any trouble, now do we?" You let your voice boom out, making the two girls turn their heads at you.

"(Y/N)!" Haru smiled, feeling all warm in her stomach. Juno furrowed her eyebrows as she remembered you were involved with saving Haru.
"(Y/N), you don't belong in this conversation," She manage to say, and you just crossed your arms and continued to walk down the stairs.

"Yeah, but if I see my friend being confronted, I have her back," You said, and pushed Haru behind you, being in between her and Juno.
"You can't decide on who someone loves, that's a fact that I have experienced a long time ago, so don't make competition with something that might never happen," You sternly said, feeling like a parent.

Juno simply stared, until she leaned in to sniff you. The herbivores side of your is screaming to run, but your carnivore side says to fight competition.
"I was right..." She mumbled as Haru gripped your hand and squeezed it lightly. Juno stood back up and thought for a moment.

"They didn't had sex with you..." She muttered, and you turned your head to Haru.
"Haru, you best go to tend the flowers for the festival, I'll deal with this," You whispered to her, and she warily look at you and Juno.
"You sure?" She asked, and you nodded. She quietly shuffled away and took off around the corner.

Juno then turned to you, and you gave her a soft look.
"Love at this age is crazy Juno, so be careful on who you fall in love with. You either get together, or lose them, you can't start over with that person," You explained as you fiddled with the insides of your pockets.

"But-... I love them," She mumbled sadly, and you carefully patted her hand.
"I know that feeling. Just be careful with that, kid," You said and turned to walk away, fiddling with your toy ladybug.

"Be careful,"

"Back off Kai, I got this," You hissed at the weasel as he tried to pick up the box from your hands.
"(Y/N) please, you and Legoshi can't work lights with your injuries! It's a busy time, and everyone are too busy to deal with anymore problems!" Mai frantically said while you and Legoshi looked at each other.

"Other?" Legoshi tilted his head.
"Louis disappeared, so we had to make a lot of changes," Sanu explained sadly.
"Top student is gone?" You asked, feeling uneasy about the coincidence.
"We tried to contact, he didn't answer. So unlike him," Sanu sighed before leaving.

'This is bad. I have to find him, I'll let (Y/N) rest,' Legoshi thought, and heard the tent flaps shuffle.
"Juno!" You looked up, and your eyes widened at the sight of the younger wolf. Her outfit was beautiful, and her makeup was absolutely amazing.
"Woah," You mumbled, before respectfully looking away from her.

"I had them change my costume and make up a little bit, and since Louis isn't with us, we shall make this performance the best it could be!" Juno beamed with a smile, and Bill grinned while he placed his hand on your shoulder.
"All right! Let's bring it our all (Y/N)!" He cheered, and you winced at the sudden action.

"Yeah... Break a leg Juno," You smiled softly at her, and she shyly rubbed her neck a little.
"Thank you," She mumbled, and you noticed Legoshi leaving the tent.
'Is he going so early? He told me after the performance,' You thought, but then heard Sanu's voice.

"Alright everyone, places!"

You must say, Juno was beautiful on stage. The way she danced around made you smile, thinking about how bad you are at dancing. You stood with the crowd as you lifted up your toy ladybug and stared at it for a moment.
'Carnivores are strong and beautiful. It's what makes half of who I am, and the other is nothing but a coward. That's why I freeze up,' You thought angrily.

'But I won't now. I gotta find those two,' You turned away from the crowd and looked around to find that large wolf and tiny rabbit, until you bumped into someone.
"Haru," You said, and she looked up and smiled at the sight of you.
"(Y/N)," You both turned to see Legoshi walked up to you both.

"This is it, huh?" You said, and Haru shuffled her shoes against the ground as Legoshi hummed.
"Well... who wants to go first?" Haru said, and you shrugged.
"Guess I'll go," She muttered, and took a deep breath.

"I... I-..." She started.
"Thank you everyone. Please let me introduce to you our two club members, brave animal heroes!" You winced at the light suddenly shining on you three.
'Shit,' You thought.

"They risked their lives to save a student from our school that was kidnapped. Legoshi, (Y/N), get on stage, please!" Juno smiled, and you both got pulled by Tao.
"We didn't rehearse this," You muttered a little harshly at Juno.

"Regardless on what you may think, a carnivore and herbivore working together shows that we can be there for each other! It's called compassion!" She beamed.
'Yeah, but how far can one go for this 'compassion'?' You looked at the ground.

'Carnivore and Herbivore, if their relationship pushes further, instincts will kick in, and we can't risk it... But then again,' You looked at your ladybug toy, feeing guilty.
'That's exactly what I did. I fell in love with a carnivore, and look where that got me. She's dead, and I'm relapsing all over again,' You clenched your fist.

'That's not what I wanted, to fall in love again, with people I only know because of an undercover case! I shouldn't have taken it!' You were interrupted by Juno speaking up.
"Legoshi, let's light the fire together!" She grabbed Legoshi's hand and they both ran off, leaving you on stage alone.

'It doesn't matter. What I am will push others away. (F/N) was the only one who held me together. I can't date anyone, because of it,' You placed your ladybug into your pocket, slowly walking offstage.

'I made a mistake, I can't tell them about how I feel. It's merely one sided, and simple crush between three people. Love triangle, nothing more than that,' You walked around the festival, taking a different path where stairs led up to a hill.

'So why...' You felt someone behind you, and you turn your head to see Haru giving you a sad smile.
'Why can't I get this feeling to go away?' You nodded at her.
"Mind if I come with you? Legoshi seems... a little busy," She motioned to the giant meteor.

"Well... the thing is... it that-" You began, but paused.
"Haru! (Y/N)!" Legoshi ran up at the bottom of the stairs, stopping next to Haru.
"You both can stop now. Stop trying to tell how you feel, it's pointless," You muttered, turning back to walk up the stairs.

"My job was to find the culprit who killed Tem, I wasn't here to fall in love. I'm 25, you're almost 20, but that still feels wrong," You spat out.
"You two may be different, may have different instincts, but dammit, you just remind me of what I lost!" You hissed, getting a little faster.

"But what we have, what we feel, we want you to be in it!" Legoshi called out.
"The two of us are still confused with each other, but maybe we won't be if you let us in!" Haru pleaded.
"Oh yeah? What's the proof? What about me that you just want to ignore everything I said, and just want to be with me!" You shouted.

"Because!!"

"We love you!!"

The wind brushed your fur, and you stared at the city below the cliff side.
"It doesn't matter if you're a carnivore and a herbivore," Haru mumbled, slowly walking next to you, Legoshi on the other side.

"And it doesn't matter if you're a detective, we'll be here," He added.
"The things that will happen to us, we'll get through it together, and we'll grow stronger together," You felt Haru's small hand grabbed yours.

"We'll take things slow, we want you to feel like you still have that love again. Just... in our own way," Legoshi placed a hand on your head, and you closed your eyes.

'I can't... I can't... but... she would want me to move on... she wouldn't want to see me like this. I need to continue on, for her... and for them,'

"I'll be waiting then,"

You stared at your phone, already hanging up on Chief Kora.
'I just need more evidence on him, then I'll leave,' You closed your eyes and shoved your phone in your pocket, leaning on the railing to look at the sunset.

'Summer went by fast, and that gave me a huge break on this case. Kora said I'm doing a good job, so that's that,' You gave a small smile, taking out a cigarette, lighting it up.
'The culprit is now under surveillance watch, he won't be able to attack any time soon,' You sighed and blew a ring of smoke.

"Mind if I take a drag?"

Your smile instantly fell down, and you dropped your cigarette, stepping on it to kill the ember.
"You hate smoking," You spat out, not looking at the one who spoke.
"I'm hurt, we used to share a lot of things," The voice gave a sad mocking tone, making your blood boil.

"Enough small talk, tell me why you are here?" You snarled, and he pulled down his mask, giving a blank look, until his lips curled up.
"I just want to talk, is that too much to ask? After all, the two of us need to stick together since we're so similar," He cooed out, and you turned your head to glare at him.

"I thought you were done with this obsession, Melon,"
