Chapter 17- One More Step Closer To Death

"Alright cadets! Listen good! Being a officers does not make you any better than civilians in the city! You can't use your teeth, claws, or any carnivorous actions to anyone! To matter if they are criminals or not!" You and other animals stood in a line, standing straight and looking forward as the training coach walked around.

"He never stops talking huh?" You slightly jumped at a female voice, and you turned your head to see a weasel, smiling softly at you.
"Uhhh, I guess, he always shouts and it's annoying," You mumbled back with a slight laugh, but quickly looks forward as the coach walks in front of you.
"I'm (F/N), what's your name?" She asked you.
"(Y/N)," You simply answered.
"Beautiful name for a beautiful creature," You immediately felt hot in the face as she chuckled.

"I-I, uhhhh, I'm... thanks?" You questioned a little flustered.
"Make the best cadet make it to the top of the class?" She suddenly asked with a teasing smirk. You scratched your neck nervously, still blushing at her compliment, and shrugged.
"Whoever does, gets to take the other one out on a date," You grinned, and it was her turn to feel flustered, making you give a dopey smile.

"Alright, I hope you have a nice dress to wear," She giggled as you then stood straight again with the coach walked back and forth.

You scratched the eye of one of the lions' and jabbed him with a bamboo stick you pulled out of a another's back. You jumped up and followed Legoshi as more lions charged at you. Gouhin body slammed them as another punched his nose, making him groan in pain.
"Gouhin!" You shouted as Legoshi pulled you away.

"We need to go!" He said, but you shook him off and ran to jump on the lion's back.
"Felines are nothing but fancied bitches!" You snarled, then the lion grabbed your leg and threw you away.
"I never thought you'll come back, and yet you did! Such a same (Y/N)," The lion grinned as Legoshi struggled with one of them behind you and Gouhin on the ground.

"You came back to avenge your dead girlfriend, cop? Pathetic, that's a suicide action!" You hissed in pain as he brought his hand to your neck, squeezing tightly.
"You see these hands? These hands are the same one that killed that weasel, and guess what?" He held you close to his face and he smirked.

"The boss' hands are the ones that devoured her,"

The world stopped.

You felt like throwing up. Your friend, your partner in crime fighting, your girlfriend, your dead wife... was eaten by the leader of these lions.
"Watch out!" Legoshi pulled the lion off of you and punched him in the nose.
"Are you okay?! Did he bit you?!" He asked you with concern. You said nothing as you stared at the floor, with emotions that slapped your face.

You stood up with a blank expression as Gouhin held one of the lions and told you to run and save Haru. Legoshi stared at you simply walked upstairs.
"Did that lion say something? Do you want me to bite him?" Legoshi asked you.
"Have I ever told you that I hate animals? No matter if they're carnivores or herbivores?" You suddenly asked him.

"I was always looked down upon because of who my parents were. A fox and a red panda. They hurt me, scratched me, taunted me, and degrade me. But I never let them get to me because I had that small spark of hope, that'll improve that I'm not just a aftermath of some sick love quarrel. I'm my own animal that will do anything for people I love." You said with a blank expression as you walked up the stairs.

"I feel tired everyday, feeling like nothing is going my way. But that was until I met her. My love." Your mind switched to you on a couch, with (F/N) in your arms, cuddling and smiling with each other.
"We did everything together, and to say that I loved that woman was an understatement. But then you know what happened, she was killed by the hands of Shishigumi, and I just found out they ate her too," You hissed in anger.

Legoshi listened to everything you told him, feel anger and sympathy for you. You been through so much, and yet you had a soft smile on your face, alway did.
"We're going to save Haru, and I'm going to kill that lion," You both then paused, and you sniffed the air.
"She's behind these doors," You then took a step back, and you bared your teeth.

"Are you ready to beat the shot of this animal?" Legoshi asked you as he readied his claws.
"Always," You then ran to the door, and bust it open, the windows of the door shattered. Legoshi ran in with you as he punched the lion from the back of the head. You quickly looked over to see Haru without clothes, so you quickly pulled your hoodies off of you and covered her.

"Haru..." You looked down at her, with grief and relief in your eyes staring back at her scared ones.
"You came for me," She muttered.
"We both did," You then heard the boss get up to attack.
"Behind you!" She shouted as you turn help Legoshi.
"Why did you came for me?!" Haru asked you as you clawed the face of the boss.

"There's a lot of reasons, but we'll tell you later!" Legoshi replied. The boss pushed Legoshi and aimed to punch you, but you ducked under his legs and punched in the the no no square. Legoshi jumped on the lion as he bit the wolf's arm, blood spewing out. You dug your claws into the boss' sides as Legoshi struggled.

"Legoshi! (Y/N)!" Haru said in shock and fear.
"Run away Haru!! Please!" You shouted at her with small hope that she'll come out of here alive.
"I can't! I can't do that!" She whimpered with tears.
'Come one Haru! You're the toughest Herbivores I know! I won't let you die!' Legoshi then kneed the boss and kicked him off.

"This is not going anywhere." The boss scoffed as he stared at you.
"Let's finish this shit," You spat out Legoshi charged at the boss.
"Don't look Haru," You said as you shielded her from the sight you are witnessing.
"Thank you, thank you so much," She whimpered under you.

"I have no words, but just know that I'm so happy you're okay," You muttered. Then, you heard a howl of pain and you then to see Legoshi holding his arm as the boss kicked him in the stomach and threw him off of him.
"Legoshi!" You shouted as you held onto Haru.

"That canine wasn't strong to fight me, and that goes to you," The boss stared deep into your eyes, and his eyebrows raised slightly.

"You're that cop two years ago, I recognize that blood anywhere," He realized as he stood up.
"I'm here to finish the job, the job to take down this gang once and for all," You hissed.
"Such a shame, I thought you died, but I guess that weasel was the only one who didn't make it," You snarled lowly at him.

"In fact, why don't tell her yourself?" You were a little confused as to why he said that. Legoshi groaned as he tried to get up, but he hissed in pain. The boss slowly took a step back and crouched to pull a box from under the couch.
"Let's see," He opened the nod and lifted something out. You felt like passing out, and you feel the need to throw up.

"Do you forgive your partner for leaving you?" He mocked you as he lifted the skull of a weasel next to him.
"Do you feel happy to finally see your love, (Y/N)?" He spat out.
"Do you feel happy to see her killer holding up what once was her head?"

Everything was shutting down, everything meant nothing to you.
