Chapter 7
Ashton: I am going to test my Zoom to see if everything works out and I'm going to invite you, Sapphire.
Sapphire: Okay, let me get my laptop.
Ashton: Okay, sounds good.
Kaitlin: How are you feeling?
Sapphire: I'm okay.
Kaitlin: You aren't cramping right?
Sapphire: Not right now.
Kaitlin: Okay honey.
Sapphire: Ash I have my laptop.
Ashton: Okay, I sent you an invite.
Sapphire: I got it and I'm clicking on it.
Ash: Did the link work?
Sapphire: Yes.
Ash: Can you see me?
Sapphire: Yes.
Ash: Can you hear me?
Sapphire: Yes, I can.
Ash: So, everything is working well.
Sapphire: Yes, everything is working well on my end.
Ash: And everything is working on my end.
Sapphire: Great.
Ash: Thanks for doing a run-through with me.
Sapphire: No problem.
Ashton: * Ends the Zoom *
Kaitlin: Sapphire?
Sapphire: Yes.
Kaitlin: Would you like to visit your dad at the hospital around 2 PM?
Sapphire: Yeah, I want to see how he is.
Kaitlin: Alright. How about you go ahead and get cleaned up and dressed?
Sapphire: Okay. Maybe I can pick some things up from the store.
Kaitlin: Okay but I can give you the rest of the pads in my box and I can get some more.
Sapphire: Okay, thanks.
Kaitlin: No problem sweetie.
Sapphire: I'm going to take a bath now.
Kaitlin: That sounds good.
Sapphire: See you, when I get done. I might have a nap as well.
Kaitlin: Okay sweetie.
Ash: Kaitlin, could you put on a pot of coffee?
KK: Sure.
Ash: Thanks, sweetheart.
KK: No problem.
* Sapphire comes out of the bathtub, wraps the towel around her body, dries off in her guest room, and gets dressed, before taking her nap *
Ashton: Where is Sapphire?
Kaitlin: She went upstairs to take a bath and she said that she was going to take a nap.
Ashton: Okay, Calum wanted to know how his daughters Sapphire and Ramona were doing.
Kaitlin: Really?
Ashton: Yes, I'm face timing with him right now.
Kaitlin: I want to see him.
Ashton: I'm coming up from my music room.
Kaitlin: Okay.
Calum on Face time: Hi, Kaitlin.
Kaitlin: Hi Calum, how are you?
Calum: I'm okay, just trying to beat this.
Ashton: Cal, you sound kind of hoarse.
Calum: Well, I have been throwing up all day.
Ashton: Are you okay?
Kaitlin: Are you sick?
Calum: No, I'm not sick; I'm just dealing with Symptoms of withdrawal.
Ashton: Is it alcohol withdrawal; drug withdrawal or both?
Calum: It's both.
Nurse: Here is some water.
Calum: Thanks.
Nurse: No problem.
Ashton: I think that it's good for you.
Calum: I know but it's hell.
Kaitlin: Ashton.
Ashton: Yes, sweetheart.
Kaitlin: Do you know where the heating pad is?
Ashton: It should be in the bathroom cabinet.
Kaitlin: Okay, Sapphire just woke up and she told me that her stomach was really hurting.
Ashton: Is she cramping again?
Kaitlin: Yes.
Ashton: Hang on.
Kaitlin: Okay.
Calum: Is sapphire, okay?
Ashton: Not really.
Calum: What's going on?
Ashton: She woke up this morning not feeling good.
Calum: Is she sick?
Ashton: No, it's just that time of the month.
Calum: Oh, okay.
Ashton: Cal, are you okay?
Calum: Um, I just feel like I'm going to throw up again.
Ashton: Do you want me to let you go?
Calum: Uh, can I see Sapphire really quick?
Ashton: Sure. * He says walking up the steps now *
Calum: Hang on. * He says turning his video off and muting the audio before putting his phone down *
Ashton: Okay.
Calum: Sorry about that.
Ashton: Did you throw up again?
Calum: Yeah, I just threw up again.
Ashton: Sapphire, your dad wants to see you.
Sapphire: Okay.
Calum: Hey sweetie.
Sapphire: Hi dad, how are you doing?
Calum: I'm doing better, I'm trying to beat this.
Sapphire: That's good.
Calum: I have been throwing up all day. I'm experiencing symptoms of both Alcohol and drug withdrawal and I'm not having any fun at all.
Sapphire: I know that it sucks dad but it's for the best.
Calum: Ashton told me that you weren't feeling good this morning.
Sapphire: Yeah, it's just that time of the month but Kaitlin and Ash are taking good care of me.
Calum: That's good, I am trying so hard to get better for you and Ramona, I really love you both and I want to be there for you both. You two are the best thing that I have in my life and I want to be able to keep you both.
Sapphire: Yeah, we don't want anything bad to happen to you and that's why we have been concerned about you.
Kaitlin: Got it, Sapphire; I found the heating pad and I'm going to get it ready for you so you can put it on your stomach and I'll give you some more ibuprofen to knock those cramps out.
Sapphire: Okay.
Calum: How is Ramona?
Sapphire: She is doing okay; she had a couple of nightmares last night and woke up crying but she is okay. She is at school right now.
Calum: Is it the same nightmare she has been having about her mum?
Sapphire: Yes, and the second nightmare is about what happened to you.
Calum: Oh my God.
Sapphire: It really scared her.
Calum: I didn't know she was in the room.
Sapphire: Yeah, and it really upset her as it upset me.
Calum: I have just been extremely depressed and I didn't know how to handle it and so I reverted to coping the way I normally do.
Sapphire: Yeah, but the way you are coping isn't the right way.
Calum: I know but it is how I cope with things.
Sapphire: I understand that you cope differently but what you are doing isn't healthy.
Calum: Is that what you were trying to tell me?
Sapphire: Yes, but you got all worked up to the point where you punched a hole in the wall.
Ash: You punched a hole in the wall?
Calum: Yeah, I wasn't lucid when I did that; even though I threw up all of the alcohol that was in my system, I still was kind of drunk.
Ash: Man, that worries me.
Sapphire: Well, I'm probably going to try and rest; I'm cramping really bad.
Calum: Okay sweetie, I hope that you feel better.
Sapphire: Thanks.
Calum: I think that you would make a perfect Psychologist / Social Worker someday. I'm so proud of you and I don't tell you often.
Sapphire: Thanks, that means a lot.
Calum: I love you, sweetheart.
Sapphire: I love you too.
Calum: Bye.
Sapphire: Bye.
Ashton: Let me or Kaitlin know if you need anything.
Sapphire: I will.
Ashton: Love you.
Sapphire: Love you too.
Ashton: Hello Calum, you still there?
Calum: Yes, I was just writing something down.
Ashton: Really?
Calum: Yes, I'm trying to write a song about my situation.
Ashton: Cal, I want to hear it.
Calum: Okay, hang on.
Ashton: Alright.
