"Jungkook, fold your clothes and clean that messy room of yours, nobody wants to go into it when its piled with dirty laundry." Myung told her adopted son, carrying a basket on her curvy hip. "and hurry up, I could be late to my job if you keep doing this."
It was summer and Jungkook laid around the house all day, texting his friends or watching television. He felt like a waste of oxygen, taking in and wasting it on useless words he never told anyone. By that, meaning he did not talk lots, and when he did, it was a pointless 'thats what she said' joke.
"Can I go to work with you?" Jungkook asked Myung, who dropped her keys onto the floor and was currently crawling under a small table to retrieve them. She bounced back up and gave her son a strange look.
"Are you sick or something? You never ask to come with me." Myung scratched her neck and twirled her keys in the other few fingers on her other hand.
"Just today." Jungkook promised.
"Okay! I can introduce you to Taehyung. You'll love his personality. He's so happy most of the time. He never gets adopted during adoptions, only because of his ear. His previous owners cut a chunk from it, and now he is seen as a monster with a deformity." Myung explained, a glint of defeat curling in her eyes.
"Why are people so heartless? Poor Taehyung." Jungkook muttered before following his mother to the car.
________
"I need to go get the cats and feed them. You start cleaning something, be useful, go clean the cages or something." Myung informed, pointing down an isle of pet toys. Jungkook dipped his head and skipped down the isle. Jungkook was still young, innocent; well mostly, with an exception of living in an orphanage for eight solid years of his childhood. People cussed and fought there, many times Jungkook got involved, although he tried to stay away from them.
He looked down the row and noticed a line of clear glass cages running down the wall. They all looked empty, except the very last one stuffed in the corner. A small arm was loosely hanging over the screen, it looked like it struggling to reach a little stuffed tiger that had fallen from the cage.
Jungkook quickly skipped over, picking up the tiger plushie and looking at it, it was clean and cute. Although the left leg was deflated from a tight grip on it, he would guess. Jungkook turned to the cage, his eyes widening in shock. It was a tall boy looking about the same age as Jungkook, his white floppy ears hanging down, one seemed scarred and chipped. His tail was touching the floor, his head tilted. His light blue eyes were locked on Jungkook's hand, where the tiger was held.
Jungkook quickly stepped up to the hybrid, his hand reached over the clear cage and he handed the boy his tiger.
"Here you go!"
The hybrid flinched slightly, but took the toy back, holding it to his chest in a protective manner. He backed away from Jungkook slowly. He knew how these things went; last time someone was this nice, he ended up with a razor blade to his ear.
"T-thanks.." Taehyung mumbled, pressing his back to the back of the cage, hearing a soft thud as his bones made contact with the wall.
Jungkook nodded and skipped away, in search of his mother.
