Late night teams
"Lance are you awake?" Pidge whispered kneeling at the edge of his tent as he laid on his side, but he wasn't sleeping.
"Yea? What's up Pidge," lance ran a hand through his hair as he sat up and she scooted in and sat at his feet.
"My dads coming today," she smiled softly as everyone else was still sleeping as well.
"Yea, I know," lance snorted at the obvious.
"I think today I'm going to try convincing him to let some of us come back, I really want to go see my mom and I'm sure you and hunk want to see your families," Pidge whispered as lance crossed his legs close to him and pursed his lips.
Lance opened his mouth but closed it quickly, biting his tongue to not say anything. He wanted to tell her that it would only be him that could see his family, if he told her she would know about kinkade, then who knows what could happen then...
"What about the others? Your dad said giving our position away could risk the galra finding us," lance sighed a little as he leaned back.
"... what if we split up?" Pidge offered.
"That won't solve anything, any of us going back would still risk us getting recognized, I hate it but your dads right and I don't want to risk our home," lance shook his head disagreeing with her and Pidge looked down.
"I thought you'd agree with me lance, I thought you'd want to see your mom too," she whispered sadly.
"I-I of course want to see my mother, I miss her so much... that why I don't want to risk it," he gulped with wide eyes as he looked at Pidge guilty. She ran away from home, she hasn't seen her mom in so long...
"Maybe next week your dad could bring her with," he offered with a smile.
Pidge nodded slowly and smiled back as she sat in the tent with him.
"I'm still tired of living in a cave," she mumbled and lance laughed a little.
"I don't blame you," he grinned.
Pidge perked up hearing foot steps and peaked out as she flopped over on her side with her head sticking out.
"Shit shiros going to yell at me if he finds out I snuck out of my tent again," Pidge hissed sneaking over to lance as he threw one blankets over Pidge as she laid across the floor and he laid his head on her side like she was a pillow as he closed his eyes when he saw a flashlight in the distance.
Shiro walked past them as he peaked in for a moment but continued after Lances tent.
"You've been sneaking out?" Lance flipped on his stomach as Pidge peaked out from under the blanket.
"Only a few times a week," she looked back at him as they laid together on the ground.
If only she knew what I was doing once a week, lance shrugged to himself.
He hummed softly laying his chin on his hands that were stacked on top of each other. He wondered how kinkade was doing, he was at the garrisons, how much did it change? Did kinkade ever help teach cadets? That would be sweet if kinkade helped younger generations... and saving the world from a mass species of alien warlords.
Did kinkade ever think of him?
Why couldn't he stop thinking about him? Probably cause he was new and new was fun, it was exciting, he loved having friends when he was younger and still in school, being surrounded by people and having company was great. He missed it. He missed kinkade too.
"Let's see if I'll get caught tonight," Pidge scrambled to her feet as she crouched to the ground.
"I'm sure Alluras trying to figure out how to sneak out of hunks tent, it's like a game now, I think Hunk and Allura are a team," she smiled smugly. "Oh my god lance we can't let them win, oh my god I gotta make rules when everyone's up," Pidge gasped as she snuck out under the bottom of Lances tent as he blinked confused.
"Oh my god Pidge you gotta make copies so Hunk doesn't change the rules again!" Lance hissed after her as she ran on all fours back to her tent.
He huffed again laying on his back as he rested his hands on his stomach but felt his face get heated as he thought about olive eye and a gentle smile every time he closed his eyes. Lances eyes snapped open as he covered his lower half of his face with wide eyes, covering his cheeks and nose, feeling the heat. It was a weird tingling sensation...
He's never gotten this feeling when he's thought about someone, not like this...
Lance looked up at the top of his tent as he exhaled softly as his hands laid at the sides of his head. His chest rising but lowered when he exhaled again with his lips separated softly.
"It's never been like this..."
