THIRTY ONE: WORK & MORE WORK

"I WANT THE reports of all the sectors submitted today itself. I don't care if it takes you till two in the morning or the entire night. And also make a separate file of today's meeting." Theodore said to me before he exited the conference room.

I stood there dumbfounded and it continued till all the employees were out of the hall. Collecting the notepad and miscellaneous papers which concerned me, I walked to my office room.

The PAs room was a small room which could be seen from the CEOs office clearly. There was a glass wall in between the two rooms and because of this reason I had to witness innumerable employees being fired and hear their desperate cries of desperation. But nothing could melt the heart of the determined strong headed, bastard of a CEO. Honestly, it had been pitiful to look at them but it soon changed to horrifying when the thought struck me that it could happen to me as well someday. I shuddered at the thought and started typing the lengthy reports of twelve sectors one by one.

I put on my UV Rays filtering glasses and turned back to the laptop.

Whosoever the real PA was must have been a very artistic and compassionate woman. There was a picture of her family in a photo frame, kept on the wooden desk. Apart from that, the entire room has well aligned with mysterious paintings on the wall. She seemed a lively energetic person. Pushing away the thoughts, I opened MS Word and started typing.

Pushing back the swivel chair, I stood up and stretched my numb limbs. Two reports were yet to be finished and I was in dire need of some caffeine in my system. Picking up the pendrive to get the reports printed in the meanwhile I savour my coffee, I exited the room.

I gave the pendrive to the man who printed files for the company and told him that I'd come to collect them after having my coffee. After all the reports weren't some tenth standard level rather a single report had more than five hundred pages. I couldn't even imagine how hard it was going to be for Theodore to examine them. This thought seemed to keep me on bay.

Sighing, I made it towards the cafeteria and ordered a cappuccino. Sitting in the corner of the room, I saw a few other employees chatting and eating snacks. They looked happy.

It was 7:44 PM when I knocked at Theodore's office to submit the reports. No reply came from the other side so I pushed the door open slightly and peeked inside. I entered the room and placed the files on the counter when my heart was drumming with the fear of him appearing suddenly from behind and lash at me, which he had already done three times today.

I exhaled out of relief and went to my room to complete the rest two files.

Where he might have gone so early? Maybe some business meeting or something...

If I had known that he wouldn't be there then I could have easily taken home the files and worked while stretching on my plush comfy bed. He should be buried in a shit hole, walked over by moaning cows and pigs—

What was I thinking? I need to complete the work and go home as soon as possible.Taking in a deep breath, I turned towards the laptop.

By the time I had finished everything, I could no longer feel my fingertips. They were stinging because of typing and writing so many reports and notes that they were numb. And my brain was dead too, it's cells all eaten up by Satan himself.

It was 10:30 pm when I finally exited the building, wishing the receptionist good night. I stopped at Starbucks to grab dinner and then drove home.

Inserting the keys, I pushed open the door. The lights were turned off and everything was oddly quiet. I thought Theodore must have come home by then.

After having a long bath and changing into my night clothes which consisted of blue cotton shorts and white top, I brought the utensils from the kitchen and set up the dining table for me.

I unpacked my food and turned on some cartoons on YouTube. Yes, as weird as that might sound, I still love watching all the cartoons shows. Today I was watching some Barbie movie.

Even after my dinner was finished and it was almost twelve, there was no sign of Theodore. I don't remember him informing me that he'd be late or about any parties. Where he must have been.

I was still pacing in the hall when astonishingly the door opened and walked inside a drunk Theodore with a blonde woman with blue eyes clinging to him like a leech.
