Taehyung was sure his fingers were bleeding from how long he was fiddling with them, scratching on his nails and biting them nervously. He did not dare to move a single inch, afraid to cause the inevitable to happen even faster. Fear was holding his hear tin its brutal clutch and Taehyung gulped.

Yoongi to his side was no better, staring into space while his long, pale fingers continued to grasp onto the silent earpiece. The two hadn't dared to interact, to have a decent conversation and they had simultaneously given up because holding up a conversation was from no use from how nervous they were.

The only question shared in between them was a silent glance down to the only thing connecting them to Seokjin and Jungkook. But still, there was nothing.

Taehyung was gnawing on his bottom lip as he wondered whether he should inform his Momma and brother what they were doing but he threw that idea away as soon as he had it. No, it was too dangerous. Too many people he cared for were already involved with this mess and Taehyung couldn't help but to feel guilty.

If it wasn't for him after all, none of this would've happened. His older brother wouldn't be out there, risking his life for Taehyung, their father would still be part of their family and Jungkook wouldn't have become infatuated with the blond beauty. Jungkook wouldn't even remember him...

But Taehyung shook his head, getting rid of these depressing thoughts. He had to remain calm, he had to. For his brother. Only for his brother yes, not for the same silver-haired man he hadn't stopped thinking about since that brief encounter back when they were kids...

No! Taehyung shouldn't think like that. They would return and then Jungkook was out of his life for good. It was better this way. Whatever fantasy Taehyung thought he could have as a future, it couldn't involve Jeon Jungkook, the King of Kings.

The young blond didn't know that the crush he had wished to see again, was the son of a psychotic monster, trained to behave exactly like his father.

Taehyung shuddered and pushed his legs closer to his body. Yoongi threw him a worried look but didn't dare to break the somehow calming but also nervous silence.

"They will come back", it was Taehyung's voice breaking the silence, a lone tone in the middle of the quiet room.

"They have to."

"This is it, then. The deal is fulfilled." Jungkook released his breath, chest heaving as he stared blindly at the screen. It was done. Taehyung's identity was hidden, his report erased from the deadly dove list. He was finally free.

And that meant Jungkook had to leave, for good.

It was too much for the silver-haired man, to lose the only one he had ever loved. The man turned sharply and without biding his goodbyes stormed out of the room, so no one could see the sudden heartbroken tears appearing in his eyes.

Eunwoo followed him shortly after, only throwing a glance into Seokjin's direction.

The other Mafia leader was about to follow when a voice called for his attention.

"Seokjin-ah, wait", his father called out for him. Seokjin stiffened but didn't turn around fully, only turning his head a bit to the side to indicate his father that he was listening to him. One last time before their ways would part, once and for all.

"I never wanted to be the antagonist in your story, son", the vice president said unhappily. Seokjin simply scoffed in reply yet the elder chose to ignore it.

"Can you tell your mother that I still think about her? And my sons? I always think about the possibilities about how our lives would've played out if I hadn't decided to be an asshole", he continued, hope in his voice. Seokjin barked out a laugh.

"You lost that privilege when you called me a faggot and attacked Taehyung, father", he spat without any sympathy. His father flinched, feeling caught. He was not a good man, there was no excuse for his behavior, Seokjin had every right to be angry, as well as Namjoon and Taehyung.

But still...

"I sincerely hope to never see you again, Mr. Kim. Have a good life." Without turning around a second time, Seokjin left the heartbroken man alone, who was the only one at fault for his misery as he solely had been the one to cause it.

Taehyung jumped to his feet as soon as he heard the door opening, footsteps following soon after which sounded rushed.

Seokjin was the first to appear in the door frame, Yoongi jumping to his own feet with a screech before running to his boyfriend and jumping into his outstretched arms. The taller stumbled for a mere second before securing Yoongi in his strong arms and bringing him close.

"I was so worried! Don't ever do that again", Yoongi cried into Seokjin's neck, punching him weakly. Seokjin laughed huskily before pressing a kiss to Yoongi's messy hair.

"I would never leave you, my love. And I'll always return to you, like I promised", he replied back gently, tilting Yoongi's head back to press a kiss against his lips. Yoongi melted in his hold, pressing his slim body against Seokjin's in the desperate need for closure.

A little smile adored Taehyung's face as he watched their interaction, his heart aching. Because he wanted to have this too. That, this pure, overwhelming love where you never want to be separated from your beloved.

His green eyes flickered to the other person standing in the door frame, their own eyes incredibly sad and already on Taehyung.

"You're free, Taehyung. Your name was erased from the dove list. It's done", Jungkook spoke with a pained smile, tilting his head towards Seokjin who had untangled a clingy Yoongi from his frame.

"Our deal is finished. I'll take my leave now", Jungkook said politely, voice distant and eyes turning emotionless as he turned to Taehyung. The blond's breath hitched as he watched Jungkook fold his arms behind his back.

"Goodbye, Taehyung. I know you'll possibly never want to see me again, but I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me for my wrong doings one day", the silver-haired Chess King told Taehyung with a polite smile before bowing his head.

The blond Chess Queen felt his heart breaking by this sight, his fingers itching. Was this right for him to feel this way? Taehyung had stopped a long time ago to care about that.

As Jungkook turned to leave, tears already forming another time in his eyes because he was about to lose the love of his life, he felt his heart cracking. No. He couldn't let that happen.

"Wait!"

The call caused Jungkook to halt in his steps, heart hopefully beating in his chest yet he didn't dare to turn around. He didn't want to keep his hopes up high when he didn't deserve it.

"Wait, Jungkook." A soft hand came to rest on Jungkook's shoulder before he was gently turned around. Jungkook's breath hitched as he came face to face with Taehyung's gentle expression.

"Yes, you did some horrible things to me but you worked hard for my forgiveness. And you...", Taehyung halted, his eyes shortly flickering over to his brother whose expression softened and he nodded slightly, "you never asked me once if I too loved you when we were kids."

Jungkook's jaw dropped as he stared at Taehyung in disbelief. The blond beauty chuckled, cupping Jungkook's cheeks.

"Idiot", he giggled. "You weren't the only one who remembered. That kid, you, captured my heart with his kind act and I've never forgotten it. To believe it was you was shocking but I then started to see the same kid I loved so many years ago. You were my childhood crush, Jungkook", Taehyung confessed.

"And to think that it was you, that I found you again, was terrifying. Because in my mind, you were my knight in shining armor. But you revealed yourself to be my kidnapper. Still, I saw the way your past broke you and almost lose hope to ever see my savior, my true savior again. But you held onto the light I saw in you and when you let me go, I truly believed you can change", Taehyung's eyes were gentle.

"And you did change", he whispered, lips fanning over Jungkook's.

"Taehyung", the Mafia leader whispered hoarsely, not daring to believe his luck.

"Idiot", Taehyung grumbled before leaning forward and finally interlocking their lips together for the first kiss Taehyung initiated with the elder.
