Chapter 23
This time going back to the city didn't give me as much anxiety as it did the last time. I had a reason to be anxious the last time since Liam had pinned me down in the fitting room and shoved his d.ick in me. This time we were avoiding any place that Liam would be. We were sticking to the warehouse district a little closer to where I lived. Naomi needed to pick up fabrics that she could only find there and they were cheap too.
"So were looking for this satin that will line the jacket. Do you like the gold or the pearl?" Naomi asked me, taking me the shimmering side of the fabric warehouse.
"They honestly look the same to me." I shrugged and laughed a bit at Naomi's expression when she heard me. She tried to point out the differences, but nope, they were still the same to me. We looked around for a little longer and then Naomi had to walk off because she had gotten an important phone call. I wandered off down the makeshift walls and ran my fingers over the different fabrics. I found a nice brown color that I thought would look good on Zayn. I picked up the fabric and walked around some more until I found Naomi again. She was talking with a taller man in a nice suit and when she saw she looked a bit frazzled and left the man behind.
"Friend of yours?" I asked, glancing back at the guy. He looked really out of place and stared at us as we walked away.
She shook her head quickly. "Just asking his opinion on the golf and pearls since you don't seem to have one." She lightly giggled and I laughed along with her and when I looked back, the guy had walked off. "Well, I'm all done here. Ready to go?"
I was more than ready. My skin was tingling I was so excited to go back to my apartment and see Harry and Ruth. It had only been a month, but I bet that Harry's wife was just about to burst that baby out if she hadn't already. "I think you'll enjoy my friends. They're around Zayn's age." I smiled proudly because they really were great people and helped me out so much over the years that I had lived in the apartment complex.
"They sound like lovely people." Naomi said, staring at her phone and tapping away as we made out way to the car. She wasted no time getting in the car and starting the engine. I dropped the fabric off in the trunk and then got into the car.
"You seem a little wired, today? Too much morning coffee?" I asked. She did stay up late and was acting weird for the most part of the day.
"Yeah, that's it." She half smiled, pulling out of the warehouse parking area and getting into the busy road. A few cars left behind us as well seeing as the warehouse was only open for so long that day. "So which way?" She asked.
I led Naomi down the roads to my apartment complex. When it came into view I was shocked that it hadn't changed. Which was weird to me because it felt like so long ago that I had last been there and not just a month ago. "Home sweet home." I was jumping in my seat. I saw Harry though the window working on the sign up front and when we finally parked I jumped from the car and started shouting out to him. "Harry!" I laughed. "Harry, hey!" He looked up and smile widely, pushing some of his curly hair out of the way.
"Niall! What brings you back, done with your work so soon?" Harry played with his words as Naomi walked up to us, letting a dark car pass before she cross the parking lot. He didn't have to be secretive about what I did, everyone who worked for Zayn knew most of what was going on. Except John knew my age and Zayn recently found out.
"I'm actually here to see you and Ruth. And, well, pack up my things." I said sheepishly. Harry's eyes widened and then he smiled softly. "So I wanted to give you this." I reached into my coat pocket bad pulled out my crumpled envelope and handed it to Harry. "It's not much, but it what I have left and I wanted to give it to you and Ruth for being so nice to me and letting me live here. It should help with some things for he baby and for fixing up the place." Harry opened the envelope and smiled.
"Thank you." He stared at the money. "But you need this more than I do." He handed back the envelope and I took it. "And you take that. Ruth and I will be fine. Her brother is helping us a lot with expenses." I had almost forgotten about Ruth being Liam's sister. That was a shocker the last time I heard it and this time was no different.
"At least take some for leaving so early in the year." I pulled out a few hundred, almost half of what I had and hades it over to Harry. He nodded and pocketed the money. "Now, where's Ruth? Don't go thinking I came here just for you." I laughed and Harry wiped his hands on his jacket.
"She's inside resting. That baby takes a lot out of her." He smiled, leading me over to their place. Naomi had gone off and was talking on the phone again. When we got to the front door, I looked back and Naomi was walking around the parking lot. She then stopped at another car as the window rolled down. "Coming in?" Harry asked.
I broke away from my thoughts and walked right in where I was greeted by a very tired looking Ruth with a large baby belly sitting in one of the chairs int eh living room. "Ruth!" I grinned. She looked up and then tried to get up quickly, but failed miserably.
"Oh, stupid chair." She argued with the furniture as I walked up to her. "Niall, it's so nice to see you again." Ruth had managed to get out of the chair and maneuver her way around the bulky furniture to hug me. When I pulled back I took a look at her huge stomach and smiled. "I know, I'm the size of a whale." She laughed.
I shook my head. "No, you look amazing." I told her and we shared some bonding time together, talking about baby names and what they were going to do if it were a girl or if it was a boy. After a while I got worried about Naomi out in the parking lot, so I said goodbye to Ruth for, hopefully not, the last time. Harry had given me some spare cardboard boxes he had and offered to help me clean out the place, but I told him I could do it myself.
When I left Ruth and Harry's place, I looked around the parking lot to find Naomi, but I couldn't see her anywhere. Her car was still there, parked in the same place we had stopped, but she was out of sight. Also, the dark car she had gone up to was gone as well.
I was starting to get a bad feeling about it all, but figured that quickly packing up and then saying another goodbye to Harry was a good idea, so I worked fast. I ran up to my apartment door and fiddled around with my keys before I finally got the door open. My room was musky and needed the windows open, but overall it was the same as how I had left it a month earlier.
I started with the important things first, like my sentimental things and the rest of my clothes. I basically had all my toiletries with me back at Zayn's house. I filled up a box with some things off my shelves and my bedding. The furniture was going to stay since I had no use for it, nor would it fit in Naomi's car. It didn't take much time to clean out my place and after about an hour I was done. I piled the things near my door, really only two boxes and a bag, and got out my phone.
Naomi still hadn't been around and I was getting worried so I called her. It rang a few times, but I had no answer. I tried again, but still I got nothing from Naomi. She had essentially disappeared and left her car behind. I hoped that she left the trunk unlocked so that I could put my stuff inside and just wait for her, but I had no luck with that at all. I was stranded, not knowing how to get back to Zayn's without her.
I groaned, placing my boxes on the ground and then taking my keys over to Harry to finally be done with my place. "Everything alright?" He asked, pocketing the keys.
"Yeah, my ride just disappeared though." I frowned. "Short girl with red hair. She was talking on the phone when I got here." I looked around again and there was still no sign of where she had gone.
"I could give you a lift." Harry told me, but I shook my head, declining his offer.
"That's okay. I'll find her. Can you watch my stuff though?"
Harry nodded. "Sure."
"Thanks. I'll be back." I walked off, out of the parking lot and thought that maybe Naomi had gone into one of the many costume stores or cafes that were around. Finally, after walking a few blocks down the road I found her standing on the side of the road, looking around. "Naomi! What are you doing over here?" I asked, but then I realized that she was near the small shopping district. "I'm ready to go when you are." I told her when I finally caught up with her.
"Oh! Okay." It was like she broke away from whatever trance she was in. "Can you help me with something though?" She asked. "I bought a small dresser for Zayn's accessories. You know, ties and cuff links. Those things. But it's a little too heavy for me. I'll go get my car and drive around back and you can help me get it in the trunk. Just wait here." She patted my shoulder and then ran off, back to the parking lot, leaving me by the store, just standing around. Her car pulled up on the road and she honked at me, telling me to go around the side of the building and walk to the back.
I didn't think much of it then, but walking behind the building was sketchy as hell. And when another car that wasn't Naomi's pulled up, my heart began to pound. Because I had seen that car before and I had been inside it a few times. It skidded to a stop in front of me and two larger guys jumped out, grabbing me and yanking me forward, shoving me into the backseat, where I collided with none other than my owner, Louis Tomlinson.
And all I could think about was how Naomi set me up.
A/N: Oh hey, I updated again. Cliffy too.
