25 MCYT Questions
I did these not realizing it was Tumblr ask game... 🤦♀️
That's primarily why this book exists.
1. Where do you write? (notes app, Google Drive, word, a notebook, directly onto ao3, another word processor, etc.)
Mostly the notes app, but I also use Google Docs for collaboration efforts.
2. What was the first SMP or cubito you ever wrote for?
Achievement Hunter was the first ever, but the first SMP that I wrote for (and still have works up on the darkest depths of my Quotev account) is Dream SMP.
3. Which SMP do you find is the most fun to work with?
Traffic SMP (aka the Life Series).
4. Anything you like in particular about writing for this fandom? (the setting, the aus, the people, etc)
I really like everyone's creativity, especially for the Life Series. People take something really small or trivial that was played for laughs by the content creators and make it into something really impactful.
5. How do you translate the world of Minecraft to fit into your fanfics when you keep the original setting?
Firstly, they aren't square. 😂 Also I usually do permadeath and I'd saw society kinda functions like Minecraft Story Mode. People build communities and live close together, they avoid staying out at night because mobs, stuff like that.
6. Do you like using the mcyt multiverse as a concept? (all SMPS and MC content exists in the same universe)
I find that really interesting and I have read fics that explore that, but I doubt I would do it myself because keeping with everything stresses me out. Also Traffic SMP is the only current SMP I'm fully caught up on.
7. How long does it take for you to go from an idea to the end product? (be it drabble in tumblr or fully published multichapter fic in ao3)
If this means from when I get an idea to when I start writing, this can be a few weeks or few months. Completely a fic depends on chapter amount and length, my motivation, etc.
8. Do you edit and proofread your works yourself or do you have someone else to help you with that?
Both. I'm not very good at proofreading though, so I probably need to stick with having an editor. 😂
9. How do you worldbuild?
Depending on the AU and the story itself, I build the world according. Usually I like to have big locations already thought up, but smaller places are created as needed. I also try to have simple and predetermined magic systems (if they apply to fic) to keep me from getting stressed.
10. How do you do character arcs?
I think of how the character starts out and how I would like them to end and then hope I manage to change them before the fic ends.
11. Are you more of a planner or an improviser?
I'm both, depending on what I'm writing.
12. Funniest comment you've ever gotten in a piece of work?
I can't remember many comments from the stuff I removed from Wattpad, but I remember Protector got a comment once along the lines of "Etho can't read" and it really cracked me up, even though I don't think the person was trying to be funny.
13. Any segment of your work that made you cry while writing it? (because it moved you deeply)
No. Not yet.
14. Most fun and/or engaging character voice to write in?
Gem, maybe. I don't really know.
15. Writing in first, second or third person?
I like first person, but I drifted towards third because that's what people on AO3 like and I wanted people to read my stuff on there. Everything I wrote pre Protector was in first person and I do want to write in that point of view again.
16. What do you think is the signature aspect of your work? What do you think readers see and go "Ah of course! [Writer] made this!"
My chapters are numbed like this. .: 1 :. (I genuinely don't think there's anything else that stands out about my fics other than that. 😂)
17. Favorite dynamic to write? (ship, familial bond, friendship, qpr, rivalry, etc)
No idea. It changes so often because I can't stick with the same thing for too long.
18. How similar are the things you enjoy writing to the things you enjoy reading? Somewhat similar?
I like to read and write fantasy, but I also read contemporary, science fiction, and thriller's if I find one that interests me or has a ship I like in it.
19. Do you tend to take into account hybrid characteristics (avian, enderman hybrid, dragon hybrid, etc) when you are writing cubitos?
Yeah, sometimes.
20. Which project have you poured so much of yourself into that it resembles more an original work than a derivative mcyt work?
I don't thing I have one?
21. What cubito have you stared from afar like a weird bug and thought "If I knew what was up with you or your world I'd try writing for you"?
I don't have an answer for this one.
22. Any popular fanfic you heard a lot of buzz around and thought "eh it's fine" just to read it later and decide "oh it does deserve all the hype it gets!"
Not that I can think of, but maybe Passerine? I honestly can remember what I thought of it before I read it.
23. What work of yours would you like to have the biggest impact on the fandom?
Lost At Sea [Puffychu]... It still haunts me to this day. (It was the most popular Puffychu fic on Wattpad with 30k+ reads until I removed it. It's still available on Quotev if you're interested in it. It's a bit old, though.)
24. What work would you like to talk more about?
I don't know.
25. What works and/or authors in the fandom do you recommend?
You Could've Applied Online by Anonymous [AO3]
come sail away series by apollothetransboy [AO3]
Of Goods and Redstone by moonlightlov [AO3]
Smells Like Coffee by ThatOneWaterCat [Wattpad]
Hermitcraft: Origins by adrilxa [Wattpad]
Safe & Sound series by croakthefrog [AO3]
The Ballad of Etho's Dishwasher by Fire3334 [AO3]
Ancient History by Fire_Cat [AO3]
There are lot of books I've been meaning to read and finish reading (my list is stupidly big), so I'm sorry I couldn't give more recommendations. Maybe I'll have more in the future once I catch up on my reading.
