Tag #42

Tagged by milindkaranje to write another one shot. She asked me to write a one shot about Shirayuki and Zen from Snow White With The Red Hair, and even though y'all know I don't ship it, I can't deny the request. If there are any more one shot requests then I'll make a one shot book. For now, it's still a tag, so I have no choice but to do it.

I've made it according to what I've read from the manga. I haven't finished the manga, so sorry if there are any mistakes as to what happened after where I've read.

Enjoy!

( Shirayuki's POV )

I silently walked through the corridors, documents in my hand. Such a long stay here, two years. And if we didn't do everything we could... I shook my head, and opened the door.

"Shirayuki, you're here." Ryuu said monotone. I walked to him and handed over the documents, smiling at the fourteen year old.

"I've been doing as many research on how poisonous plants are used as medicines, and I theoretically know everything. But in practice is the question." I stated, mostly drawing my attention to Suzu. He gave me a nod. "If you want me to, I can get to work immediately."

"Don't worry about it, little miss." someone said. I turned around, looking at Obi. As quick and silent as ever. I hadn't even noticed his presence, until now.

"What do you mean?" I asked. Of course Obi had other plans. Since when didn't he? But I seriously needed to work. Prince Izana had given us a great opportunity after all, it couldn't go to waste. No, I needed to work, no matter what Obi might say.

"What I mean is that you're going on a little break." he said back, that sly grin still on his face. I have him an annoyed look.

"You know I don't have time for that, Obi." I explained to him. "I need to work, and put everything in this. We need to know how to use Olin Maris in time. You do know what's at risk, right?" Obi nodded, but simply handed me a letter. I snatched it out of his hands, opening it carefully.

Dear Shirayuki,
As you may know, your research on Olin Maris is making wonderful progress. And I heard from various workers that you're doing extremely well, and have a will to learn. As a reward to the time and effort you're putting into this project, we decided to give you a small break of a few days. More isn't allowed, considering the time limit. It has already been told to everyone you work with, and they all agreed. So Obi shall bring you back to Clarines, and I sincerely hope you enjoy your small break.
Sincerely,
Izana Wistaria

I looked up at Obi, a bit taken back. He smiled.

"How long has it been since you've visited master, little miss?" A smile appeared on my face.

"You mean it?!" I exclaimed. "This is not one of your jokes, right?"

"Not this time, mistress." he said with a smile. I jumped up, hugging him tightly. I was going to see Zen! After months of hard work, without stop, without seeing him. I was finally gonna see him again. And of course I'd also get to see Mitsuhide and Kiki, but... Zen. I missed him so much. It was unbearable to stay in Lyrias castle, without him by my side. Yes, Obi was nice to be around. But I missed Zen. And he could see that just by looking at me.

I packed my bags and got into the carriage. It still felt a bit strange that Obi was on a horse besides the carriage, while I was alone in the carriage. Must be a difference in standards. Like always, with everything. It was such a strange and undoubtedly wrong system. Judging people by their money and power. A method used by many, already for ages. Those same standards were what kept Zen and I apart. If I were from noble blood, things would've been easy. If Zen wasn't a king, there wouldn't be any expectations. But this was the way it was, and stupid morals like standards weren't going to scare me away.

It took a few hours before our arrival in Clarines. A warm welcome by the guards. And... someone came running towards me, forgetting about any formalities and hugging me before I even had the chance to lift my hand and wave.

"Shirayuki." he whispered in my ear. I had already guessed who that person hugging me so tightly was, just by his hair. But hearing his voice again, feeling his gentle touch. I hugged back, not interested in answering. He was so warm and I felt safe around him. Like my mother made me feel when I was scared. Such a gentle, warm way of communicating. Just a hug.

"Careful, Zen," someone said, chuckling lightly. "Don't squeeze to hard. You'll end up killing the poor girl." I smiled as I let go and watched how Mitsuhide and Kiki also came forward.

"It has been too long, Shirayuki." Kiki said with the royal smile she always had. To think such a beauty knew a better way to kill you than a trained guard. I nodded.

"It sure has."

"To be completely honest with you, Zen wasn't good at hiding the fact he missed you, at all. Sometimes he even murmured your name in his sleep." Mitsuhide teased. I looked as Zen's pale face turned a bright red colour.

"T-That's not true!" he yelled. I chuckled lightly.

"Well, I wouldn't say I was completely good at hiding things like that myself. Even Suzu noticed." I said, in the hope to comfort Zen. I looked around as I saw the guards talking about us already. "Let's go inside, shall we? I also want to visit the head pharmacist, of course."

"No surprise there." Mitsuhide replied, and he gestured me to go first.

After talking with the head pharmacist and eating lunch with the others, Mitsuhide, Kiki and Obi decided on getting to work. Which left Zen and I alone. Together we walked through the halls telling stories about our time apart. It seemed to be very busy both for Zen and for me. And I actually was really glad Prince Izana had given me this opportunity to go see Zen. I had forgotten how refreshing it was to talk to him. And how much I missed hearing his voice.

I suddenly stopped walking and turned around to face Zen. "Zen, what do you say about visiting the green house?" Zen smiled, and nodded.

"Of course." he said. Such a miracle that he had chosen me as the person he wanted to spend his life with. No matter what it took. And as we all knew, that was going to take a lot.

The green house hadn't changed a lot, though it was obvious Ryuu wasn't visiting it anymore. That was expected. People didn't really realise how much Ryuu did for this place. Such an interesting kid.

"So, why did you want to go here?" Zen asked, looking at me with those outstanding blue eyes. I smiled, looking at the growing herbs.

"Oh, you know, memories." I said, not seeing Zen anymore, only looking at the growing herbs. I had missed this place so much.

Suddenly I felt a pair of arms wrapping themselves around me from behind. My first instinct was to scream because of the shock, but I knew a hug was harmless, so instead I let out a gasp. Trying to cover up the fact I was going to scream.

"Z-Zen," I began. "What are you..." He shushed me. It felt weird that someone hugged you but all you could do was smile and lay your hands on his arm. As if that was hugging back. He turned me around, so that I could face him. Unexplainable beauty in his eyes. Before he closed them and pressed his lips on mine. With this person, it all didn't matter. Standards, money, power. It meant nothing to him. All that mattered was love and friendship. And I knew that was all it took, and he would never abandon me. I didn't know how he had become that way, but I was thankful he had. Because this was the person I wanted to share my life with. Even if I had to stay apart for him for another long time at Lyrias. But I would do everything I could, to come back and make this person proud of me.

I closed my eyes myself and returned the kiss.

Hard to write about a ship you don't like, and you want Shirayuki and Obi to get together, but you need to stay with the request you got.

Also, there are no dead people. That's weird.

Anyway, no rules. I tag whoever has seen Snow White With The Red Hair, and wants to write a one shot on it. Yay.

Bye now!
