Pikemen wore armor and carried around 14-18 foot telephone poles with pointy things on the end called pikes. Hence, 'pikemen'. The banished heir keeps pikes in 10 wide, 8 deep blocks in between 2-4 musketeer blocks. 1-2 musketeer blocks on one side, 1-2 musketeer blocks on the other. Main job is to keep away cavalry and other pike squares.

Again, armored (at least front ranks) cause who wants to face other big ass pikes without any?

There were other melee focused units but im lumping them in with pikes mainly greatsword users (like the zweihanded or claymore) and halbediers. Probably a lot used the (again, 14-18 foot) pikes
