Excerpt from Fated Duet

Hello, my loves~♡ I'm back with another one shot.:3 Although, this one is not a taekook one. I wanted to keep it the original characters for this one so the picture above is them. If you're wondering, there is a ten year age gap between Johnathan and Ryshelle. One is a vampire, the other a siren. Yes, this story will talk about the death of these two major characters and I specifically wrote in a way the vampire could take his own life without actually dying. You'd have to read the whole thing to learn how and why I did that though.😂🤣 This is a story that I've been working on since my 8th grade year in middle school and all throughout high school. I'm still working on it even now to better the writing because my writing has improved exponentially since high school and I'd be too embarrassed to share the original copy.🤣😂 Also, I'm not good at drawing backgrounds so please excuse the lack of background. It's literally just my favorite colors blended together.😂🤣 Also! This story isn't really written in this format but to get a good excerpt from the entire story and condense it into a one shot took a lot of effort to think of so here's the result. There's a lot that happens between them, this is just some of the things.🤣😂 There are some mild adult themes, so please be advised when reading~♡ Other than that, please enjoy~♡

Aurora, Natasha, Marco, and Camillia stood admiring their parents' perfectly preserved corpses. Their golden casket, surrounded by various flowers of varying colors with a glass lid remained shut away in the basement until an anniversary. Beside their mother lay their father, eternally holding her delicate hand in his larger one. It was the 12th anniversary of their mother's brutal murder in the middle of the street. Jealousy fueled the actions that lead to their mother dying in their father's arms in the unforgiving public. That much they knew from their grandparents, who now raised them since they had no other parental figure. Their father was supposed to have raised them but Aurora remembered that day well since it was mentally and emotionally scarring. He'd dropped them off with their grandparents, claiming that he had errands to run. Although, their father's mother had a bad feeling about the somberness with which he'd left them and they returned home to check on him. Aurora knew he'd been depressed without their mother. The sorrow was permanently engraved on his face and in his heart anytime something reminded him of her. When they'd entered the house, it was eerily quiet and Aurora thought she'd check in their parent's room for him. Only she didn't expect him to have a loaded gun pressed to his temple and didn't expect him to pull the trigger as she was entering the room.

She was forever scarred by that moment and couldn't forgive their father for leaving them the way he did. Their grandparents smiled at them as they offered small snacks to the children, trying to take their minds off the pain they may be experiencing. Especially since Aurora was only two years old when her mother was killed and four when her father killed himself. They tried to ensure that she wouldn't remember the pain of their deaths for too long and spark up another depressive episode. She could tell her grandparents hated taking her to her therapist, although she had no idea why they hated the thought so much.

"How are you four doing today?" Lorena asked softly, holding out a steaming hot cup of tea on a platter for each one of them. Natasha took her cup first, sipping sophisticatedly on her tea as she stared at her grandmother. "It could be a better day, but you know, some bitch didn't like our mother being with our father," Natasha answered straight-laced, annoyed by the day. Lorena chuckled softly as the other three grabbed their cups as well, Camillia adding vodka into her tea before sipping. Lorena sighed at that action, snatching the spiked tea from Camillia's fingers. "You're too young to be drinking," Lorena chastized in annoyance, sighing heavily at the look on Camillia's face. "Look, I know you guys are going through a hard time right now. Still adjusting to living with us but you don't need to throw your lives away either," Lorena stated calmly and softly, tucking a stray piece of Camillia's hair behind her ear. "Why don't we take a look at some memories of them through their eyes?" Lorena inquired tenderly, conjuring their memories through her body. She blinked slowly before projecting their memories through her body onto the wall behind the children. They watched as the events through their parents' lives when they'd first met unfolded.

The day seemed bleak through Johnathan's eyes, a hole had formed deep in his heart for some reason. The world didn't look quite the same after he'd left the one person he felt whole around. He couldn't remember her name or what she looked like when they were children. He just knew that he didn't feel complete without her presence when he had to leave her when she was six. That was already ten years ago and he was certain she'd moved by now but he wasn't giving up hope. Although he wasn't human and didn't believe in a God, that didn't mean he wasn't praying to someone for his wish to come true. He was hoping to finally meet her once again if he continued teaching at this school. This was the school her mother had talked about when she was younger, driving her to push herself to achieve almost the impossible. Johnathan turned the corner abruptly, realizing he was running late when the intoxicating scent hit him hard enough to knock the breath from him. "What the fuck was that?" he gasped softly to himself, noticing a blond-headed female approaching him. "Good morning, Mr. Saint-Vincent," she greeted excitedly, clutching her books close to her chest. The intoxicating scent was now almost unbearable as he covered his mouth in an attempt to keep from barring his fangs at her. This was her scent. The one that he so missed was now standing right in front of him. He couldn't believe the luck he'd had after just a few days here. "May I walk with you to class?" she asked innocently enough, her grip around her books tightening as Johnathan nodded silently. Once again to keep from attracting attention from his higher-ups. He didn't need them thinking he was trying to start a relationship with one of his students.

Although as the weeks progressed, the scent wore off the blond-headed female. Even as she sat right beside him, eating her lunch and chattering on, he couldn't smell her scent as strongly as he used to. He wondered if his senses were leaving him now that he'd found her or if she just wasn't the right one. When a petite female with multi-colored black, blond, red, light brown, and dark brown hair approached the blond female to retrieve her friend, Johnathan was then hit by that intense intoxicating smell once again. Meeting the turquoise blue eyes of the petite female, she stopped to stare at Johnathan. Something flashed through her eyes, almost as if she'd recognized him immediately. "Have we met somewhere before?" she asked curiously, tapping her chin in thought as her friend shook her playfully. "You couldn't have met him somewhere. Mr. Saint-Vincent is a new transfer teacher and I would have noticed by now if you'd met him already. We've been dating for the last few weeks, Ryshelle," the blond explained excitedly as the multi-color haired female shrugged with indifference. "I guess I don't know him as I thought then," Ryshelle declared nonchalantly, turning to walk away with the blond when Johnathan hastily reached for her arm.

Ryshelle turned her head toward him abruptly, a glare gracing her delicate features as a purple shimmer glazed across her eyes. "Wh- What was that?" Ryshelle asked out of confusion, blinking several times to see if it would happen again. Johnathan knew then that he'd found her. The one he'd been praying to meet for years now. "I need to speak with you in my office," Johnathan announced without hesitation, slacking his grip on her slender arm. Ryshelle turned toward him completely now, a confused look on her face as she raised a defiant eyebrow. "Oh? What about Mr. Saint-Vincent?" she challenged as she yanked her arm from his grasp now. "Is it my school attire choice? You can save your breath, Mrs. Snider already spoke with me about it and I refuse to change. If you don't like it, nobody said you had to look at me," she announced defiantly, placing her small and delicate hands on her exposed waist.

Johnathan hadn't even noticed what she was talking about until he glanced down to see she was wearing a white button-up crop top that hung off her dainty shoulder. One strap of her bra was exposed and her flat stomach, a tattoo of an R, and belly button piercing were on display for everyone to see. Johnathan flushed when he realized what she was wearing but refused to bend to her will as well. "Listen here, Princess. Didn't your mommy or daddy ever teach you to respect your elders?" he sniped back, grasping her arm once again when she was stunned into silence. He knew to go for her parents when it came to her. There was that defiant streak in her he knew would become a pain in the ass when she was older and they were her one weakness. Her mother abused her to perform at her peak level of physicality and femininity and her father died in the plane crash that he was supposedly on as well. For all Ryshelle knew, her childhood crush was dead with her father.

The blond finally butt back into their conversation, gently removing Johnathan's hand from Ryshelle's arm. "Ryshelle, don't butt heads with Mr. Saint-Vincent. He's a nice guy" the blond reasoned with her softly, smiling at Johnathan. "Oh, what do you know, Courtney?" Ryshelle asked out of annoyance, following after Johnathan as he'd requested earlier...

The memory didn't cut off from there, but Lorena refused to show that to her grandchildren because she knew what happened after that. Not because Johnathan told her but because she could just sense that something had changed within him. She didn't bother to ask because by the looks of things, he'd found his soulmate once again and it had to have been an intense meeting between the two. Aurora glanced back at Lorena, intrigued that they could watch their parent's memories through their eyes. "Can we watch one more?" Aurora asked softly, meeting her grandmother's gaze. "I want to know who was so jealous that they'd kill our mother in cold blood," Aurora announced unphased, watching as Lorena fidgeted with the hem of her shirt. "Are you sure you want to watch that, baby girl? It's not pleasant and very intense," Lorena explained softly as Aurora nodded her affirmations. "I want to know," she concluded firmly as Lorena sighed softly in defeat. "Alright, but remember, you asked for it," Lorena stated back, conjuring the one moment Aurora was desperate to see.

"How could you, Ryshelle?! You're such a fucking slut! You could have any guy you want and you chose to sleep with Johnathan?! He was mine," Courtney screamed aggressively, grabbing a handful of Ryshelle's curled multi-colored locks. "You fucking bitch! You filthy slut," Courtney screamed with each punch to the back of Ryshelle's head as she whipped her around by her hair. Ryshelle was unable to defend herself against Courtney, the other stronger than her own physique. Ryshelle was dainty compared to Courtney, although Courtney was far from fat. She had an hourglass figure that a lot of guys liked but when they met Ryshelle, no one compared. It wasn't like Ryshelle had purposely tried to seduce Johnathan. It just happened. Many times over without her thinking about it hurting her friend. "I fucking hate you," Courtney screamed angrily, punching Ryshelle in the side of her head now. Courtney's sister rushed to break up the fight, only to be shoved disgracefully to the cement as Courtney threw Ryshelle's head to the side. "Stay out of it, Destiny," Courtney demanded aggressively, grasping Ryshelle's head and bringing her knee up to Ryshelle's face. It connected hard and Ryshelle felt her head reel as she stumbled backward, holding her nose.

Blood spilled out onto her hand as her nose bled uncontrollably, tears welling up in her eyes. Not only did Courtney's knee hurt but she'd be losing a good friend all because of Johnathan's affections for her. Although, Ryshelle wasn't going to take this lying down either. "Fuck you, Courtney. He didn't want you anyway. He told me that he thought you were me and only dated you because he missed me. He knew I was his soulmate the day he looked into my eyes. You were history to him then," Ryshelle antagonized disdainfully, still holding her nose as Courtney lunged at her. They both went sprawling to the floor as Courtney grasped Ryshelle's head and bashed it into the cement repeatedly. Just as Ryshelle was losing her grit and her consciousness, Johnathan ran over and yanked a screaming Courtney off of Ryshelle. The threats on Ryshelle's life hung in the empty air as Ryshelle finally lost consciousness...

Aurora stared at the wall, tears in her eyes as she shook her head. "That woman is the reason we no longer have our mother and in turn, no longer have our father either?" Aurora asked as Camillia turned towards Lorena now. "Why did you show us that? I know Aurora asked but you could have kept refusing her," Camillia stated softly, pulling her knees up to her chest. She rested her chin on her knees as Natasha spoke next. "I want to know what happened that day," Natasha inquired patiently as her twin, Marco chimed up in agreement.

Camilla raised her head off her knees in shock, a look of disgust on her face. "You two have to be kidding me," she cried out exasperated, knowing Aurora had witnessed that one too but was too young to remember. "Do you want to scar Aurora again?!" she cried out, throwing her hands over toward the only child that has had to attend therapy. Aurora placed her hand calmly down on Camillia's knee before nodding. "It's okay. I remember more than you think about that day. So if grandmom wants to show it, I wouldn't mind seeing it again," Aurora announced deadpan, almost as if she were already dead inside. Lorena chewed her lower lip before summoning the memories. "Mind you... you'll understand how your father felt that day," Lorena noted softly, showing the memories from that fateful day.

"Johnathaaaaan," Ryshelle whined softly at his dismissal of her request. "You promised me you'd take me shopping today. You've been so busy that we haven't really had time to spend together. Either you're working, continuing your college education to further advance your career, or you're sleeping. We hardly have time together and you're going to deny me the one day I have you," Ryshelle declared sternly, straddling Johnathan's lap in an attempt to get her way. "Ryshelle. What do you want me to say? Even on my days off, I still have things to do, errands to run," Johnathan retorted exasperated, taking his glasses off to rub his sore eyes. He'd been staring at a computer screen for the last 8 hours finishing up a report for his Chief Investigator at his law firm.

Ryshelle pouted and pushed Johnathan's shoulder lightly. "Come oooooonnnnn, you promised for the last time you had to cancel on me," Ryshelle whined once more, dropping her hands into her lap in defeat. Although she was facing Johnathan, the elder sighed softly and nodded. "Fine. I did promise. Although, we have to be home by 8 if we're going to do anything before going to bed," Johnathan phrased his words appropriately as a tiny, toddling Aurora entered the room. Ryshelle hastily climbed out of Johnathan's lap and grabbed the wobbling toddler with a graceful flourish and a loving smile. Johnathan had to admit she made a wonderful mother. A lot more loving and tender than her own mother was to her. "Come on, let's get everybody dressed and ready," Johnathan stated softly, swatting Ryshelle on one of her perky cheeks. She flushed at the gesture before following after him promptly.

Once Johnathan was ready and the kids were dressed in their winter wear, they set out for their shopping spree. When they arrived at the outdoor mall, Johnathan parked his car and pulled Aurora from her car seat. "Where do you want to go first, love?" Johnathan asked tenderly, earning a sweet kiss and a sensual gaze from Ryshelle. Johnathan swallowed hard at that gaze, fighting any urge he had at that moment. Aurora clung to Johnathan's shoulder, slobbering on the teddy bear she'd brought with her and Johnathan's pea coat. He sighed in annoyance but lovingly patted Aurora's diapered behind as he followed behind Ryshelle. She guided them from shop to shop with the children in tow, Natasha and Marco holding her hands while Camillia held Johnathan's free hand. After all, she was a daddy's girl.

From the distance, something glinted in the sun and caught Camillia's eye. "Daddy, what's that shiny thing?" Camilla asked as Johnathan glanced around in confusion. He was looking where she had pointed but he didn't see anything. "I don't know what you're talking about, baby girl. There's nothing over there," Johnathan stated dismissively, hastily catching up to Ryshelle. "We should probably get going now. It's past lunchtime and I'm sure the kids are starting to get hungry by now," Johnathan reasoned as Ryshelle smiled up at Johnathan, leaning on her tiptoes to kiss him once again. This one slow and sensual to start. "You're right. Plus it is a little cold today and I don't want Aurora getting sick again," Ryshelle added tenderly with a playful wink, brushing her fingers lovingly through Aurora's thick dark blond hair. With that, they began their long trek back toward their vehicle. Along the way, Aurora dropped her favorite slobbery teddy bear and Ryshelle turned around to pick it up while the kids and Johnathan continued without her. Ryshelle picked up the teddy bear with a soft hum of pleasantry before an unforgiving, metallic bang echoed between all the buildings. Ryshelle dropped the teddy bear once again as searing pain surged through her chest. Ryshelle grasped the spot that was in agonizing pain, pulling her hands away to see them caked with a sticky red ooze. She coughed as she began to choke on her own blood, spitting up blood before she stumbled. The sound of her heel clacking against the pavement awkwardly caught the children's attention but Johnathan was already aware of what happened. He could smell her blood so freshly through the air that he didn't even have to turn around to know what had happened. The children screamed in horror as Johnathan hastily handed Aurora and the keys over to Camillia. He was doing everything in his power to keep from turning into that monster. Although the scent of her blood was so strong to him, his once emerald green right eye had already turned violet. "Take your siblings and get them to the car. I'll stay with your mother," Johnathan forced out in a strained voice, fighting every urge within him to be that monster.

When he turned and saw Ryshelle's frail body lying motionless on the cement, blood pooling around her and small, shallow gasps leaving her lips as she strived to breathe that monster completely died within him. "Ryshelle? Love?" he inquired fragilely, hesitant to approach her. Johnathan stumbled closer when he didn't hear anything from her other than small gasps and as he drew closer, he knew why. Johnathan dropped to his knees beside Ryshelle to try and stop the bleeding from the center of her chest. Just by the way she was breathing and spitting up blood, he could tell that one of her lungs was filling up with her own blood. Blood seeped out the corner of her mouth as Johnathan cradled her head in his arms, passerby's dialing emergency services immediately. Ryshelle was gasping slower now, her breaths drawn out and lingering as her eyes began to close. "N- No. No, no, no, no, you can't leave me," Johnathan cried out, shaking her harshly to keep her awake. Anything to keep her with him. He couldn't lose that part of him again. "Ryshelle, you can't leave me," Johnathan cried out yet again, clutching her cold, frail body tightly against his own. "Please. Open your eyes," he whimpered softly, huddling over her now lifeless body as he collected her into his arms and rocked her. "Please, Ryshelle. I need you... I'll die without you... I already have once," Johnathan sobbed softly, tears trickling down his face and spattering Ryshelle's blood stained face. When authorities arrived to take her body away from the scene, Johnathan refused to allow them that and dashed off towards their home with her lifeless body- calling his mother to pick up the car and kids.

Aurora stared at the wall blankly, tears in her eyes as she realized that's probably why she never liked another stuffed animal after that day. She hated the sight of them now and now she understood why. A stupid stuffed teddy bear was what ultimately got her mother far enough away from the family for her to be targeted. When Marco asked to see what had happened the day their father had died, Aurora began to scream uncontrollably. "I don't want to see any more death," she sobbed inconsolably, covering her face as Lorena sighed softly. "No more death then, Aurora. Only pleasant memories then," Lorena noted softly as Aurora finally began to calm down. At least she stopped screaming. She couldn't get the sight of her mother's lifeless body being clasped tightly by their father out of her mind.
