Vampire Jeongguk
Human Taehyung
Half-breed Chae-Ri (their daughter)
Jeongguk and Taehyung have a cursed fate. Their love was always bound to go wrong and there was nothing that either of them could do about it. Jeongguk always swore to keep his husband and daughter safe no matter what, and when push comes to shove, he knows he has to stay true to his words.
*******
“I love you, Taehyung.” Jeongguk groans as a tight heat envelops his dick.
Taehyung whined, head thrown backwards as he rocked up and down on Jeongguk’s cock.
“Shhh, baby.” Jeongguk whispered, “You don’t want anyone to hear us, do you?”
Taehyung shook his head frantically, eyes screwed shut as Jeongguk thrusted up into his prostate. His back was arched in pleasure and he wanted nothing more than to moan in satisfaction as Jeongguk sucked a mark onto his neck, but he knew he couldn’t make a sound. Instead he brought his head forwards and locked lips together with Jeongguk’s in a bruising kiss.
“Fuck babe, you smell so good.” Jeongguk moaned into Taehyung’s neck, “you smell so fucking good, Tae. I wanna mark you so bad.”
“C-can’t.” Taehyung grit out, breath hitching as Jeongguk’s warm hand gripped his cock and played with his sensitive head. “You k-know we c-can't Gukkie.”
Jeongguk sighed in response, tightening his grip around Tae’s cock and moving his hand faster.
“A-Ahh” Taehyung moaned breathlessly, biting his lips to prevent another moan escaping. “G-gonna cum, Gukkie. I’m go-”
Taehyung came with a silent cry as he gripped Jeongguk’s biceps and rode out his orgasm. Jeongguk followed shortly after, fangs bared as he tried to control his urge to mark Taehyung. He stared down at the wooden floor and tried to look away from Taehyung’s tanned skin before he did something he knew they’d both regret. The sound of Taehyung’s warm, rushing blood was tantalising but he held back, for both their sakes.
Jeongguk closed his eyes and breathed deeply, relaxed a bit by Taehyung who was softly running a hand through his hair.
“You did so well, Gukkie.” Taehyung praised. “You did so good.” Jeongguk sat panting, eyes closed in exhaustion. He wrapped his arm around Taehyung’s waist and hugged him closer.
“I’m sorry, Gukkie. I’m so sorry.” Tae whispered.
Jeongguk shook his head.
“It’s not your fault, Tae. I know we can’t, so I shouldn’t keep asking.” Jeongguk mumbled.
“Yeah, but-”
“It’s my responsibility to keep you and Chae safe, and that has to come first before any stupid primal instincts. I just have to fight them and we’ll all be safe.” Jeongguk said firmly.
Taehyung didn’t like how much pressure Jeongguk was putting on himself. It made him feel useless and guilty because he couldn’t give back to Jeongguk, yet all he did was take. How long could he defy the laws of nature for? How long could Jeongguk fight his instincts for until he crumbled under the intense burden? Taehyung hated that he’d made Jeongguk give up a part of himself for-
“Stop thinking like that, hun.” Jeongguk mumbled softly. “You didn’t make me do anything. I chose to fall in love with you, and I knew damn well what the consequences were. But I'm happy. I'd go through anything to be with you, Tae. It's nobody’s fault things are the way they are.”
There was something so comforting about Jeongguk being able to hear his thoughts. It almost made their bond stronger, with Jeongguk there to wordlessly comfort Taehyung things were too much for the brunette to bare.
Taehyung sniffled and got off Jeongguk’s cock. He grabbed a rag from nearby and cleaned them both up, before handing Jeongguk his trousers. He walked around their little hut and took out some bread that was sitting in the oven. He handed a little piece to Guk and sat back down on his lap.
“I’m gonna have to feed again today, Tae.” Jeongguk said quietly.
“I know.” Taehyung whispered. “I’ll take Chae-ri to Seokjin’s.”
“Are you two gonna be okay?” Jeongguk asked.
“We’ll be fine, Gukkie. This isn’t the first time we’ve done this. You don’t have to worry so much, you big baby.” Taehyung smiled.
“Ah, well excuse me for worrying about my husband and daughter.” Jeongguk scoffed playfully.
Taehyung squeaked.
“I am not your husband!”
“Yes, you are!”
“No, I am not! You have to marry me properly, first!”
“One day, babe. We'll get married and I'll shout it to everyone on the streets. Kim Taehyung is my husband!” Jeongguk grinned.
“I can’t wait for that day, Gukkie. We'll be able to go out in the daytime together.” Taehyung sighed dreamily. Jeongguk hummed in agreement and kissed Taehyung softly on the lips.
“I love you, Tae.”
“I love you too, Jeonggukie. Promise me you’ll stay safe when you go and hunt today.” Taehyung whispered, “I don’t want them to get you.”
“I’ll be alright, love. I can run faster than them, remember?”
“Yeah but you can’t outrun a gun, Gukkie.” Taehyung shuddered at the thought. “Just promise me you’ll be safe. And try not to show anyone what you are or they’ll take you away to the castle. Oh god, I can’t bear to lose you, Guk. I just can’t. I don’t want you to go there.”
“I promise, Tae. We'll be alright. This isn’t the first time I've done this, you big baby.” Jeongguk smiled weakly. “We’ll be fine. I won’t let them get me.”
Jeongguk was a vampire. A malicious, blood-sucking, villainous vampire who killed and attacked everyone and everything in his way. Except he wasn’t actually malicious or villainous and he didn’t attack everyone and everything in is way. He did suck blood but that was hardly his fault he was born that way. He never drank from innocent people, but the authorities didn’t know that, nor did they care. To them, all vampires were evil satanic creations that deserved to die slowly and painfully for having the audacity to exist.
So he had to hide.
Vampires were rare, so humans found it easy to gang up on them and kill them, and for centuries, Jeongguk had no choice but to run with the shadows and survive day by day.
Until he met Taehyung.
Sweet and bubbly Taehyung who’s smile shone brighter than all the suns Jeongguk had ever seen in his long and torturous lifetime. Kind and beautiful Taehyung who didn’t judge Jeongguk for what he was, and maybe even began to love him harder because of it. Bright and colourful Taehyung who stood by Jeongguk and made him smile when times got tough.
When Taehyung got pregnant.
When patience was tested.
Taehyung had stood beside Jeongguk through thick and thin, and for the first time in over 106 years, Jeongguk was truly happy. He’d do anything to protect his family. To protect the people who made him feel whole again. To grasp the feeling and hold onto it for as long as he could, because he knew it wouldn’t last forever; it never did.
An ancient malediction spoken upon him by an old, spiteful man who’d lost his wife to vampires. Blinded by his rage and odium against the one who had taken the love of his life away, he had damned every last beast in sight, and Jeongguk was unfortunate to have been the only one just standing there, while the man had thrown out curses.
And unfortunate was an immense understatement. In his heartbroken state, the old man had imprecated that Jeongguk was to suffer a lifetime of torture. To have his heart broken over and over again until the emotional pain was too much for him to bear. He was sentenced to the fate of meeting the love of his life and having him die in his arms each time. Jeongguk wouldn’t age, but everyone else around him would and he had no choice but to watch those he cared about slip through his fingers.
Taehyung and Chae-ri weren’t even the first ones.
Jeongguk's heart was barely intact, with the amount of times he’d had it ripped out before. Destined to meet Taehyung and watch him die each time, for the rest of his life. There was something different about Taehyung every time he came around, and it was always another thing for Jeongguk to get attached to before having to let go all too soon.
Even his precious daughter, Chae-ri, was always taken away from him. Echos of her in the past began to swarm his head, saying “Daddy! Daddy look at the flowers!” “Daddy! Daddy watch me dance!” “Daddy! Daddy look at the pretty butterflies!” “Daddy! Daddy I’m scared!” “Don’t let them take me away, Daddy.” “Am I going to die, Daddy?” “I don’t want to die, Daddy. Save me!” “I want to stay with you and papa.” “I love you, Daddy.” “Goodbye, Daddy.”
(I don’t know if I've explained it well but basically Jeongguk can’t die naturally, and has been cursed with the fate of watching Taehyung grow up, falling in love with him, and having to also watch him die, over and over again. It's been going on for centuries, and nobody but Jeongguk knows it happens. Each time he respawns, Taehyung doesn’t have the memory of his past, in fact, it’s basically a new person, but it’s still Tae if that makes sense lmaooo. He has to meet Jeongguk for the first time and fall in love each time, and they have a happy family, but when he dies, that’s it, and Jeongguk has to wait several centuries for another Taehyung to be born, and the whole thing starts all over again. Literally the same concept as Meliodas and Elizabeth from Seven Deadly Sins lol)
At the twisted memory of his daughter’s last words, Jeongguk felt bile rise at the back of his throat, but he closed his eyes and willed the distressing memory to go away. He pulled Taehyung even closer, burying his nose into his neck and inhaling his intoxicating scent of lavender.
They sat in a comforting silence and ate the bread, enjoying each other’s company while they could. Soon, Taehyung would have to leave the safe place of their little hut and venture outside to take Chae-ri home from Namjoon’s place. Taehyung’s friend Namjoon was like a gift from God himself. He took care of Chae-ri during the daytime and created the illusion that she was his maid, when in reality, he was actually teaching her how to read and write, so she could fend for herself when the time came.
Chae-ri was a human/vampire hybrid, and they were generally frowned upon in society, since it meant that one of your parents was a piece of shit and the other was a traitor. But Jeongguk knew that if she fought hard enough, she could gain respect in their tiny little village, thanks to her human side, and he intended to use that sad little truth to help her better herself.
“You should go now, Tae. Before it gets too dark.” Jeongguk mumbled.
Taehyung nodded his head and got up, stretching his limbs as far as he could in their low little mud hut. He slipped on his worn-out sandals and trudged towards the door made out of sticks.
“Be safe, Gukkie.” Taehyung sighed, “No matter what, make sure you come back to me and Chae. We'll be here tomorrow at dawn. And please stay away from the castle.” He said, before leaving the hut to go and take Chae-ri to Seokjin’s house.
Jeongguk sighed, throwing himself out like a starfish on his straw bed. The sun was going to set soon, which meant he still had a little while to wait before he could go out and hunt. His hunt usually consisted of drinking blood from rabbit and deer or any other animals he could find, and bringing them back to the hut for Chae-ri and Taehyung to cook.
The taste of animal blood was nowhere near as satisfying as that of a human, and Jeongguk often felt sick after going for these hunts, but it kept him alive and that meant he could see his gorgeous husband and beautiful daughter every day, so he wasn’t complaining.
Their smiles encouraged him to brave the foul taste and live for another day. It was all worth it to see them happy. He sat up, ruffling his black hair and rising off the bed. He'd have to leave a bit earlier since he had something else to do before his hunt. He didn’t tell Taehyung because he knew the other male would worry about it too much and he already had so much going on inside his pretty little head.
Jeongguk didn’t want to worry him further when he was already doing an amazing job in handling everything. It was a simple task, and there was no way it wasn’t going to go well, so Guk didn’t see the point in telling Taehyung.
He was only going to go to the castle to talk to someone.
No big deal.
Jeongguk slipped on his shoes and left the house, bathed in the shadows of the starry night, and he made his way through the woods to get to the castle. He walked swiftly, eyes scanning about to make sure he wasn’t being followed. The neighbours were already suspicious of him, since they never saw him during the daytime, and Jeongguk wouldn’t put it past those nosy pricks to be following him right now.
The twigs crunched and snapped under the weight of his shoes as Jeongguk wove in and out of the trees, taking a mental note of where all the animals were laying. The grey concentric castle came into view, standing tall and domineering over the little medieval town, and if Jeongguk’s heart were ever to beat, he was sure it’d be moving erratically right now. He sighed heavily, fingers twitching with nervousness as he began walking towards the castle. As he approached the heavy wooden gate, he briefly wondered if he should’ve told Taehyung where he was going, just in case something went wrong, but he quickly dismissed those thoughts.
Nothing was going to go wrong.
The wooden barrier stood tall and strong in front of Jeongguk, who suddenly felt so small. He reached a pale hand forwards and knocked twice on the gate, before sprinting off into the distance and hiding behind a dark brown tree. The chains rattled and jingled, protesting at the weight of the gate as it was lowered towards the ground. Two dumbfounded guards stuck their heads round, looking for whoever knocked. They shared looks of confusion, arms resting on the hilt of their swords, ready to attack at any moment. But unfortunately, they were not ready for Jeongguk to appear behind them and hit them on the head with a log he found on the ground. The second guard let out a noise in alarm, calling for help, but one sharp swing from Jeongguk’s balled fist was enough to knock him out and shut him up.
It was extremely tempting for Jeongguk, smelling the fresh blood that oozed from their limp heads. He bit back a moan, eyes fluttering closed as he breathed in the scent, the sweet smell of ichor that dripped down wastefully and stained the vibrant green grass a deep, dirty brown. Jeongguk could feel his heart begin to clench in anticipation, fangs already protruding in hopes of feeding off the men on the ground, but deep down, Jeongguk knew he couldn’t.
It wouldn’t be fair to Taehyung.
He owed Taehyung everything.
He shook his head and stepped over the two guards on the floor, creeping in through the castle doors. The halls were bleak and empty, grey bricks lining the walls and creepy old paintings hung in every available space. He stuck to the shadows and the darker parts of the hall, and snuck around, looking for a particular door. After about 2 minutes of wandering around, Jeongguk found what he was looking for. The door was brown and splintering, with mould running round like a sickening decoration. Jeongguk shuddered and knocked on the door twice. The door creaked open a little and a cat-like eye peered cautiously through the gap.
“Jeon. It's you! It's been a while, hasn’t it? I wasn’t sure you’d actually come.” The voice said in surprise.
“Yeah. Long-time no see. You gonna let me in or what?” Jeongguk smirked.
“Shut up you idiot. I'll let you in whenever I feel like it.”
“Yeah, and in the meantime, the guards can take you away for bringing a vampire into the building. Cut the crap, Yoongi and just let me in.” Jeongguk sighed, rolling his eyes as he stepped into the dimly lit room behind Yoongi.
“Asshole.” Yoongi muttered.
“Bitch.” Jeongguk shot back.
He walked over to the little pouch of water that was sitting on the side, and poured some over his hands. He ignored Yoongi’s scowl and continued to clean the blood off his hands.
“You gonna talk or what?” He asked nonchalantly.
“Yeah. I got news for you. It’s about Taehyung.” Yoongi began, watching as Jeongguk’s eyes briefly flickered towards him.
“What about him?”
“He’s in danger. You all are, actually.”
“W-what do you mean? What's going on?” Jeongguk pressed.
“They’re coming for you. The king, I mean. He's got a whole thing planned. Gonna raid the town in three days and hunt for any stray vampires. You're at the top of his list for your shifty behaviour. Bound to happen eventually if you ask me.” Yoongi mumbled.
“Fuck.” Jeongguk said.
“Fuck indeed. There's not really much I can do to help ya this time round. Gonna have to do this one on your own, kid.” Yoongi said somewhat apologetically. “I’m sure you’ll think of something, Jeon.”
They stayed in silence for a while, ransacking their brains to find anything that resembled a plan. Jeongguk’s mind was whirring, head thumping aggressively as he tried to think of ways to save his family. It was too soon. He couldn’t lose them yet; they had only just begun.
“Ah shit.” Jeongguk groaned, tugging his black locks in frustration. “I don’t know what to do, Yoongi. I don’t know. I don’t know how to save them. There's nowhere to run to; there’s nowhere to go.”
Yoongi was silent for a moment, before he spoke up.
“You could just stay here.” He said.
“In the castle? Are you fucking mad?” Jeongguk scoffed.
“No, you idiot. Not in the castle. In town. You don’t have to run. I know a place. A place underground where nobody would think to check.”
“I’ll take it. Any way to keep Taehyung and Chae-ri safe. I’ll do it.” Jeongguk said.
“It’s a little bunker underground. It’s not too far from your place, so it shouldn’t be hard to get there. It's big enough for you three to fit there, and since you don’t even have to eat, you’ll be fine in terms of food. It's good. It might work, Jeon.” Yoongi said with a small smile on his face.
“Thank fuck. Yoongi I really owe you my life.” Jeongguk smiled gratefully. “We’re all gonna be fine, thanks to you.”
Yoongi’s smile suddenly dropped, and his eyebrows furrowed again.
“Ah, shit.” He groaned.
“What? What is it?” Jeongguk enquired.
“There’s a problem. A real big dick-sucking problem.”
“It doesn’t matter. I'll do it. I'll handle it. Whatever it is, I'll do it all for my family.” Jeongguk said determinedly.
“Just tell me what it is and I'll do it.”
“Well,” Yoongi said, “the problem is-”

“Jeonggukie I told you not to bring so many rabbits back!” Taehyung squealed as he walked through the door with Chae-ri. “You’re gonna look suspicious!” He scolded, but he couldn’t fight the smile on his face.
Jeongguk knew rabbit was his favourite.
“I couldn’t leave them all there otherwise it’d look suspicious.” Jeongguk smiled. “I’m already cooking some right now, so you and Chae should bring out the bread. “
“Okay daddy!” Chae-ri beamed, skipping over to the little oven across the room.
“Not so fast, princess,” Jeongguk said, scooping her up into his arms and giving her a tight hug, “You didn’t tell me about your day! What did you learn with Mr Namjoon?”
“It was really fun, Daddy! I learned how to spell vampire! Mr Namjoon said you’d like it if I showed you! Look!” She cheered, bringing out a crumpled piece of paper from her pocket and shoving it in Jeongguk’s face.
“Wow, Chae-ri, that’s amazing! I'm so proud of you!” Jeongguk beamed, happy his daughter was having fun and learning, “Did you show papa?”
“I did! I did! Papa said he doesn’t know what is means but it looks very pretty! Is mr Namjoon going to teach papa how to read one day?” Chae-ri asked.
“It’s a bit too late for me, Ri.” Taehyung said softly, “For now, you just try really hard and learn enough for the both of us, yeah?”
Chae-ri nodded her head enthusiastically and curled further into Jeonguk’s warm embrace.
“I’m hungry, Daddy. Is it time to eat yet?”
“Give it a little bit longer, okay? You can go and have some bread while you wait, yeah? Go on then.” Jeongguk said gently, and he set her down on the floor and watched her skip over to the oven once more.
“What’s wrong, babe?” Jeongguk said, pulling Taehyung into his arms. “I’m just a bit worried, that’s all.” Taehyung said.
“About what?”
“I-It’s nothing, don’t worry.” Taehyung mumbled.
“You can tell me, pet. It's alright.” Jeongguk said. He was aware that he could just link Taehyung’s thoughts, but it would be disrespectful to do to his love who was clearly struggling.
“I-I’m just a bit worried, you know? I just feel like something bad is going to happen.” Taehyung sniffled, “It’s stupid, I know. But ever since you left for your hunt, I just haven't been able to shake
this apprehensive feeling.”
Jeongguk stiffened a bit, but Taehyung still noticed.
“What? What is it? What do you know, Gukkie?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it, hun.” Jeongguk whispered.
“Jeonggukie you know you can’t keep it a secret forever. We're in this together, right? Just tell me what bad thing you know about and I don't.” Tae said softly, running a hand through Jeongguk's locks.
Jeongguk looked over Taehyung’s shoulder, to check if Chae-Ri wasn’t listening. Luckily, she was eating her bread peacefully and writing some stuff on her paper.
Guk sighed.
“I went to the castle today.” He mumbled with his eyes closed.
Taehyung’s hands dropped from his head.
“You did not.” He gasped, shoving Jeongguk in the chest. “Are you fucking stupid?”
“Tae-”
“What an incredibly stupid thing to do. What if you had died, Guk? How could you be so-”
“Taehyung-”
“I want to kill you right now. I'd probably do a better job than the castle would. My fucking god Guk I'm really struggling to understand what on God’s green earth you’d need from the place that is actively trying to kill you. You don’t even-”
“I have a friend there. He-”
“It’s not much of a friend if he drags you off to-”
“Taehyung. Please just listen. I know it’s fucked up, okay? But this is important.”
Taehyung huffed and ran a hand through his hair and tried to calm himself down. He sighed in frustration and rested his head on Guk’ shoulder. Gentle hands rubbed his back soothingly, and though he was still fuming, Taehyung allowed Guk to continue talking.
“My friend’s name is Yoongi. I've known him for about 10 years now. He works with the king-”
“HE WORKS WITH THE-”
“And he’s against the anti-vampire shit. Okay, Tae? He's on our side, babe. Don’t worry. He wants to help. He has helped.” Guk said, running a hand through Taehyung’s brown hair.
“Helped with what? What's wrong, Gukkie?”
“Well since he works alongside the king, he gets the majority of the valuable information first. And he’s just been notified about the king’s latest scheme.”
“Don’t use big words, Gukkie.” Taehyung whined. “Go slower you brat.”
Guk smiled and kissed Taehyung sweetly on his pouting lips.
He really didn’t want to lose his family.
“The king tells Yoongi all his plans, and then Yoongi tells me. It's about vampires this time.” Jeongguk said slowly, watching as Taehyung nodded in understanding. “In three days, he’s going to raid the town and he’s coming for us first.”
Taehyung’s face paled and he gripped onto Jeongguk tighter. He didn’t say anything, but his mind was whirring at a thousand miles per second. What the fuck are we supposed to do? Oh my fucking god. I’m not ready to die. I don’t want my precious baby to die. And if Jeonggukie dies, I don’t know how I’d cope. Oh dear god, why? Why us? Why can’t we just be happy? I shouldn’t have sent him out so many times. It's my fault for not helping out more. I should’ve gone to hunt instead, and then all of this would-”
“Taehyung,” Guk warned, I don’t want you thinking like that, okay? None of this is your fault. There's nothing you could do to stop the king being a useless piece of shit. You and Chae-ri won’t die, babe. Yoongi and I came up with a plan to save you guys. I’ll protect you two until the end of my days; you know that, TaeTae. I won’t let anything happen to the ones I love.”
Taehyung nodded and sniffled, pressing himself even closer to his lover.
“I love you too, Jeongguk.” he said, kissing him passionately. They pulled away and Taehyung sniffled some more.
“Cmon love. Let's go eat. I'll tell you the rest later.” Jeongguk said, walking over to his daughter and going to give her some food.
There was no need to worry.
Everything was under control.
His plan wouldn’t fail.
This was all going to end well.
Right?
***
Two days had passed Jeongguk was practically shitting himself. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. Everything felt slightly off, and Guk couldn’t place his finger on what was different. He sighed, running a hand through his dark black hair
and sat up in his bed.
Taehyung was beside him, sleeping peacefully as he cradled his daughter in his arms. The sight brought an intense warmth to Guk’s heart, and a small smile stretched across his face.
It was everything he’d ever wanted.
He got up from the bed and went to find a piece of paper. Whenever he went out without Tae’s knowledge, he’d always draw him a small picture of where he was going, seeing as Tae couldn’t read. It was their little game. He'd always sign it off with I love you since that was the only thing Taehyung could be bothered to learn how to read. It was so endearing seeing him write it basically everywhere he could.
After explaining where he was going to, Guk set off.
He walked briskly, feeling as though he couldn’t get there fast enough. He felt sick. His mind was screaming at him to turn back and check up on his family, but his legs kept walking in the opposite direction. He was so conflicted.
Eventually, Jeongguk ended up in front of his final destination; the castle.
Now was not the time to fuck around with the guards, so he went round the back and slipped in through the kitchen door. Yoongi worked in the kitchens, and so Guk bet his money that his friend would be in there.
Except he wasn’t.
Jeongguk crept in cautiously, looking around for suspicious behaviour. What the fuck? He thought. Yoongi’s always in here.
Extremely confused, he walked out of the kitchen and into the corridors of the castle. He was going to check if Yoongi was in the gardens instead. He kept to the shadows and moved swiftly, evading the sight of those who passed him.
But for some reason, he ended up not going to the gardens.
A deep gut feeling of his told him to check elsewhere.
He found himself running towards Yoongi’s room, unable to shake the feeling that something was horribly wrong. He stood in front of his friend’s door, which was slightly ajar, and immediately Guk knew something terrible had happened.
Yoongi never left his door open.
The vampire gulped nervously, before pushing the door open. He looked around but nobody was around. Yoongi wasn’t there either. He was about to turn around and leave, until a figure on the floor in front of him caught his eye. He moved closer and was repulsed at the sight. The body was bleeding from the side and there was a deep gash on the head. The body seemed to be shaking profusely and shivering. The fingers twitched and the chest heaved up and down with great effort. The head lolled to face Guk and it took all of the vampire's strength to not scream and collapse to the floor.
It was Yoongi.
Yoongi’s near lifeless eyes flickered over Jeongguk’s distraught frame and a weak smile graced over his pale face.
“Run.” He breathed, before his eyes shut completely and his body went completely limp. Guk stood there shaking, his body shivering with disbelief.
Who did this to him? Why? What did they know? Why should he run? While all these questions were swarming around his mind, the door creaked
open and a cold voice spoke.
“I knew he’d lead us to you.”
Jeongguk turned around and was met with the sight of a short man with dirty blonde hair and yellow teeth. His smile was sinister and his hand was resting confidently on the sword on his hip. It had blood dripping from it and it was undoubtedly Yoongi’s. Guk’s eyes flashed red with anger and he bared his fangs at the idiot by the door.
“I knew he was hanging out with your kind. You dirty piece of shit. Beasts like you don’t deserve to live.”
“But why did Yoongi have to die?” Guk whispered.
“Oh? You can speak? That's surprising. Either way it won’t stop me from killing you.” The guy smiled evilly.
“But why did you have to kill Yoongi? What did he do? It's me you want. What the fuck did Yoongi have to with any of this?” Jeongguk growled angrily.
Yoongi was his best friend.
“Your little slut boyfriend was in the way.” The guy shrugged, and in an instant, Jeongguk had him held up against the wall in an unforgiving choke hold.
“Fuck you.” He said, staring right into the other man’s eyes. “Die. You deserve to die. DIE!” He roared, crushing the man’s throat in his hands. The body dropped to the floor and Jeongguk flickedthe bits of flesh off his hands.
Unfortunately, the commotion had alerted more people that there was an intruder in the castle, and soon a group of 10 people were standing at the door, swords drawn out menacingly towards Jeongguk.
The vampire cursed aggressively under his breath and quickly scanned the room. There was no way he’d be able to take them all on at once.
He’d have to make a run for it.
Without thinking, he flung the guard’s lifeless body at the men at the door and bolted through them when he stepped out of the way. It was a shitty plan and he was honestly quite surprised it worked.
Whatever. There was no time for that. He had to go protect his family. He could hear the horses galloping behind him and he began to panic. He didn’t want to lead them straight to Taehyung and Chae-Ri. Instead, he weaved in and out of the tall green trees, counting on the fact that the horses weren’t as nimble as him. When he was sure the guards were gone, he began to make his way back to the hut, running and hiding whenever there was any movement behind him.
He burst through the hut door and was met with the sight of Taehyung and Chae-Ri playing together.
Guk’s breathing was ragged and he was covered in blood, but he didn’t quite care in that moment.
He knew he had to get them out of there; fast.
“G-gukkie what’s-”
“We need to go. Now.” He panted, running over to the oven and shoving vegetables and bread into his pockets.
“Taehyung, we need to go now.”
“I-I don’t understand, love. W-what's happening?” Taehyung stuttered.
“They’re coming.” Is all Guk said, frantically trying to collect things around the hut. “They’re coming
now and we’re finished if they find us. We need to get to the bunker. Now, Tae come on!” Jeongguk shouted, scooping up his daughter in his arms and ushering his lover out of the door.
They began to run, Taehyung in the lead and Jeongguk close behind with Chae-Ri on his back. The bunker was quite a while away, but Guk was confident that they’d make it.
That is until, a loud shout broke out behind them.
“SIEZE THEM!” The king roared, sending a fleet of armed men on horseback behind the Jeons.
“Shit.” Jeongguk cursed as he saw the army of men behind him. They were so close to the bunker, they were so close to being safe.
“Taehyung!” Guk called, “I’m going to get Chae-Ri there first! Hang on and I’ll come back for you!”
He began to run even faster, cursing himself for not being able to hold them both at once. The silver bunker came into view and Jeongguk exhaled in relief. He crouched down and took his daughter off his back, opening the doors and helping her inside.
“Baby, listen to me, okay? Stay in here and don’t make a sound. Papa and I will come back for you.” Jeongguk said, kissing her on the head and handing her a piece of bread. “I love you, okay? I’ll be back.” Tears formed in his eyes as Chae-Ri looked around worriedly.
He wanted everything to turn out alright.
Jeongguk began to run back towards Taehyung, praying with all his might that the love of his life was alright. He kept going until he passed a bush with a tuft of brown hair sticking out behind it.
“Tae baby. Is that you?” Guk called out, relief washing over him when Taehyung came out of the bush and ran up to him.
“Jeonggukie.” He sniffled, clearly overwhelmed with the whole situation. Jeongguk didn’t blame him.
“It’s me babe. It's me. I'm here.” He said, embracing Taehyung and pressing a kiss onto his head.
“Are you alright?” He asked, scanning his body for cuts.
“I’m fine but-”
Taehyung was cut off when an arrow flew past them and landed in a tree trunk.
“THEY’RE OVER THERE!” A voice hollered, and the sound of horses and shouting filled the air again.
Taehyung shrieked in fear and his legs buckled. Jeongguk caught him before he hit the ground and held him bridal style. He began to run again, the king’s men close behind him this time. He was so fucking tired but he knew he had to keep going or he’d lose everything.
He reached the bunker and wrenched the door open again.
The shouts of the king’s men were so close.
He helped Taehyung down the ladder and then started to close the door; with himself on the outside.
“Wait Jeonggukie what’s happening?” Taehyung asked frantically, watching as an apologetic smile graced his lovers face.
“I’m sorry, love. I just want you two to be safe.” He smiled sadly.
“I-I don’t understand-”
“It can only be closed from the outside, love. I just want you two to be safe. I'll find a way out here-”
“JEONGGUKIE NO!” Taehyung screamed, pushing and banging against the door so that it couldn’t be closed.
“Daddy don’t leave!” Chae-Ri cried, stretching her small hand out and holding Jeongguk’s hand.
“I’m sorry, baby. I have to.” He whispered, holding her small hand in his. He could hear the horses
galloping and he knew they didn’t have much time.
“Wait! Gukkie if you have to go then please take this!” Taehyung cried, holding out his golden brooch towards the vampire. When he strectched his hand down to take it, the brunette yanked his wrist and pulled him down into the bunker with them.
“Taehyung-”
Taehyung shoved Jeongguk as hard as he could and watched as he crashed into concrete walls with a loud and painful bang. He took that as he que and began to climb up the ladder towards the door.
“Papa loves you, okay Chae-Ri? Make sure you study hard and make me proud.” He called to his pride and joy, watching as she sat there and cried.
He was so sorry.
All of a sudden, there was a strong grip on his leg and a force tried to pull him down. Frantically, Taehyung kicked and squirmed, pushing Jeongguk off him and turning around.
“Fuck you, Jeongguk. You never married me.” He smiled painfully and hauled himself out of the bunker, feeling guilty that he’d injured the love of his life.
But it was the only way.
The screams of the castle workers filled Taehyung’s ears and they were running right at him, swords and all.
He looked down at his lover and child, and blew them a kiss.
Tears were sparkling in Jeongguk’s hurt-filled eyes and Taehyung had to look away.
“I love you two.” He smiled beautifully, before closing the door shut. He wasn’t sure how it would open, but he figured Jeongguk would have a plan.
“I LOVE YOU!” He called again, before turning and running away again, with the guards hot on his heels. Arrows were fired at him; maybe 10, maybe 100, Taehyung wasn’t sure. He didn’t have time to think past anything except the burning desire to run far, far away.
But he knew luck wasn’t on his side.
It was oddly peaceful when the arrow sunk into his back and pierced through him.
He had no regrets.
He had lived, he had loved, and he had been loved too.
The last thing he remembers hearing before the darkness enveloped him is the echo of Jeongguk in a fond memory, whispering sweetly in his ear: I love you, Taehyung.
