Autumn. The dying of a summer love (angst)

Turtle neck top, making his neck itch but he liked to dress up like this since it was autumn. A small smile over his face as he walked through the cemented sidewalk. Soft breeze hitting his face, messing with his curly hair.

His slender legs were walking forward towards the public park that was far away from his home but he loved to go there, it holds so many memories for him.

It was that one day in summer, cicadas chirping as he was taking his flower covered cycle to the park just to read "call me by your name" that he had purchased the day before. Square glasses perked up his nose, he rode his cycle in his shorts and summer t-shirt hurriedly since mom had told him to come home before the sun sets.

Mom knew he was gay and she had no problem with it and taehyung, the black haired male felt so glad to have such a mother, although she always said to him "your kind of love doesn't always have good endings, tae"

Parking his cycle, he rushed towards "his spot", making himself comfortable with his water bottle and book. Adjusting his glasses, he opened the book, the smell of the fresh paper hitting his nose as he smiled.

His eyes roamed over the words, translated into Korean, it was easier to read the book. He was too immersed in reading the book that he didn't see a boy standing in front of him, until the urge to drink water rose.

He looked up to see a boy staring at him and he yelped.

"Geez, boy, you scared me" he exclaimed as he clutched his chest.

"Sorry. I find you deeply indulged into reading which made me curious. What are you reading?" the boy said and taehyung oddly found him interesting. A little broader nose, doe eyes, fair skin, black hair, lighter than his, but what attracted him the most were his bunny lips, covered with some chapstick.

"This. I was reading call me by your name" taehyung smiled.

"Your name?" the boy asked as he sat beside taehyung whose heart fluttered because of their closeness.

"Taehyung. Kim taehyung" he addressed.

"And yours?" he asked.

"Jeon jungkook"

That's how on a summer day taehyung met a boy named jeon jungkook who caused flutters in his heart by whatever he did and made him blush just by looking in his eyes.

Taehyung knew he was growing feelings for him but he was scared to tell it to the other, scared that it wouldn't be the same for the other.

But then it happened. On a summer afternoon, sitting under the tree, talking like usual, taehyung ranting about something that happened in the school, his remaining words unspoken when jungkook curled his hand around his nape and pulled him in for a kiss. His wide eyes and raging heart could be heard by the other.

It grew. From a summer afternoon kiss to a proposal in the heat of the sun, taehyung laughing because of how the other confessed that he is dead because of the heat as soon as taehyung accepted his proposal.

Years and summers passed by, their love blooming and deepening for each other. The oak tree carved with their names together for a memory. From little, cute fights to first time sex in the night by the lake. Everything bounded in the park.

Everything.

That summer, taehyung waiting for his lover to come as he patiently waited with a ring in his pocket, excited and nervous for him being the one to initiate the proposal.

He waited.

Summer ended, leaving taehyung sad that he didn't come. He called, he visited his house, he contacted his peers but there was no sign of him.

Taehyung thought he left, without informing him. That end of the summer, he stayed near the oak, crying his eyes out, the ring long thrown in the lake. Feeling heartbroken and desperate to see his lover, ask him reasons and questions.

He still waited.

Autumn came, he still went to the park everyday. That one ray of hope still keeping him intact.

And there he saw, a man coming towards him wearing turtle neck top. His happiness knew no bounds as waterfalls started through his eyes.

He is ready to jump in the lake to find the ring back. His lover came back.

"Jungkook!" taehyung ran to him, hugging the death out of him but felt confused that the other didn't hug him back.

He broke the hug and looked at him with confusion.

"I'm getting married, tae"

Taehyung smiled as he reached the park. The book in his hand, some pages torn out and others turned yellow, that fresh smell long gone.

He walked towards the oak, smiling sadly as he lightly traced his fingers through the carved letters.

TH+JK

He sighed as he touched the tree with his palm.

"It's been 7 years" tear droplets dropped on the grass as he hung his head low. He sat down on the grass, head resting on the bark, eyes closed, feeling the book in his hand.

The dried leaves were falling on him but not like he cared. He stopped caring a long time ago.

He heard the leaves crusting beneath someone's steps and he couldn't help but smile.

"Summer's gone, what are you doing here?" he asked as he stood up.

Heart stopping just the way it did that summer day, flutters occurring just the way it did on that summer afternoon and tears occurring in his eyes just the way it did that autumn.

"Came here with my family" the other's voice was still the same. Melody to taehyung's ears but it hurt now, the melody hurt his ears.

"That's nice" taehyung said before picking up his book which got noticed by jungkook, making his eyes brim with tears.

"Why are you leaving? It wasn't my choice, tae" his voice cracked making taehyung's heart clench.

He made the other turn around, both teary eyed.

Taehyung smiled.

"It's autumn, i don't know you anymore" he spoke before taking the shattered pieces of his heart, his memories with jungkook and the book away with him.

The breeze flew on his face, drying his tears on his face yet that sad smile never wiped away from his face.

He never looked back, he dared not.

He is scared he'll want the other back which cannot happen and it would hurt everytime.

The dried leaves crushed beneath his shoes.

It was Autumn.

Autumn. The dying of a summer love.

Our love was like summer. It was good till it lasted.
