The Ending Dilemma

So, hear me out on this because at the end of it I'll need your thoughts about it. OK?!

Oh boy, I know many will come at me after this.

First you'll have to answer a couple of Yes & No questions for me:

Please don't mention either the books or the authors in your answers we are not here to drag anyone's work....

Just leave a simple No, Yes next to each question

1) Have you ever read a Taekook book that had an iconic ending "something you can't get out of your head that makes you remember the story no matter how hard you try to forget it maybe"?!

2) If your answer was a Yes, was that ending perhaps a sad or tragic ending?!

3) Again if your answer was a Yes does that mean you like sad angsty endings?!

4) If your answer is a No, then why do you mostly remember sad ending books?!

I have a feeling that angst won this time...

So between the whole concept of art imitates life. And authors claiming that sad endings are the most realistic ones because life is not always rainbows and butterflies and you have to grow up and accept life as it is. I just found myself stuck with the fact that I have to accept this and take what I'm offered and shut up.

I did shut up and started reading what I was given because honestly if I picked a book with a story line that contained a terminally ill character then I should expect death somewhere along the line. And I was OK with it.

But what I didn't expect is to read some books where everything is fine and my babies are finally together for it to end up traumatising me with one of them being kidnapped, rapped and ruthlessly mutilated and cut into pieces for no reason at all. "That happened in more than one book before you start pointing fingers"

But recently a very close friend of mine told me that Arab taekook authors prefer sad endings because they're the most memorable and talked about, and people always forget the fluffy happy books. I was shocked yet intrigued by this.

I mean do the authors go with sad or traumatic endings because they're the realistic ones or just because those are the ones that will make everyone talk and spread the book even more.

P. S: some books are meant to end sadly because otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. I'm talking about a chosen ending that has nothing to do with the structure of the book or the storyline and sometimes mistaken as a plot twist.

But, If you think I'm here to drag authors with angsty shocking endings, you better think twice because you need to get yourself ready for another set of questions.

Again leave a simple Yes, No. Please don't mention either authors or books in your answers

1) Have you ever started a book and found it fluffy, funny very entertaining then started to wonder what went wrong out of a sudden??

2) Have you ever felt the author probably lost their interest in book because of how inconsistent the story is becoming??

3) Do you forget books with cliché happy endings easily??

I'm starting to feel like some authors assume It has to be a cliché boring storylines just because it has a happy ending so they stop putting effort in it and be like yeah fuck it, readers should be thankful we are giving them a happy ending.

Honestly I've read so many of these books that I'm no longer surprised with the ridiculous huge number of reads they get and that makes them even sloppier.

Just because people will read happy ending books no matter what, doesn't mean authors can overlook quality and create a messy excuse of a book.

It's very saddening to see less and less people care about the quality of their finished product and instead become busy with producing more and more mediocre books to increase their headcount of reads and followers.

I'm not here to bash anyone in particular, at the end of the day everyone is here to have some good time. Authors don't get paid and readers have free fun time.

But, i hope we can all support the few new and old writers standing in the corner of the Taekook realm holding onto their perfected little stories that mostly no one would take a look at just because they have few reads.

And for the people who choose to trumatise their readers for a reaction, it's not a fuckin' prank show. Instead of investing so much energy in imagining those horrifying, creepy as fuck scenes, maybe use that time to come up with a fresh new concept or idea that would still bring you that wow effect you're looking for. But in a less triggering way.

I know that to each his own and I can't tell people what to write. That's something I 'll always stand by. And, believe it or not I've walked out of hundreds of books before without uttering a word of how disgusting, disturbing or disappointing the experience was for me.

And maybe you should also do the same, please don't criticise people harshly in their own books, simply walk away and I think they might notice one day when they lose readers and followers that something must be wrong.

So, finally to make myself clear. I'm not against angst and drama in general. On the contrary I believe they are some of the most essential elements in the development of the characters and plot.

I'm talking about some of the Ending patterns that I've been seeing a lot and they are:

1) Tragic or traumatising irrelevant endings that are used to evoke reactions from the readers regardless the shocked and negative nature of them.

2) Meaningless sappy or uneventful ending scene that follows a chaotic storyline that is full of so called fluff, smut and cute moments that can't fit into a decent plot because there wasn't one to begin with or the author simply doesn't care about such things.

Yet you still have the old and new Taekook authors who write both happy or angsty books with all kinds of endings be it realistic or not. But, they have the utmost respect for the minds of their readers and care about providing an amazing emotional experience with our Taekook babies.

Those are the writers I keep looking for and hope to share as many of them with you.

Alira,
