Unknown Saviour
Basing this chapter off a question I was asked the other day. 'If I could choose another job than what I do today, what would I do?' My reply was 'to become a paramedic'

"Good morning y/n" My colleague Emily greeted with a smile. "Good morning Em" I smiled as we both got into the ambulance. "How was your night?" She asked as she buckled herself in.
I sighed deeply, "the usual?" I nodded, "he slept on the couch."
Looking down I fiddled around with both of my engagement and wedding rings on my finger. "You can end this you know" looking up tears brimmed in my eyes. "I know, it's just" I paused as I looked out of the window. "It's hard to give it up. Everything we've had these past four years have just fallen to pieces."
Placing her hand onto my shoulder Emily sent me a reassuring smile. "Everything will be ok, don't you worry. Couples argue all the time and they eventually get back to their old selves. Take me and James for example, we argue all the time but after apologising and spending time with one another we begin to realise that fighting isn't always the answer."
Wiping away a stray fallen tear I smiled. "Thank you Em, b-but what if we don't get back to our old selves. What if he wants to file for a divorce? What if he finds someone better?"
"Trust me, you and Parker have the most beautiful relationship. The moment i introduced you both six years ago I knew he was going to be the one for you. Just how you connected was just beautiful. You both are too special to give up that now. Plus weren't you thinking about trying for a baby a while ago?"
I nodded. "Y-yes, but" I gulped. "Things just got complicated and I guess that was how our troubled relationship started." Emily frowned. "What do you mean things got complicated?"
"I had a miscarriage" I admitted. Emily's mouth fell ajar to my sudden statement. "Since when? Why didn't you tell me?" "I didn't want you or anyone to worry about it. We also wanted to wait until I was at least a month along to tell people. Within the first month of being pregnant things can happen to the baby, unfortunately in my case I had a miscarriage."
"I'm so sorry" Emily apologised as she wrapped her hand around mine, intertwining our fingers. "It's ok, it's not your fault." "So is this why you and Parker have been arguing this past month?" I nodded. "As much as I've been struggling with the miscarriage he also has too. We really thought this was it but I guess fate didn't want this to happen. I think he feels as though I'll never get pregnant again, therefore us both never having kids."'
"You will. Trust me, you are strong and that little miracle baby will come one day. Those things take time to heal from and fight through." Emily calmed. "What would I do without you?" I grinned. "You'll always have me. Now, let's get going."

"Calling into y/n and Emily." "Call receiving" I replied into the radio. "We've just had a call from a young woman saying she's just witnessed a car crash. Two males and one female are currently unconscious. Yunho and Dan are currently one of the first responders to the scene" "Ok, thank you. How far away?" Signalling Emily she began to turn the ambulance around. Typing the address onto the screen Emily set off the siren and began to drive to the scene.
Ending the call with the hospital I turned to Emily. "Two males and one female are unconscious after a car crash. Yunho and Dan are also on their way to the scene." "Ok" she replied as she drove through the mid afternoon traffic.
Once we arrived Emily pulled over into a safe place before we both got out and retrieved our emergency care bags.
Placing on my white gloves I approached Yunho. "What's the situation?"
"This male isn't responding, Dan and the fire department have been able to get response from the other drivers in the car ahead." He replied signalling to the impact on the black car. It's airbag had gone off and windshield was completely smashed.
"Yunho we need you" Dan shouted from the other car. "You go I'll take care of this male" I spoke as I leant down in Yunho's replacement.
"Hello Sir, can you hear me?" I asked the brown haired male as I gently cupped his cheeks. Feeling around there was no breakage to his neck. Checking his airways I sensed they were blocked, resting his head back I grabbed the oxygen mask.
Placing it over his face I began to gently squeeze air into his lungs. "If you can hear me just squeeze my hands" I called as I held onto the males bloody hand.
Pumping more air he then came to his senses. "Squeeze my hand if you can hear me." I repeated.
Seeing his eyes begin to haze, I knew there was hope. "My name is y/n ok, I'm here to help you."
Inspecting the rest of his body, his right arm was definitely broken along with windshield glass cutting open his skin.
Hearing a deep grumble escape from the male I removed his oxygen mask. Leaning close I spoke more louder. "What's your name. I'm y/n"
Watching his hand withdraw from mine I began to panic, "Yunho" I called. "YUNHO" I screamed.
Rushing to my aid he crouched next to me. "I think this male is going into a vegetative state." Checking the males awareness Yunho frowned. "He doesn't seem to be showing any meaningful responses, from his eyes nor responding to your voice. The recovery is extremely unlikely but not impossible."
"We need to get him out of the car and to the hospital so urgently." "Let me call fire department over, you go with Emily back to the hospital with the other two casualties, I'll take it from here." Yunho reassured.
Looking back to the unconscious male my heart fluttered ever so softly. I didn't want to leave him, but I had to.
"Please tell me what happens to him once you get him to the hospital" Yunho nodded. "Of course, now get going" he demanded.
Grabbing my bags I headed for Emily who was sitting with the young female. "She's conscious but she's loosing a lot of blood." Emily spoke as she held onto the patients wound. "You take care of her whilst I drive us to the hospital."
Closing the back doors do the ambulance I ran forwards and into the drivers seat. Buckling myself in and turning on the sirens I couldn't help but look over to Yunho who was dealing with the young male.
"Y/n" Emily called, snapping me out of my gaze.
Checking my surroundings a police officer guided me out of the scene.

Once we arrived nurses and doctors were already waiting for us by the A&E department.
With the young female on the stretcher we all pushed her into the hospital, nurses already doing their work.
"What's the situation?" The doctor asked. "Young female in her mid 20's we aren't sure of her name but she's hurt bad. She's loosing a lot of blood from her shoulder along with slight head damage." I replied.
"Thank you y/n, we'll take it from here."
Releasing my hand myself and Emily watched as the young girl was rushed into surgery.
"I hope she will be ok" Emily muttered. "I hope so too."
"What happened with Yunho and Dan?" She asked as we walked back to the ambulance.
"I'm not sure. Dan dealt with the young females partner while Yunho treated the other male. He wasn't coming too when I helped him." Emily sensed my concern for the other patient, "he'll be ok" she reassured.
1 week later
"Y/n" I've been looking everywhere for you" Yunho smiled as he took a seat next to me. "Ah yes sorry. I was called out earlier." "Everyone ok?" He asked in concern. "Yes, just a young girl broke her arm when she fell from her trampoline. Her father didn't know what to do so I was called out."
"By yourself?" Yunho asked as he took a sip of his coffee. "Yes, but small situations like that I can deal with them alone. Also how's that young male doing from last weeks car accident?"
"That's what I came to find you for. He's still in his vegetative state, but that shouldn't last no longer then four weeks. He's on the road to recovery."
I smiled happily. "That's great news" Yunho nodded. "Yes, but also one of his friends is asking for you. He wants to thank you. He's in room 288B"
Packing my lunch away I thanked Yunho with a pat on the shoulder before heading to the patient.

Gently knocking on the door i heard a soft 'come in' from the other side. Opening it up I was met with a blonde haired male. "I'm Hoseok, but you can call me Hobi, I'm Taehyung's friend." He smiled as he shook my hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm y/n and I believe you asked for me."
Taking a seat I inspected the patient. "So his name is Taehyung?" I asked Hobi. "Yes, he was sadly on his way to practice when the car crash happened."
Holding out my hand I placed it onto Taehyung's.
"Are you dancers?" I asked. "Yes, dancers and singers. We're in a band called BTS."
I raised my eyebrows in satisfaction. "That's amazing. But I'm also sorry for how this situation happened." "It's ok, police told us that it was the other drivers fault, they weren't concentrating as the male was on his phone." I rolled my eyes in anger.
"But the answer to your question is I asked for you to say thank you for helping Taehyung. He hasn't been in the best place recently and this hasn't really topped the icing on the cake."
I chuckled at Hobi's comment. "Honestly. There is no need to thank me, I was just doing my job." Hobi smiled. "Of course, but I always think a thank you should be in order."
"You are too kind" I replied as I looked down to Taehyung.
His eyes were softly shut with breathing tubes up his nasal passage. Bandages were wrapped around his arm and wrists, his skin slightly pale.
"Do you know when he will wake up?" "It's hard to tell, when he went into a vegetative state I grew worried." "What's that?" Hobi enquired. "It's when a patient is awake but is showing no signs of awareness. A continuing state lasts around four weeks which in Taehyung's situation it will be no longer. He should be awake within the remaining three weeks."
Hobi sighed in relief. "That's good to hear, the rest of the band members have been worried for him, but in this current time it can only be one of us visiting every hour. Unless it's doctors, nurses and people like yourself checking him."
I nodded in agreement. "Yes, this time isn't the best but it's also the best."
Knock Knock
As the door opened a doctor came into the room. "Ah hello y/n" he greeted. "Hi doctor." I replied as I turned my attention back to Taehyung. "How is he doing?" "Seems to be ok, nothing major" I replied.
Looking at Hobi the doctor smiled softly. "Unfortunately your visiting hour has come to an end, the other will arrive in fifteen minutes."
Standing to his feet Hobi gently patted Taehyung's shoulder. "Take care" he whispered. "Thank you once again y/n." Exiting the room the doctor grinned at me. "What?" I asked. "Seems like you've gravitated yourself to this patient."
"What makes you say what?" He laughed. "I've seen many incidents throughout my years of working here, and many love relationships. How you are holding is hand is one main factor."
Looking down I saw how my hand was intertwined with his. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." He grinned as he left the room.
Inspecting Taehyung I couldn't help but let out a small smile.

Closing the door behind me I sighed in content. As I placed my bags over my shoulders my phone began to ring in my pocket.
Retrieving it I saw it was Emily calling, immediately pressing the answer button I held it to my ear. Before I could greet her she sounded scared and out of breath.
"Y/n you need to come down to A&E urgently." My chest grew heavy. "What's happened?" I asked as I ran toward the elevators. "I will tell you once you arrive." Cutting off the line I began to grow impatient.
Heading for the stairway I ran down the flights of stairs.
Pushing the doors open wide I headed for Emily, who was standing with her husband James, her head in her hands as she cried.
"Emily" I shouted. "Y/n" she replied as she ran into my arms. "What's going on?" I asked as I noticed many doctors and nurses rushing around into a patients room.
"It's Parker" she hiccupped. "What happened to him?" My chest grew heavy, looking over to James he sent me an apologetic smile. "What happened?" I asked sternly.
"He was hit by a car."
My heart sank, "What?" I asked with a whisper. "He isn't responding" Yunho called as he approached us, his expression fading the moment we made eye contact.
Holding my hand over my mouth tears began to fall from my eyes.
"Call his wife" a nurse shouted as she came out of his room. "I'm his wife" I replied as I pushed past Emily and Yunho.
Her eyes showed it all, they were full of hurt and loss.
"I'm so sorry, we couldn't do anything further."
The moment those words escaped her lips my legs gave way from underneath me. Collapsing to the ground I cried my heart out, screaming my husbands name.
"Hey, hey, it's ok" Yunho calmed as he pulled me into his embrace. Rocking us back and forth I cried onto his shoulder.
Crouching down Emily wrapped her hands around our bodies. Crying also we sat in the middle of the hallway as doctors left the room.
"We will give you all the time she needs" one of the doctors said to Yunho.
Thanking him Yunho cupped my cheeks. "You should go and see him."
"I-I c-can't" I cried. "I want him back, I want my husband back."
"Come on" Picking up my weak body Yunho guided us onto my husbands room. "Let's go and say our final goodbyes."
Few months later
Holding onto the handle my breathing froze.
The last time I was here I said my goodbyes to my late husband.
Looking up to the grey sky I took a deep breath before pushing the doors open.
Crossing my arms over my body I made my way through the crowd in head for the paramedics staffroom.
Placing my bag down onto the table I noticed a small bouquet of flowers, "Glad to see you back." Emily, Yunho and Dan spoke as they came toward me.
"Thank you guys" I thanked as I hugged them tightly.
"I know you are only taking baby steps but someone is asking for you." Yunho spoke as Emily and Dan headed for the vending machines. "Who may that be?" I asked.
"Well do you remember the guy that was in the car crash a few months back?" "Taehyung?" I asked. He nodded, "Yes, he's finally awake and he wants to meet his unknown saviour."
