His Majesty
"You must kill him, no questions asked!"
Handing you a small black bottle you inspected it dryly. A small red string was tied around the lid making it seem more deadly then the usual poisons.
"Once you get settled in all you have to do it put this poison into his Majesty's tea."
Looking up you nodded to your request.
"I expect this to go smoothly y/n you are one of my best assassins on the team."
Silently licking your lips you opened your mouth to speak, "will I have anyone to help me?" The man shook his head, "this will be a silent and lone job. None of the team know this is happening let alone know I have chosen you."
"Why me?" you suddenly asked making him stand to his feet and slowly approach you, "your skills are one of the very best, therefore I see great potential in you and that you will complete this without fail."
Placing his hand onto your shoulder you looked into his eyes. "Do you accept this?" he asked as he pushed the bottle of poison closer to your body.
"I do!"
The male smiled brightly, which was a rare sight to see.
"Good, now you will set off in the early hours of the morning." "What if the team ask about me?" you enquired knowing one of your closest friends would surely wonder why you've suddenly vanished without letting her know.
"I have it all under control, all you need to worry about is keeping that bottle safe." Gulping harshly you tightened your grip.
"The next time I see you will be once you have completed the mission, good luck y/n." The male spoke as he turned away and sat back down on his throne.
His Majesty, King Namjoon of Seoul
He envied the one and only air, King Taehyung the ruler of Daegu.
King Namjoon and King Taehyung used to be very close, once upon a time. But that was suddenly changed many years ago when their both of their fathers were killed at war.
For the many after King Namjoon was most certain that King Taehyung's father had killed his father.
The envy formed begun from then on. Once they were both crowned Kings of Seoul and Daegu they have been in search for one another ever since.
That was then when you came in only just a few years ago. You joined as a normal servant until one day you were face to face with a sword, another servant had told a lie in that you were trying to steal the King's gold, but that was false.
The moment the sword was swung into the air you dodged it with ease. Taking out the opponent you were able to snatch their sword out of their hands, causing them to yield in a moment.
As the King stood to his feet his eyes showing satisfaction, he knew he wanted to keep you close by.
You had the potential many others did not have.
Since that day you were trained 24/7 and brought into His Majesty's secret team, his assassination team.
You gained strength, certainty and most importantly you gained the king's trust. Good enough trust that he chose you to pull off his murderous mission.
"That is all y/n you may leave" The King spoke as he asked one of his bodyguards to take you away.
The Following Day
Feeling a cold hand upon your shoulder made you wake up in an instant, immediately grabbing your knife you held it against the unknown persons neck.
The moment you made eye contact the knife slipped out of your grip, it was Master Jin the man who trained you since your first day.
"Sorry Master Jin" you apologised with a whisper. "It's quite alright kiddo, now come on let's going." Taking your hand he guided you out of your room.
Once you came to the end of the hallway Master Jin brought you into your changing room. "Suit up" he boldly demanded as he pointed over to a black suit carrier which hung onto a hanger.
Once he left the room you got dressed into a red outfit along with black knee high boots.
Tying up your hair you gazed at your reflection in the mirror, "you definitely look the part" Master Jin commented as he entered the room.
Standing beside you he looked proudly at the woman you had become. "Now let's saddle up."
•
Placing your foot into the saddle's stirrups you hoisted your body up and onto your horse.
"Your going to need these" Master Jin called as he handed over your bow and arrows. "Thanks Master" you grinned.
"I shall see you when you return" he smiled as he stepped away, letting you and your horse gallop away.
•
Once you arrived in Daegu you steadied your horse down, letting him cool off.
"Good boy" you praised as you jumped down to the ground. Giving him a gentle pat you headed further into the Kingdom.
As yourself and your horse wondered through the streets you smiled contently, you were easily blending into the crowd.
With a sudden grunt yourself and another person fell backward, looking across you were met with one of the most striking males you had ever seen. His eyes were bold along with his hair, "I'm so sorry young lady" he bowed.
"I should be the one to apologise" you added, "I wasn't watching where I was going." The male chuckled "you and me both." you smiled. "Well my apologies again." Pulling on your horses reins you carried on with your quest.
As you approached the walls of the castle a sword was suddenly pointed at you.
"What business do you have here in Daegu?" the guard asked strongly. Pulling out a small white piece of paper you handed it to him.
Once he read it he beckoned the guards to open up the castles doors. "My men will take your horse, in the meantime please follow me."
Hearing the doors close behind a strange feeling grew inside you, almost like someone was watching you.
Following one of the guards you entered the castle.
"Wait here" he demanded before entering a room with two large doors ahead.
Placing your hand into your bag you checked to see that the bottle was still in its place, to which it was.
"He's ready for you."
As you headed inside you approached the king, his broad back facing you. Coughing softly you caught his attention.
The moment he turned your froze, your eyes widening in shock.
•
"I'm so sorry young lady" he bowed.
"I should be the one to apologise" you added, "I wasn't watching where I was going." The male chuckled "you and me both." you smiled. "Well my apologies again."
•
The male from earlier on, he was the King?
How was that possible?
How did he return so fast?
"We should really stop meeting one another like this" he chuckled as took a seat in his throne.
"I say" he spoke as he tilted his head. "Those bow and arrows, they seem very clean and sharp. May I ask where you got those from?"
Scanning the room you had to come up with a quick reply, "oh... they we're a gift from my grandparents I wouldn't know where they were from your majesty" you answered.
"Well please do find out, I shall need to get my hands on my very own. But anyway I see you have come to be apart one of my forces." You nodded in agreement, "I have your majesty" you stated highly.
"And is that also your horse in one of my stables too. Was he also a present from the family?" you shook your head. "N-no when I was younger I found out that he was a lost horse so I took him in and trained him."
These lies were growing their own path.
The King hummed to himself, "Guards" he shouted causing you to blink fast. "Take this young girl to her room, she will need plenty of rest before training tomorrow morning."
The guard bowed at his King, "of course your majesty." Taking hold of your arm he guided you out of the room, you however still struck by his looks you gazed at him until you could no more.
1 month later
Lying in your room you held the bottle of poison in your hands. Closing your eyes you began to think on how you were going to execute this mission.
You had been here for a month now and ever since you have failed every time to pour the liquid into the king's drink.
You even grew concerned as you never fail in any mission, but with this mission something was stopping you from going ahead with it.
It was like your body was forcing you to stop any harm.
Upon hearing a knock at your door you frantically scrambled around to hide the bottle.
Tucking it under your outfit you straightened yourself out before opening the door.
"Your majesty" you bowed the moment you saw him.
"Everything ok? You seemed very quiet at dinner." You laughed nervously "I'm fine your majesty I just wasn't feeling too good."
"Well" he smiled, "how about me and you go for a ride, I'm sure your horse would love a good outing."
Looking into his eyes you knew this was a genuine request. "Of course"
Following him out you both saddled up your horses and began your walks.
Few hours later
"So. Tell me about you." The King smiled as you both sat by a nearby pond, your horses both eating a shed of grass close behind.
"W-well" you paused for a moment. "My parents died when I was young so I was taken into an orphanage where I grew up and I learned how to train. From then on I became my own person."
"Was it hard loosing your parents?" The king abruptly asked causing you to look to him.
Gazing up to the sky you felt your eyes slowly water, "y-yes I was there when they were killed... I know I was only young but I knew just by looking at them that they wouldn't survive."
Feeling a lose strand of hair being tucked behind your ear the King sat close to you. "I see that your a strong girl. Having you here the past month has made me feel something I've never felt before. I really wish to know more about you but I shall wait until your fully ready to tell me. Being a king is hard even so without having someone beside me."
You laughed a little, "I'm sure many women are desperate for you to chose them to be your wife."
"Well that's the thing" he stated, "I think I've already found her." Cupping your cheek he looked into your eyes, "and she's sitting right in front of me."
Your chest grew heavy, "b-but I've only been here a month your majesty, I'm not worthy to be apart of your life let alone become your wife."
Removing his hand you stood to your feet, the king quickly following your actions. "But I can wait until your ready" he admits.
Shaking your head bent down collecting your bow and arrows. "I'm sorry your majesty but I don't want you wasting your time on someone like me."
As you turned to walk away he shouted after you.
"Wait!" he demanded. "How are you able to push me away so easily?" Wiping your eyes you turned to him, "b-because I don't feel the same way" you lied as you sat up onto your horse.
Looking at him sadly you nudged your horse indicating him to walk on.
You could no longer go ahead with this mission. In a short amount of time you were falling for the king of Daegu. If King Namjoon found out you would be thrown out the force or even be killed.
•
Upon reaching an abandoned lake you set down from your horse. Holding onto his bridal you rested your head onto his.
"Do you think it's the right thing to do?" you asked him softly. Feeling a slight nudge from him you laughed a little, "love is love, nothing can brake it."
Retrieving the bottle of poison you held it close. "Even if that means breaking the rules and risking my life. I'll do what I must do."
Placing the bottle back into your bag yourself and your horse set off, riding back all the way to Seoul.
