School is back on and as painful as ever.

Kakashi doesn't know what's happening. His heart starts racing everytime Obito is around. And wrestling practice has become a terrible nightmare. He surely doesn't remember practice being this... difficult.

Obito is everywhere! How'd he get so fast?

Kakashi turns his head in time to catch a glimpse of Obito as he rolls out of the way. He tumbles forward, narrowly missing Obito catching him from behind. He twists around, and lunges forward, reaching out to grab Obito around the collar to push him off balance. But as he's leaning in close, he notices Obito's face.

Face flushed and hair tousled up, Obito is panting in even breathing patterns and watching him as he gets close. There's sweat falling from his brow and around his neck and he has a glimmer in his eyes and a tiny excited curl at the edge of his lips. Kakashi's eyes grow wide and he hesitates. Seeing Obito like that stuns him and his breath gets caught in his lungs.

Obito immediately seizes the opportunity and grabs him around the shoulders. He leans in and his face gets really close to Kakashi's. Eyes wide, Kakashi panics and he can't move. He stares back and his heart makes a jump.

Seeing Kakashi's reaction, Obito flashes him a sly grin. Then while holding on to him around the shoulders, he twists his body around and dunks Kakashi on the floor, slamming him down hard.

"Woahhh!!" says everyone.

Obito jumps up on his feet and then flings his arms up in absolute joy. "Ohhh shiiiitttt!! How the mighty hath fallen!!!" he exclaims, his loud voice echoing off the walls of the gym.

Everyone else in the wrestling team stare at them in utter shock. Omg! Hell has frozen over. Kakashi the mighty athletic god has fallen.

Obito stiffens for a moment, realization hitting him. Wait, did he just win?? He looks down at Kakashi on the floor. He's all tousled and breathing unevenly and his face is red.

Concern now on his face, Obito hovers over. "Yo Kakashi, are you ok? Are you sick?" Obito comes over to check on him. He gets unbearably close.

Kakashi gets up quickly and backs away. "No, no. I-I'm fine," he stutters.

"Wow," says Yamato, "Looks like he doesn't know how to accept he just got 'pinned'." He laughs, then looks around at everyone. "No one? Alright..." he says frowning, disappointed no one got his joke.

O god, Kakashi thinks to himself. I can't let this get to me. He walks back to the lockers in shame, but more so to get away from Obito.

....

In the locker room, Kakashi busies himself, trying to avoid looking at Obito. Luckily, Obito's locker is a bit far from his. It's a few down the row and opposite from his row.

Kakashi slowly glances in his direction.

Obito's back is turned toward him and he's chatting happily with another team member. Then he starts taking off his shirt. Kakashi pulls his eyes away.

Nope. Definitely should not stare, Kakashi thinks to himself, sweating lightly from his forehead.

Slowly, and without his control, Kakashi's eyes drift back toward Obito's direction. His eyes grow wide in horror and he looks away quickly.

Omg...!! Obito has... back dimples!? Oh no! Why did I look!? Kakashi's brain is on fire. The voice in his head keeps screaming. Oh noooo! NONONONOOO! The image of Obito's cute back dimples are now burned into his memory. This will definitely haunt him when he's home... at night... and in bed... trying to fall asleep?

Yamato, noticing Kakashi's strange behavior, looks over at Kakashi, and then at Obito, then back at Kakashi. Amusement grows on his face with a knowing grin. What an interesting new development. The show is back on, except now the genre has changed.

Kakashi feels his hand go up past his mask to cover his eyes. Madara's words start echoing in his head...

You may be wearing a mask, but I can see it in your eyes. It's not too obvious.. yet...

Dammit. Can people see it in his eyes? Omg. Hopefully Obito doesn't notice.

"Oi Kashi." Obito is heading toward him, stretching his neck. O GOD!

"Hey I'm super hungry. Let's go get some grub," says Obito.

"Oh Obito!" Kakashi says, eyes frantic and trying not to look at him. "Actually, I have something I gotta do. Like...right now!" He starts scooting away.

"Ok. I'll follow you. What are you going to do?"

Kakashi panics. "Oh... it's work related! Really boring and will take a while. I don't want to keep you... er. I mean... keep you from.. getting hungry! See ya!" he says, voice strained. Kakashi quickly turns away and runs off as dignified as he can.

Eyes blinking, Obito is stuck staring at the empty space previously occupied in front of him.

....

During a Student Council meeting, Rin notices a change in Kakashi. He is a lot less cold and aloof. And it doesn't seem like he's focused on the campaign anymore. If anything, it seems like he's just not trying at all. Or maybe something else is distracting him.

After the meeting, she pulls him aside to talk. "You seem a lot happier. And you're getting along with Obito finally, huh?"

"Yeah, I guess he's not that annoying anymore," says Kakashi. He's looking away from her face.

Is he avoiding eye contact? Rin wonders. "I see..."

Kakashi then looks at her getting suspicious. "What?"

"Oh nothing," Rin says, looking away acting nonchalant. "I might just be seeing things, but It just looks like you light up whenever Obito is around." She keeps facing forward, but still watches him from the corner of her eye.

"Hmm...," says Kakashi, thinking to himself.

Rin studies him more closely. "You steal glances at him when he's not looking. Or even if his name gets mentioned you perk up."

Rin watches as Kakashi's eyes grow wide. Then he swiftly turns his face away avoiding her gaze.

"I...I don't like what you are implying, Rin," he says, voice wavering.

Woah interesting reaction! Hehe this is getting exciting! Rin thinks to herself. She can't resist teasing. "Omg look at you! You're blushing!"

"Shut up. I'm not!"

Holy shit. She never thought she would see the day when Kakashi gets all flustered. She laughs giddily. "Omg, I can't believe this. This is amazing! You like Obito!?," she says a little too loud.

Some freshman walking by slow their pace and look over at them curiously.

"Omg. Shut up, Rin! Jeesus," he yells, looking around wildly. Suddenly aware of how crazy he looks, he calmly smooths his hair and regains his composure, acting like nothing weird happened at all.

Rin is smiling wide now. "You should tell him."

"Absolutely not."

"What!? Why? I can tell him."

"Hell no," he snaps. "Just pleaseee don't say anything. To anyone. Especially Obito."

Rin looks at him confused. "Alright... I won't. But are you planning on telling him?"

She watches Kakashi as his shoulders droop slightly. It was almost unnoticeable.

"No... I can't. He's my friend." he says, looking down at the floor.

Rin looks at him, concern growing on her face.

Still looking down, he continues. "He.. he just won't think of me that way. Besides he's straight. If I tell him, he will freak out and stay away from me. Or he'll never treat me the same way ever again."

Rin looks at him sadly. "I don't think he will treat you differently," she says trying to be reassuring. Although deep down she can't be certain.

"But... you know he won't ever return my feelings," says Kakashi, rubbing the back of his neck, loosening some tension.

Rin thinks about it. It's strange seeing Kakashi like this. It makes her feel miserable. If only she can help her friend. "Kakashi, I really think..."

He interrupts her. "It's ok. I'm fine. Really... I am. It's just a crush. It will go away."

Kakashi closes his eyes and keeps rubbing his neck. He lets out a tired sigh and Rin watches him, quietly wondering, Hmm. I wonder how Obito feels.

....

Now in Obito's team meeting, Rin keeps thinking about what Kakashi said. So... Kakashi likes Obito.

It's kind of unreal. But at the same time, the revelation of it doesn't surprise her. Kakashi has been changing the past few weeks. Considering how he used to be at the beginning of the year, the change is staggering. And she knows it's all because of Obito.

Obito walks to the front of the room to begin the meeting. She watches him and starts thinking to herself, if I can only find out how Obito feels.

Obito starts the meeting as he usually does. "Alright, first order of business. Zetsu, what do you have to report?"

Zetsu looks at them with a twinkle in his eye and says, "Rumor has it... Kakashi likes someone."

Everyone stops. The dramatic silence stretches and Rin watches Obito for his reaction.

Obito stops what he's doing and looks up. "What?"

"Yeah. There's rumors going around saying he likes someone. Not sure who. And his demeanor is definitely changed. And he's stopped reading smut in the bookstore," Zetsu says with a smile.

"Omg!" Yahiko starts snickering. Shisui closes his eyes and shakes his head slowly, although his expression is amused.

"Oook...," says Obito, still feeling stunned at the information. "That doesn't really mean he likes someone. Maybe he got bored of them."

"Haha really? Get bored of smut?" Konan says. "Who can get bored of that?" Shisui and Zetsu nod.

"Yeah, it's either he likes someone or he's distracted by something. Not work though. The guy doesnt work hard if he doesn't need to," says Zetsu.

The others continue to debate. Who could it be? Someone on student council? Does she go to another school?

Obito's thoughts start to wonder. Kakashi likes someone? He would've told me, right? Why didn't he tell me?

Rin continues observing Obito. Oh interesting, she thinks to herself. Having known him for a long time, Obito is definitely acting strange. He looks unsure. Not a look that's on him very often.

She looks at the other team members, who are still debating on who Kakashi's crush is. Oh man, this is killing her. She knows who Kakashi likes! She feels so conflicted, but she's sworn to secrecy. Even so, she doesn't want Kakashi to get hurt if Obito doesn't like him back. It's all so frustrating.

But if she's able to confirm Obito's feelings, maybe she can help them both? But how?

Keeping her voice as level as she can, she says, "Obito, you're being pretty quiet. What should we do with this information?"

Obito snaps to attention. "Hm?"

Everyone in the room is watching him. He jumps a little, being caught off guard. Then, regaining his composure, he looks at Zetsu. "Hey Zetsu, where did you hear this?

"It's a rumor going around," says Zetsu. "I can find the source. See if anyone knows who the mystery girl is."

"Or guy," says Itachi.

Rin looks over at Itachi. Woah... that one is astute. Does he know? Well he's on student council too. And he was at the Christmas party. Maybe he's noticed the way Kakashi acts around Obito?

"What??," Obito squawks. His voice comes out hoarse and squeaky. "No way. Kakashi reads smut. The girl and guy kind. He's not gay."

"Dunno," says Konan. "He doesn't seem to care about all his fangirls... "

"Woah. You got a point," says Yahiko, nodding his head.

Obito is stunned. He thinks to himself, What? Kakashi, gay? No way. That's weird. ....All those times I hung out with him though...

Nagato speaks up, "Alright guys. It's probably not our business. And it might not even be true."

"Except he's the enemy. Right, Boss?" says Zetsu.

Obito furrows his brows, unsure what to do with the information. "Erm... Nagato is right. It might not even be true. Let's confirm this information before anything else. Other than that, everything seems to be going smoothly. Great job everyone! Dismissed."

Everyone starts packing up their stuff ready to leave. As they walk out the door, they continue discussing who Kakashi's special someone is. Once everyone is gone, Obito continues looking at his notes and then he looks up and sees Rin still there. "Hey Rin. Did you want to get food or something?"

"Uh yea...," Rin says. She pouts, wondering how to bring up the question. "Hey, I wonder if that rumor is true. Pretty crazy, right? Kakashi liking someone?"

Obito face contorts in disbelief. "Yeah it's kind of weird, right? I just never thought he would be interested in anyone. I mean he's always had girls after him, but he never paid them attention." Unless..., Obito thinks to himself, is he gay?

Rin watches him. "And he's never told you anything?"

"No," says Obito, shaking his head. "I thought we were getting pretty close. Honestly, I feel a little insulted. Why didn't he tell me? You know... It's gotta be fake. He would've told me I think."

Rin nods her head, but then says, "And if he does like someone?"

Obito quietly mulls over the question, eyebrows knitting together. Then he says, "Well then, good for him, I guess."

.....

Walking out onto one of the many grassy pathways of the school, Obito keeps thinking about the new intel Zetsu shared with the team. Kakashi likes someone? It can't be true. Just some more dumb Freshman gossip. It's not even worth thinking about.

Obito shakes his head. Why can't he stop thinking about it then?

As he's walking down the path to where his bike is locked, he spots Kakashi walking alone toward the parking lot. A part of him still feels very curious. Maybe he should just ask directly to confirm the rumors. Right?

Without thinking, he's already running toward Kakashi. "Hey, Kashi. Wait up!"

Kakashi stops in his tracks. He slowly turns around and sees Obito, then he looks away quickly trying to act casual. "Oh.. Hi, Obito. Whats up?..," he says, voice cracking.

"Uh hey." Obito looks up at Kakashi, then looks down at the floor, his brows knitting together. "It's probably none of my business...," Obito says, suddenly feeling unsure.

Kakashi looks at him curious.

"Uh...," says Obito. Suddenly annoyed with himself, a voice in his head speaks, Damn. Just ask him.

"So I heard some rumors."

Kakashi arches an eyebrow, looking confused. "What rumors?"

Obito focuses on his face. "They say you have a crush on someone."

Kakashi's eyes grow a tiny bit larger, then he looks away quickly, forcing out a laugh. "I don't...I don't like anyone. C'mon, Obito. Those rumors are fake."

"Oh hahaha," Obito laughs, sudden relief washing over him. "I thought so. Because surely you would've told me, right? If you liked someone."

Kakashi keeps looking away. "Uh.. Of course, Obito." His voice wavers, so he forces out another laugh to ease his nervousness.

Seeing him laugh, Obito starts laughing along. They continue laughing for a few seconds.

Of course it's just a rumor. Duh, Obito tells himself.

Now feeling giddy for some reason, Obito remembers something. "Uh hey, Kashi. Its almost my birthday... Feb 10th remember?" He smiles giving Kakashi an expectant look.

Kakashi felt a smile of his own grow behind his mask. "Of course, I do."

A wide grin forms on Obito's face. "We're having a lil get together at the Ichiraku Ramen Restaurant nearby. Just friends. You should come," he says.

Seeing how happy Obito is inviting him to his party made Kakashi feel like jello inside. He gazes at Obito and that lovely smile of his, and without his control, he says, "Obi, I'll do my best."

Then Obito smiles really wide, blinding him again like it did when they hung out at his house.

And so Kakashi's heart wouldn't stop racing the rest of the day.

Haha Poor Kakashi. Now his emotions are all out of whack. And now he doesn't know what to do about his feelings. Especially for our sweet, snarky, yet oblivious Obito.
