Yousaf's POV: year :3145

I couldn't believe that they were actually attacked,  it was totally against the law. And who knows what else would have happened to Ibrahim had we not reached there in time.
Thank God I captured their coordinates on a chip before they erased their traces completely. Adam and I both got off our hoverboards in front of the inspection office.
I barged in furiously when Adam grasped my hand ,

"hey ! Listen man! Calm down, ok? It wasn't your fault. It's....it's probably my fault , I shouldn't have left him alone like that. And you wouldn't have been caught if I had properly checked the sound proofing gear too.Haneea heard us because of me and then Ibrahim..... "

I stopped and took a deep breath,
" No! It's not your fault, rather I'm sorry, I have been putting a lot on you. Anyways, If anything it was the patrols and inspection team's fault for being this careless even when I told them that someone was trying to bring changes into the past."
Adam looked surprised Ofcourse,
"Wait!...so you had already registered a complaint then ? " 
I simply nodded in response .

"When, yousaf?" ,he asked.

I hesitated a bit then answered,
"When I found out that the man who had gotten into hania's house was sent by someone from present."

"You did tell me that they were in trouble , but why didn't you tell me that the matter was THIS serious?" . I turned around to face the reception and registered my name on the pad in front and then replied looking back at him,
"I...I guess I wasn't sure about it."
I then checked and saw that our turn was two meetings away and the chief had texted us to bring the evidence we told h8m about with us . Adam kept thinking as if trying to find the reason someone would attack those two .
Adam then looked at me ,"But how do you know that the gangster caught was working for someone  from OUR present ? I mean, you might have been mistaken." As we both sat at the waiting area's floating bags,
I replied," No, I'm sure beacuse he came inside the house through the loop which wasn't invented in that timeline and secondly he was using the invisibility as well".
Adam looked confused ," But from what I remember everyone in hania's house could see him."
I looked at him for a moment in a gesture of ' exactly' and it hit him "oh... I get it now , so YOU disabled his invisibility mode... no wonder why the gangster was being careless."
I smiled a bit ," yes, I also woke up Hania as I could not interfere directly . "
Our numbers popped up on the screen and I turned to Adam,"Come on, that's us."
I was about to get up from the seat when Adam caught my hand ,"But I still don't understand something , we were only supposed to go and observe the timeline and make sure that the records written by our seniors were correct. So then....what were you doing there that night? It couldn't have been a coincidence....why were you spying on one specific person? Is there something I don't know? "

I'm so sorry Adam,  it's something I can't tell you . It's too dangerous. The more people know about it, the more risky. So I lied to him," Nah! There's nothing like that. I wasn't observing her. Rather , I had detected the present equipment's coordinates in that place . Since it was far away from the patrol ,it seemed fishy. So I had to check it out. "
Adam looked a bit shocked for some reason and let go of my hand , "ok let's go then" he said.
I felt so bad but I had no choice. I couldn't tell him the truth. I can't tell him that they were both my ancestors! 😳

Adam waved his hand in front of my eyes ,"hey! You there?" I was brought back to my senses when I realized that I still hadn't taken off my ear plugs and turned off my screens as they were not allowed further ahead.
I slowly took everything off and handed it over to the reception and so did Adam. As I was about to walk forward a man stopped me. He looked like a security officer but not the usual one." I'm sorry but you can't take that in there " .
I looked in the direction he was pointing , it was towards my pocket . I took out the the small chip from my pocket ," Are you talking about this officer? " I asked showing the chip to him. He said 'yes' as he tried reaching out for it. I instantly pulled my hand back ,"I think there is a misunderstading. There is no restrictions on taking a coordinate saving chip inside" . Adam backed me up too ,"Exactly! And this is the only reason we were here in the first place . Chief told us to bring evidence with us. And this is it. "
The man looked a bit annoyed ,"I'm sorry, but there's no proof that you have the permission from the chief . Chiefs not back from conference anyway. So, why don't you two leave this here with me,  go in there and bring back his solid proof permit with you? "

Adam replied ,"ok , fine. But you are just wasting everyone's time in here."
I didn't feel safe for some reason . I didn't even make a copy of it as copies are known to be fake. I wanted to take it with me. So I said ,"Wait sir,  look at my contact info on my digital screen . There is text send by him telling to bring the proof wi....."
.. SMASH! I was punched hard out of nowhere and my grip weakened. The chip was snatched from my hand and I fell hard on Adam who was standing a bit behind me. I wiped my nose bleed with my hand and we both got up immediately as two other officers ran in that man's direction but he instantly transported . I felt so frustrated and punched the wall at my right. Adam held me by my shoulders and tried to calm me down, but I couldn't hear a word he said. The bunch of officers were also gathered behind us and were trying to find the place he transported to , but I knew it was no use. Even if the police does get there he would have gotten somewhere else. I couldn't even imagine who could it be , it definitely wasn't someone common as he had a transportation device which is rare and expensive , just who was it ? And why were they after the coordinates? What and who is trying to stay hidden? Who wants to change the past and eventually the present?! Just who could it be? . I didn't even realise when had the chief gotten right beside me. He shook me ,"Yousaf! There is no time to wonder , come! both of you into my office. "

We both sat down on the chairs as chief finished talking with another officer about tracking down that man. My nose bleeding had stopped and so had the pain due to the instant pain reliever.
As chief was done talking with him he too came to sit down in front of us.
" look, Yousaf and Adam! This case is getting weirder and dangerous. You both will have to back off from this project for now. "
I was boiling with anger at these words.
Adam asked , "And what about the man, did you atleast get him? ".
Chief took off his hat "I'm sorry,  we are trying our best. I promise we will find him and.. " I cut him off and smacked on the table ,
"don't promise something you can't do. You can't catch him anymore! And you know it too! You don't even have the tech to find his location and the owner of the machine. Probably the national forces can do something about it, but you? You can't, ok? So, don't give us false hope and do your job probably, how could someone have infiltrated the police this easily without getting caught. "

He sighed," you are right yousaf, but it's not your fight or job. It's ours. So please just let us investigate and stay away from it for a whi... "

I interrupted him again," oh really? You are trying your best at your job, you say? Then why didn't you listen when I already told you about someone trying to change the past months ago? Oh wait.... " I stood up like a shock got me and then turned to chief,"YOU!.... That fake officer works for you, doesn't he? You are the one behind it aren't you?... Thats why you didn't help when I already told you about the pirated trying to infiltrate the time line . Oh my God! I... I cant believe it "

I was so shook by even thinking about it, but there could be no better explanation, we only told him about the chip and then it's stolen before getting submitted.

Chief finally rose his voice too,
"You think I did it, huh Yousaf? Do you have any idea how much trouble I'm in just for meeting you? Originally, I should be in the western unit right now, but I got my secretary to use disguising 3D operator to make it seem like I'm there. I have constantly been sent anonymous messages to stop helping you, supporting you and meeting you. I could lose my job but I'm sitting here listening to you blaming me while I'll trying to save you, to help you. Don't forget this, I'm a friend of your late parents. They were my saviours. I want to return the favor. But you are making things more difficult. "

Adam popped up the live conference held in the western unit and there really was chief's secretary dressed like chief. So, it.... Wasn't him then. Even if he was, the connections do not meet up anywhere to haneea and Ibrahim. But still I needed to be careful, he could be working for the culprit . Adam said in a low voice
"bro. You owe someone an apology " I looked away from him.
Meanwhile chief sat down on this seat and started spraying the instant healer on his scratched arm. Wait, I didn't see that before. "What happened to your arm? " I asked. He just looked at me blankly for 2 seconds then went back on pulling up sleeves and applying pain relievers. Adam pointed at his leg, "Doesn't this hurt more than the arm?" but chief didn't even flinch. I moved a bit forward as the table was blocking the view. The upper thigh has a large piece of glass pierced in. It must be hurting so bad. I didn't even notice this before.

I felt so bad" I... Um.... I'm... S.. Sorry. I shouldn't have said all that without being sure."

He laughed, "so you do still think that I'm the culprit, but you are just not sure? "

I smiled " well... Dont you tell me to trust noone while trying to find the culprit."

Chief ran his hand through my hair, messing it all up
"yes. And I expect you to keep doing that "
Adam fake coughed to get attention, "I don't mean to spoil this um...Beautiful moment. But that piece isn't getting out on its own.Should we call help?"

I replied, "no. Chief is visible as chief to only us. To others he is chief's secretary due to 3D operator . But its effects are wearing off. They might find out the truth this way . "

Adam replied, "you're right ", chief said, "aren't you two my cute little junior detectives? Want a promotion? "

I remembered something, "Adam don't you have one operator too? I saw you buy one. "

Adam laughed, "you remembered? Oh lord.... Its of no use. Its broken. "

chief right then pulled out the piece of glass with a cloth and started its heaping, saying "don't worry kids. I can handle this. Just keep an eye on cameras for me. Noone should come here. I have disabled the 3D operator. "

Adam saluted with a smile, "aye aye captain. " I got a bit serious, "but seriously captain... I mean chief. What happened? How did you get these injuries? "

Chief looked up thinking if he should tell or not, "I was hit by a flying automatic car on my way here " It was definitely suspicious, someone was trying to stop him from coming here.

"did you tell someone that you were coming here? " he thought for a moment. "noone but you mr junior detective. ".

Adam said sitting down :"That's so sus. By the way captain. Do you trust your secretary?" chief smiled camly, "Ofcourse I do. He's my only son " Adam instantly smirked "Adopted ".chief looked a bit hardly at Adam and was about to say something when a live mini portal opened up. It was the secretary "I have some bad news sir. ".
"what is it? "asked the chief.
" Yousaf and Adam... Their time traveling licenses have been confiscated for a few months due to security reasons." We were absolutely flabbergasted and we both yelled at the same time "WHAT?! "
