Mainly, because unlike other contractual soldiers, Demi collected her pay directly, as she didn't have a company to take most of her profits; allowing her to have enough money to be able to take care of her family. Getting up in her years, 141 reached out to her, as her skills, and experience had been proven to be of great use to them. Bummed at the fact that she was on the brink of retirement, she planned to help win one more war, before calling it quits.
