Busy; Whether or Not I Wanted to Be: a Memoire of a Poor Girl
The title says all, and if you're interested, I thank you. This project has been hard for me to commit to, because of it's personal content and it's not often I like to expound upon myself to any length. the Memoire is my thoughts, an episode of my life at a time, and the mental narrative that I had during the time, or later, reliving the memories, and other connected memories to the central episode. This is the journey of a girl/woman so annoyed by the blatant exploitation of a story by the publishing house of HarperCollins, wherein fury at such aforementioned exploitation of a highly regarded author equals an informal, a subtitle, if you will, namely Go Set (fire to ) a Watchman, in which the annoyed, girl/woman, (really, where is the cutoff for womanhood and girlhood, serious question ), flays apart HarperCollins and it's affiliated employees and sellers who 'magicked' up a 'sequel' for To Kill a Mockingbird. Just to clarify, here's my disclaimer of sorts. I adore Harper Lee. I worship at the pinnacle of her writing, and aspire to achieve such results for the book that currently sullies her brilliance, her story, her life, and her memory. I hold no such regard for HarperCollins. In fact, I have to say I share the same opinion of snake's belly, just after its escaped a pigpen, as I do HarperCollins. For what HarperCollins has done to the reputation and integrity of an incredible, beautiful classic and it's author is the indeed the lowest one can imagine possible. Everyone who's read or watched Twilight has wondered why the heck Stephanie Meyer hadn't written more on the Cullen coven, because there was so much more to them, scattered through the centuries from 1650 to 2000, and there was just so much fascinating tidbits of their times scattered through the books that I decided to write something, starting at the beginning of the Cullens. Carlisle. And so this brings me to the contest that I joined a few weeks ago. The contest rules I skipped over, and was forcibly reminded of them when my submission came back as invalid. I didn't know a lot of people liked Carlisle and Bella, or Carlisle and Bella and Edward, or Carlisle and Edward.So what's published here is what I wrote, before I changed the names and nationalities to fit the guidelines. All of the original Twilight characters belong to Stephanie Meyer, but the story and new characters are mine. Depending on the reaction to Alaw Llewellyn and her Carlisle, I may attempt Jasper, Alice, Edward, Esme, Rosalie, and Emmett, in their before Twilight lives. Galla Placidia is one of the most fascinating women in Late Antiquity, and her life had so much impact on that period of Roman history that she was Sainted by the Church at the time of her death. She was born into not just one, but two ruling dynasties of Rome, and was married, once, to a king, and then to the most implacable enemy of her husband. She was unarguably the most powerful woman in the Empire, but her uncanny ability to manouver and dictate law and order in the court of her son was unfortunately not a skill either of her surviving children inheirted. Her life spans the final glory days of Rome, and her death heralded the knell for the Western Empire.…
Atlantis Revisited
For all of us to whom Stargate Atlantis was more than just five seasons and one crap ( and shelved!) movie. This is my attempt to keep the television series storyline going beyond season five. I loved these characters, and for those who are avid fans, this is what I had hoped would happen if the actors had managed to buy the franchise, (yeah, MGM's biggest mucked up fess since it's bankruptcy) and will not include anything from the movie. I will, to the best of my rather limited abilities, bring SG-1 characters in as 'guest-stars' in each 'episode'. I'd call it something else, if something else could be found. I will bring Elizabeth Weir back, because, well, she's Elizabeth, and Atlantis isn't Atlantis without her. John Sheppard and his team will still be the focal point of this, except for when I get a rare kick to send out a minor character to try and make it in one of the chunks of spinning, liveable planets that make up the Pegasus Galaxy. (Remember Cavanagh? I've got plans. Elizabeth's threat seems a good place to start on that little matter, right?) I will try to follow the technical and scientific theories of the Stargate universe, as best I can. I, of course, do not own any of these characters, or have any claim to the Stargate franchise beyond my obsession with Atlantis, and with that as my authorization of bona-fides, I will try to stay as closely aligned to the story, characters, and their personalities as portrayed by the actors.
