A young prince wishes for nothing more but to be freed from his chamber of rich loneliness, so he escapes his household and retreats to another kingdom, far away from his own. There, he meets a new friend, who is willing to take him under his wing and teach him in sorcery, or magic. They live there together for many years, training, but before long, their cave is attacked by royal guards under the new law that magic is prohibited. Our young protagonist hid during this, but his friend could not be spared and was taken away by the guards. He flew to a new kingdom yet again, not that far from the one before, hoping to start a new life in isolation as he continued his training alone in the forest not far from the main city. His plans were foiled, however, for the prince of this kingdom was attempting to get away from his duties and relax, in turn finding the sorcerer. He had promised to keep the secret, and they kept meeting together in the forest afterwards for many weeks. Yet, trouble still lurked in the shadows, for the prince of the kingdom was to be assassinated and he had to run away to stay safe. The only place he could think to go was the sorcerer's home, but they had followed, and then the sorcerer was found. Do to the new law, he was sentenced to death, as all magic users were.
