They rely solely on themselves, and the last thing they need is for an incredibly attractive supervillain to disturb their (relatively) quiet existence. However, if time can prove anything, it is that sometimes what we need most is not what we could ever have imagined.{-{ NEW chapters released on Thursdays }-}This story takes place in Gotham City, and therefore within the universe of DC (Detective Comics), making it technically a fan-fiction. Regardless, all the characters and storylines are my own work, except for a few Easter eggs which are aimed for DC fans.I strongly believe the world of superhero fiction could use some diversity and that is exactly what I hope to gift you all with this novel!Furthermore, I have absolutely no professional experience as a paramedic or EMT, so I did as much research as I could to try and have a realistic portrayal of this career, but of course it is not perfect. Hey, there!!I'm a huge fan of "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton and (as you may know if you are too), a few years ago, it was shared with the public that she told Rob Lowe (the actor who played Sodapop Curtis in the movie interpretation of her novel) that his character died. Now, I know this is not cannon (a screenshot for proof is provided), but I ran with it and began writing a short story from Darrel's point of view, of the day he learned the tragic news of his brother's death.Anyways, the story I shared is meant to be faithful to Darrel's character and his thoughts, so it obviously isn't written in fancy British language. I tried my best and, of course, I'm only doing this for my enjoyment (and perhaps yours!). [UNFINISHED]Everyone wants an exciting life until they live one that gets too "exciting". /Even when they come from a land where fairy tales are reality. /Some problems just can't be solved. /From the outside, everyone assumes I love my life and can't wait for my destiny to come true. /Of course, that's just another lie. /And even if I wanted to cry about it, my tears would freeze on my face. / --- I'm not saying I don't want to be an evil sorceress one day, but I shouldn't be one only because my father is an evil enchanter and my mother is a fairy tale villain. We live in The Other World. Every legend, fairy tale or myth, anything that a large proportion of humans believes in, it exists here. They live in an infinite void, separated by their story lines. Because of my parent's whole obsession with seeming like a perfect villain family, they send me to the most prestigious establishment for teenagers of The Other World ; you must be royalty or have very powerful relatives to attend classes there and it's actually on Earth ... There are loads of characters without purpose after the end of their story, around 30% will decide to work there once they truly realize their tale isn't going to evolve any soon. If they aren't famous characters, there are thousands of loyal citizens out there who would kill for a chance to get whatever salary our teachers get.
