[SNIPPET FROM STORY]"He's the kind of person I hate but, I'm in love with him." I hear Arla say, and that's enough to keep me thinking of how ironic her whole statement was. That's what amused me about Arla, she was interested yet complicated which made me want to hangout more with her despite the things about her I'd been constantly warned about.***Addilyn Green wants to believe that maybe she's different. She seems to want to enjoy her life in the present moment, even if that meant not doing anything at all. She enjoys the state of being alone rather than having constant company because she likes to let her thoughts engulf her. Although as much as she despises company, she needs it. That's because as much as the 'perfect student/daughter' image radiates from her, she knows she isn't exactly what everyone thinks of her. Addilyn has a dark side to her which she herself is yet to explore.Her last year in high school was supposed to be like every other year. Carina and Kat, her two best friends talking about life as if they were in other people's shoes. Getting excellent grades and being granted a perfect scholarship. "All I wanted was a New Year's kiss." wailed Avery.***When the clock struck 12, Adrian and Avery were at the beach, laying in each others arms, counting the sparkling stars across the velvety sky. It would mark their one-year relationship right that minute. Instead of inching forward to kiss her, Adrian pushed Avery away from his arms."Look, Ave, I don't think I'm attracted to you anymore. The spark has died down. I used to love you, be crazy over you, but now I feel that way for another girl; Roxanne." as he told her.Avery's eyes welled in tears for she could not hold them back anymore and broke into sobs instead. Adrian pulled her into his embrace. Angrily, she pushed him away."I loved you Adrian, and you had to wait a year to tell me this? Why Adrian, what do you see in her that you don't in me?" Avery yelled, kicking the sand off her feet, frustrated. Mostly, heartbroken. "Look, I couldn't stay with you for another year, I like a variety in my choices, Ave. I'm a changed man with a changed heart. Roxanne, she's a bit different from the others. I fell a little too deep for her. I can't afford to hurt you." Adrian explained."Hurt me? All this, and you even care about my feelings, Adrian? Different? You said I was different when you first confessed your love to me! You liar! You're nothing but a filthy liar!" Avery said, as she picked up her slippers and walked away from the beach.Since then, she never wanted anything more but a sweet little revenge for her sweet little Adrian, who was in love with her best friend.
