After the fiasco that was the shatterverse, Sonic was bored and figured, if he can't contact his friends-- the shatter version of his friends anyways, he really wanted to hug Nine and reassure them that he's alive, he tried, trust him, he really did tried but he didn't exactly have the brains to figured it out more to get it working.
