When someone dies, their soul leaves their body, lingers for a time, and then crosses over to the afterlife. Such is the way professed by countless religions, faiths, dogmas, demagogues, and ideologies. Whether Human or Anthro, when life ends and the time of flesh is done, the spirit transitions to the next plane of existence.But who governs the act of crossing over? Who coordinates, guides, or conducts the process?And what happens when someone doesn't cross over? If they linger, hold on, and do not quit this existence, don't traverse the veil to the next stage, whether that be Paradise, Heaven, Hell, Elysium, etc, and instead remain, as they were, forever...What happens to them?
