Sixteen-year-old Meg O'Brien has always been different. But growing up as the oldest child of her very practical cattle ranching parents has not always afforded her the opportunity to explore these differences. Between her brother who is constantly giving her parents trouble and his twin who seems to be pretty much perfect, Meg has always felt the need to do as she's told, bottle up her weirdness, and mask her way through her almost constant social confusion. But when Meg's grandmother dies suddenly, throwing her family into a chaos of grief and inheritance confusion, Meg suddenly feels more lost than ever.
