🥋🦅 After first appearing in Buffy vs. Dracula, Dawn Summers was eventually revealed as the Key over Season 5; in The Gift, Buffy saved the world & Dawn by jumping into Glory's portal in Dawn's place, thus closing it with her blood. Buffy knew she and Dawn shared "Summers blood" (as Buffy called it) because the monks made Dawn from her; Dawn's blood opened the portal, whereas Buffy's blood closed it. As a result, the portal closed for good and stayed that way since Buffy's death and resurrection.
