Epilogue bonus - Past Retribution
As a criminal feared by many, it was rare that Mr Echis, a.k.a The Snake, had a couple of days off from work.
Having planned and executed dozens of heists, he had never been caught. Crime never sleeps, it haunts when it is least expected. Even when he was a kid, he was always looking for ways to make fast money. And it paid off - he had a beautiful home. Of course, he had always been careful. He had planned and plotted for years and had never made a mistake.
However, The Snake himself is regardless a human. One can never work 24/7 non-stop like a robot.
Sitting down in his private office, situated in his lavished mansion hidden somewhere that no one knows about aside from his trusted deputies, he groaned with a mask on his head. The Snake rarely ever takes out his mask, even at home when his daughter is around. Right now, his daughter is out during school hours, so she won't be back till 3 hours from now.
Occasionally, however, he would remember the words of his former employer, that woman back in the U.K who murdered her own flesh and blood. Even though she was a shitty mother, at least she knew how to take care of her employees when her husband left with his mistress and married her later on.
Now, with several days to himself, when he had time off, usually he cools himself by watching the movies he likes. Mainly The Godfather. Especially on a quiet Wednesday. As a father, the last thing he wants is his daughter to watch this kind of movie, even though she is very much aware of what he works in his professional life.
The Snake quietly watch the movie with the projector playing out its content on the screen. No matter how many times he watched it, he can never get tired of it.
After that white tiger incident, he had to come up with another exotic animal to give to one of his connection's 50th birthday. Originally after he got word that the contact of interest wanted a white tiger rug to decorate his office, he thought of Mr Rupert and initially considered him handing the tiger over. Peace of cake.
However, Mr Rupert was an addictive gambler. He didn't care if the risk are high, as long as he reaps in the rewards, he will go of it without thinking of the consequences.
The same goes whenever he supplies The Snake animals from the circus. It has been 2 years since The Snake loaned him the money to buy over the circus. Although the investment was worth it, Mr Rupert got greedy as he began sending out more animals than originally discussed, tipping off other circus performers as more animals began going missing to fund Mr Echis's criminal empire.
That's right, things got so bad, the previous owner who happens to be the son of the late circus ringmaster decided to buy the cages himself to lock them all up, and entrusted the keys to one of the circus performers rather than Mr Rupert. If it was feeding time, Mr Rupert had no choice but to cut the food into smaller pieces before feeding them to the animals. After all, Mr Rupert retaliated in response by locking the tent to prevent the other performers from seeing the animals.
But there was a little on what Rupert can do. A circus can't run without animals. No matter what, he is still under the mercy of those performers. Even when he was put in charge of transporting the animals over, he can only transport them silently as he had men push the wagon cage containing those said animals.
Then, The Snake had an idea.
Not long ago, he lost money thanks to some idiot having stolen a couple of his forged historical documents. The same one The Snake had one of their men sell it to this pawn shop and secretly scammed them for over a year. Serve them right, since that pawnshop had a reputation for undervaluing valuable items customers would often bring over to pawn.
If it wasn't for that idiot, The Snake could have made 4 million yen more.
So he wrote a note and had someone send it over to the prison where he was placed in. The Snake called it a debt Watanabe owes. But then when he got word from Watanabe that he came in contact with some boy fishing, had some major concerns.
First and foremost, he wanted to do things low profile. This is why after breaking him from prison, he had one of his deputies ensure that one of them should send in a driver to pick him up on time.
However, one can only do so much as a master criminal, despite his deputy's very professional way of doing things, it is always those idiots from the lowest hierarchy that always manages to slip through the cracks and cause problems to his nth yen criminal empire that he took a year to build, with blood and sweat minus tears.
Fortunately, that matter is already dealt with by ending the irresponsible bugger's life. Serve him right for not taking the car out for maintenance.
Of course, The Snake could've just ended the life of one of the deputies in charge, but at the end of the day, he is aware it ain't his fault. This was beyond his control, he ain't one of those stereotype villains' that simply end the life of one deputy just because he made a catastrophic mistake. Also, it takes time to go through screening and select another deputy after ending the other's life. It's just not practical in his opinion.
Plus, it ain't easy to have to adapt to running this criminal empire at a fast-paced, especially when it took a year to build.
Everyone is still trying to get used to the system of the underground world as time goes on. Right now the deputies are frantic, trying to find another alternative exotic animal to hand it to his contact of interest. The Snake can go for another White tiger, but too much money is already spent on breaking that useless Watanabe out, let alone, attempting to steal that tiger, he cannot afford another one.
If all goes well, he should be able to secure a profitable contract with them.
One of his deputies was right, he should've purchased it easily from the black market.
But he wanted to cut costs and didn't listen to him, now thanks to those brats, he lost more. Plus, his Toyota car... was costly. Still, it was fortunate The Snake had backup funding and illegal investments to make up for it. Otherwise, his empire would've been screwed. But what the hell is going on, really? A group of kids coming after them?
The Snake drummed his fingers, no longer watching The Godfather on the screen as he deeply wonders. When he stationed the men over to take a look, they brought him a list of names where the kids allegedly were coming up for their supposed 'Detective Club'. At that time, he decided it was a waste of time and called off the stakeout.
It wasn't like The Snake fears a group of kids coming after an adult-like him. After all, he had committed so many murders, a simple bullet to the brain would've been enough to end all 7 of their lives. Also, he ended the life of a boy back in the U.K using his mother, easy case.
However, The Snake didn't send out his men all for nought. He had every right to be worried.
For you see, the news of The Fox was something he couldn't ignore.
Before the majority of his men who were on his payroll were arrested, one of them tipped them off that a child was involved in solving all those murders. At first, The Snake had a hard time believing him, but his intel had always been accurate.
Curious, he tried digging further into it, but that is when his investigation reached a screeching halt. Suddenly, all the news about The Fox is no longer around, removed from the net and news. As if The Fox was a fictional figure that barely exist, it was all made up.
For a while, The Snake didn't think much of it. Then, he recalled his men having returned his car with all the tires cut off, explaining a child did this to his car.
The Snake paused his movie from his computer that is connected to the projector, before going through his files and replaying the dashcam footage from the car. Once more, it only showed the hair of one of the children. Recalling the conversation that took place the other day when he confronted out of the 4 who damaged his vehicle, all 4 of them claimed they did it.
That's right, out of the four, a little red lip girl with blue eyes stood out. The smallest yet the bravest.
That disapproving stare from the little girl seemed somehow familiar to The Snake. "That girl...where have I seen her before?"
For some reason, he had a dreaded feeling about this. Something is nagging in him that he is very likely going to come across these 7 children. It ain't going to be an on-off thing. He then recalled the plushie hanging in his car, that white deer, reminding him of the night his former employer murdered her son.
Right, that must be the reason why he misunderstood seeing that brave 6-year-old girl as his ex-employer's son's only friend, that girl who led the state funeral.
The Snake didn't really had the intention on stealing that plushie the night 'The Boy' died before fleeing using the car, but he knew about the projector's existence. A tool that would grant him lavish wealth and retirement one could ever dream of, the window to the future. Unfortunately, he was stupid to think the employer's son would hide it in that girl's plushie, for he never found the projector.
That boy was too cunning, where the hell did he hide it?!
But before he could look into it, the door sounded open downstairs as one announces, "Father! I am home! Are we ready for lunch?"The child's voice could be heard shouting from downstairs."We have a party to attend, remember? Some guy's 50th birthday party?"
Hurriedly, he closed the video before shutting down the computer, deciding he should look into it another day. "Coming!"
...........................................................................................
No matter how absurd one may face as The Fox, Ranran thought she had grown used to the farce of all of such nonsensical situations after 2 years.
Considering most situations whereby she helped the clients change their future for the better, diverting them away from their path to 'villainy', she never could've foresee herself doing the same.
Yet, here she is: In Japan, with may foes awaiting her demise while she sits in her lavish bedroom. And she is only 6. No matter, she knew how to deal with this.
After all, what was in this book....was a guide to achieve her own personal happiness.
"Ranran, if you are watching this....I....am no longer around."
The little 6-year-old girl's shoulder slumped as she quietly opened the tacky book, recalling the 8-year-old boy's expression towards the camera in the video he last left for her behind before his unexpected death.
"And considering how things had turned out....I don't ever want you to think that you are at fault for my death. Cause if anything.....I would do it again if I have to."
With the blue eyes scanning diligently onto his hand writing, his voice played out in her head, the memory of him facing the camera as he voice his true thoughts.
"Anyway, I....realized that comparing to all of the hell (or fate as I put it) that awaits each and every one of us in Edgewood Academy, yours is by far....the worst of the worst. I....did private investigation onto that boy, his friends, even the people around the neighbourhood.....at the moment, you are already off to a bad start, Ranran."
As if Ranran isn't aware.
"But the one thing that makes you different from the rest of the clients we had worked with....is that this time....you are no longer that inferior girl who feels like lacks a lot of things in life. Be it love, or friends, or even family love for that matter....it will remain as it is now."
The deceased boy laughed with a faint, bittersweet chuckle. The sound seemed to hang in the air, mingling with the quiet of the lavish room, a stark contrast to the serious content of the message.
"Of course, I wish I was there to see it. See your cunning tricks you had pulled onto our clients' grievances to take effect onto your foes, cause they truly deserved it for what they did to you, even though you did in fact deserve the punishment in that future. But they needed to learn that they too needed to face the consequences of their actions."
Ranran's grip tightened around the book, her mind swirling with the boy's words.
"Just because they are supposedly 'good children', doesn't mean they are better than you in many ways that they are not," the boy's voice continued, "And they needed to learn that hating people who pull dirty tricks....may not necessary translate to you being a 'bad child' by default. Whether they like it or not. Cause in real life....even the most kindest child is also capable of being evil."
Ranran's thoughts spun as she processed the boy's message. Both of them had seen the complexities and contradictions in people's behaviour since running Fox and Deer, an insight that now resonated deeply with her.
"The book that I had willed to you through a lawyer....do you recalled those Isekai Anime shows whereby the main character always thinks several steps ahead because they had knowledge of the world? Or those Otome games you spoke about whenever your mother plays at home? Think of it as this in real life, minus the reincarnation but with a 'guide' to lead your own life in chronological order. Before, I always used to do this to each of our clients without telling you, but now that I am no longer around, you'll have to take on the mantle yourself."
The more Ranran thought of how tragic things are for them, the more anger that she felt began to well up inside her chest.
This is a world where magic doesn't exist, nor Isekai happens. This is reality, no Truck-kun in the world that runs her or anyone over will ever bring her away from this unhappy place and reunite with 'The Boy' who died under her stead. And she is no adult, she is a mere 6-year-old child who merely lived her life for 5 years in London at some prestigious Edgewood Academy, before she was forcefully taken away to Japan by her own family, ripped away from everything she has ever known.
How insulting her life is now.
Despite her anger and despair, Ranran knew she had to channel her emotions into something productive. The boy's message, though it stung, was a challenge she had to accept. The book was her only tool in this new reality, and it was up to her to make the best of it.
Not just for 'his' sake, nor their friends sake, but also....for her own sake.
...........................................................................................
The pages, filled with notes and observations from the boy, were more than just instructions—they were insights into the dynamics she would face.
It has been almost a year since she had gone through with the 'Cheat book' her friends from Edgewood Academy has called it. The first major event that took her to villainy was definitely 'that event' at the mall.
According to the book, when she moved to Japan during a Parkour event, that boy called Shinichi 'demean' her in such manner, she got bullied throughout Elementary school, then middle school in Japan for almost a total of 9 years.
Screw him, Ranran can handle that matter with ease.
Sure, she did framed him by breaking her own leg after manipulating those boys who were with him to bully her, and did feel a little bad when all the adults including his own parents sided her while forcing him to apologize, especially when her parents are aware she staged this, but in her opinion this was very worth it.
One, although he was force to befriend those 'hooligans' who were with Shinichi because they threatened to bully his two so-called besties Ran and Sonoko, being a bystander as he watched others bully her is one thing, since she too wouldn't have done a thing, fair enough. But joining in? Hell no, that is where he crossed the line.
Of course, she too find it stupid to break her own leg. It was after all a drastic measure. Plus the fact that she will become an outcast in Teitan Elementary school was something that rang in her head.
However, if this is enough to prevent 9 years of being bullied, not to mention, create a distrustful atmosphere that the other children will never dare to approach and use her as a puppet to their liking, then it is a small price to pay.
Befriending Shinichi was actually a suggested option among her friends in Edgewood Academy, since they are in the loop of what her future was going to become. However, a 'bastard' through suspected infidelity is never going to win his respect or so in Shinichi's eyes, so Ranran might as well cast him aside at a corner, like a trash at the alleyway.
Also, she already had acquired the skillset throughout her days as The Fox, so she barely need him.
Part 2 was to gain some experience in the world of the law, seek out any loopholes in it to obtain revenge. Problem is, a lot of the occupations she had her friends of Edgewood look into didn't look promising for Ranran's part.
The thought of becoming a lawyer had initially seemed promising. After all, with a thorough understanding of legal loopholes, she could have wielded the law like a double-edged sword. Yet, the very nature of the legal profession, with its strict adherence to ethics and impartiality, would mean being shackled by rules she despised, forced to represent clients who might very well be her enemies or those she had once sought revenge against. In essence, it would turn her into a puppet of the very system she wished to manipulate.
Turning her attention to the notion of becoming a police detective, she felt a pang of frustration. The allure of accessing confidential evidence and uncovering hidden truths had been strong, but the rampant corruption she had heard about in Japan made the prospect less appealing. Dealing with bribery and cover-ups while trying to navigate a system plagued by dishonesty seemed more like a recipe for disaster than a route to power. The thought of wading through such muck without the leverage she once had in the U.K. was daunting.
Don't get her wrong, she has experiences in doing things like bribery, framing and cover-ups that would've put the corrupted police officers to shame. But engaging in such activities in a systematic and extremely large-scale manner was a different beast altogether. The subtlety and precision required in her new environment were far beyond the scope of petty manipulations she'd conducted before.
Instead of jumping headfirst into a profession where she would be bound by rules she sought to subvert, Ranran decided that her approach needed to be more....low profile.
...........................................................................................
"Who the hell send this child here!?"
One of the Japan police officers scoffed, pointing without looking at the little red lip girl whose face is covered in a Fox mask who remained unfazed at the man's anger. She was only a small figure in the sea of adults, yet her presence demanded attention.
"That man did it, didn't he? I didn't think he meant it literally when he threaten to send in his own daughter to keep an eye on us." another officer grumbled, clearly irritated by the sight of someone so young in their midst.
"Who the hell he thinks we are!? Babysitters!? This ain't a kindergarten, this is a police force!"
"Let's just ignore her then, like we did yesterday."
The room was thick with tension, each officer's mood oscillating between irritation and bewilderment. They had clearly been caught off guard by her unexpected intrusion.
Without a word, Ranran reached into her coat and pulled out a neatly organized folder. The officers' eyes followed her movements, their annoyance momentarily forgotten as they eyed the unexpected package. She placed it on a nearby desk with deliberate care, her movements precise and measured.
"I hope you guys had fun with your 'work shifts' the other day during New Year when you were all telling stories to your spouses," Ranran said calmly, "Such a shame they were not invited to that 'party'."
The officers exchanged uneasy glances, the earlier dismissive attitude shifting to a more cautious curiosity. Ranran had struck a nerve, hinting at a level of insider knowledge that was both unsettling and intriguing.
"Is this some sort of joke?" the burly officer demanded, his voice low and dangerous. "You think you can just waltz in here and make accusations without any proof?"
"I don't need to," The 5-year-old chuckled at them before announcing, "Because I already send them to each of your respective spouses. You are welcome."
The room fell into stunned silence as Ranran's words echoed through the air. The officers, previously brimming with bravado, were now left speechless, their faces draining of color as they absorbed the gravity of her revelation.
The burly officer, his initial anger giving way to a look of sheer disbelief, took a step back. "What did you just say!?"
"Since you are still deaf, let me clarify: I have already sent detailed accounts of your recent activities to your spouses. Every little story you shared during those so-called 'work shifts' has been documented and delivered to them."
The burly officer's face contorted with a mix of rage and panic. "You little brat! How dare you! You think you can just—"
"Calm down," Ranran cut him off with a dismissive wave of her hand. "The truth is already out there anyway. Why act all over the place like headless chickens?"
Her nonchalance only fueled the officers' agitation. The senior officer with the neatly trimmed beard took a deep breath, his composure faltering. "They are not going to believe a word you—"
"Why? Because it is photoshopped?" Ranran's eyes narrowed behind her fox mask. "I know you guys might say that, which is why I made sure to include timestamps, witness accounts, and even a few digital receipts to back up my claims. Oh right!" She had her fist pound her other palm as she chuckled, "To ensure all of this isn't made up, I happen to be friends with a couple of real life wealthy business people, they were there at the V.I.P section when your little 'celebrations' were going on, and to record all of this in 4K resolution."
"You wouldn't dare!" One of them snarled at the 5-year-old with a glare, "We could call this a Deepfake!"
"Oh believe me, this is not a bluff." Ranran chuckled menacingly before revealing, "Tomorrow there is a release of this new upcoming software that can detect what is a 'Deep Fake' video from one of my associates at Shibuya, you know where there is, right? Guess which video is going to be tested live online in front of 2 million spectators?"
A murmur of unease spread among the officers. The idea of their misdeeds being subjected to scrutiny in such a public manner was clearly distressing. They were well aware of the potential fallout, both personally and professionally. The burly officer, struggling to maintain his composure, tried to bluff. "So what? Whatever that damn software your 'associates' is about to introduce....can never perfectly prove that whatever video you recorded is the real deal!"
The burly officer's bluster did little to mask the rising panic in his voice. Ranran's smile widened behind her fox mask, her eyes glittering with a mix of amusement and cold determination.
"True," she acknowledged smoothly, "While it might not be flawless, it will reveal enough to convince the public and the press to want to....shall we say: dig deep, right?"
Her words were a calculated jab, aiming to unsettle them further. The implication was clear: Either way, they are screwed both in many ways one would count.
The senior officer with the neatly trimmed beard clenched his fists, struggling to maintain his composure. "You do know that blackmailing police officers is a crime, right!?"
"Do I?" she replied smoothly, her tone almost playful. "That's an interesting point, but let's consider the bigger picture, shall we? Blackmailing is indeed a crime, but aside of the things you guys did as well...legally, how can I be charge with a crime when the minimum juvenile age for a kid here in Japan is 14?"
The senior officer's face was a mask of frustration, his eyes darting around as he tried to regroup but no words could come out of his mouth, let alone, any of the adult's mouth. The implication of her words was clear: Ranran was weaponizing her age to shield herself from legal repercussions, and if anything had taught him, is that this child before him is a budding psychopath in the making.
"You! If I just utter one word to the press about the fact that your father put you here, neither you nor your family would escape unscathed!"
"Really?" she said, her tone almost mocking. "Then....may I ask....do you even know what is my father's real name? Or even my real name?"
The senior officer's threat seemed to roll off her like water off a duck's back. The senior officer's face twitched with frustration. "What are you getting at?"
"Your name sir...is Sano Mitsuo, deshou? And that daughter of yours who just started enrolling in that prestigious elementary school....her name is Hiromi-san, right? From class 1-A in Nozomi Elementary school."
The senior officer's face went ashen as Ranran casually reeled off details about his personal life. The information she had was too specific to be mere guesswork or coincidence.
"W-What are you talking about?" Sano Mitsuo stammered, struggling to maintain his composure. His fingers twitched as he tried to regain control of the situation.
Ranran's voice was smooth and unyielding, her eyes locking onto his with an almost predatory gleam. "You see, Mr. Sano, I've done my homework. I know who you are, who your family is, and where they go to school. My associates are quite thorough. Your daughter's enrolment, your family's details— how can a low rank Tantei like you with such salary is able to afford sending her there?"
The senior officer's face drained of color, his composure faltering under Ranran's probing questions. He glanced nervously at his colleagues, who were also looking increasingly uncomfortable.
"Where....are you heading with this?" Sano Mitsuo asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Ranran's eyes narrowed, her gaze sharp and unyielding. "Nothing, I'm merely a child engaging in mischief, you know?"
With the man's eyes flickered with a mix of confusion and apprehension. The tension in the room was palpable, the officers shifting uncomfortably as they absorbed Ranran's insinuations.
"I'm just a five-year-old with no legal capacity. My actions might be seen as a misunderstanding or mischief rather than a criminal offense. So, while you're right that this could be considered blackmail, it's more likely to be dismissed as the actions of a child who didn't fully grasp the implications of her actions. The same can't be said for all of you in this very room, let alone, your spouses, relatives, and children alike." Ranran spoke in a tone that carry a blend of innocence and menace.
"You monster! How dare you involve my daughter in this matter!?" Sano Mitsuo's voice was tight, strained. He clearly felt cornered, caught between the desire to maintain his dignity and the fear of the consequences Ranran was hinting at.
"Your concerns for your daughter are touching, Mr. Sano. Perhaps you should reflect on how your choices affect her future, rather than the minor discomfort of a temporary scandal."
Sano Mitsuo's face twisted with frustration and anger. "You think you're in control here? You think you can just manipulate us and walk away?"
"Oh, I'm not manipulating anyone. I'm merely presenting options."
"We could just storm off and you will have no power over us!"
"Storm off if you wish. The consequences will still unfold, and the public will be left to draw their own conclusions. Also, the taxpayers would be more than happy to pay their taxes onto more 'qualified Tanteis' that I have at my disposal."
"You are bluffing! You are only 5!"
"Then go ahead and walk," Ranran taunted gleefully, "Cause this place will certainly thrive without the whole lot of trash like the rest of you."
With her taunt hung in the air while carrying a venomous edge, the senior officer, Sano Mitsuo, and his colleagues exchanged uneasy glances. The gravity of the situation was becoming more apparent with each passing moment. The threat of public scandal loomed large, amplified by Ranran's confident and unsettling demeanour.
Now staging a walk out wasn't an issue, but that would mean no more income to support their families, something Ranran knew deep down they can never be able to afford it. Furthermore, despite doing do the things as Ranran accused of them to have committed, inflation within their country hadn't been kind to them that even the bribe money wasn't enough to cover their daily expenses. One last option is to transfer to another department which was also feasible, however, all of the available opening are either in the rural villages or small town, and that would be the last thing those cops wanted since they were so accustomed to city life.
In other words: They are screwed. She literally held them by the leash, and they can see no way out.
"What....what do you want from us?" Sano Mitsuo's face was a mix of anger and apprehension.
Knowing that they are powerless against the 5-year-old, she immediately announced, "Show up on time, if anyone dare to make excuses by stating 'family emergency' which includes family petty feuds involving in-laws with their spouses, or no one to fetch their kid home, or claim 'sick' which is a form of 'hangover', you know where this ends."
The implication was clear. Ranran wasn't merely asserting her dominance; she was ensuring that the officers understood the stakes. The list of acceptable excuses was clearly laid out, but her warning was even more explicit: any deviation from her demands would be met with severe consequences.
"And just to be clear, any breach will not only affect your careers but will also impact your families. I trust that's understood."
The officers were left with the grim realization that their choices were no longer truly theirs. Ranran's calculated maneuvering had left them with no room to maneuver, and the looming threat of losing everything made their situation feel even more dire.
...........................................................................................
Everything had gone accordingly to Ranran's plan a year later.
The ripple effects of Ranran's ruthless tactics had reshaped the landscape. The majority of the corrupt officials were gone, their replacements now working under a new set of stringent rules. Ranran's strategy had succeeded beyond her initial calculations, and her influence had expanded significantly.
Even though she was not able to remove all of the corrupted officials, particularly the higher-ups who remained entrenched in their positions, Ranran's remains as the puppeteer in the intricate dance of political reform.
But Ranran knew deep down this itself isn't enough.
Especially if she has to be up against her ill-fated future nemesis, 6-year-old Ishibashi Mamiko, she would need more power at her disposal.
She was after all...the root of Kudo Ranran's downfall in the future, let alone, everyone else's - Ishibashi Mamiko from 1-D.
In the biography, Mamiko had a gentle reputation. When Ranran scan through the guide her mentor wrote, allegedly in the biography revealed that Ranran got into serious trouble by pushing one of the kids down the stairs, then Mamiko is the one who pleaded to the head principal that Ranran should be given a chance to repent.
Thanks to that incident, she was popular among their grade as having the mentality of a saint. That Mamiko is mature beyond her years, understanding, and also kind to bad kids like Ranran.
However, there was a problem with this biography: Everything Ranran investigated about Mamiko behind the scenes...were lies.
Mamiko in reality was merely using Ranran as one of her pawns, a way to present herself to be a girl who can do no wrong. And once she is done with a pawn with no value, she disposes of them and hunt for another.
To put it bluntly, 6-years-old Ishibashi Mamiko was a pretentious fraud.
And similarly to Ranran, she has the ability to encourage chaos, even bullies of the school to do bad things to others without implicating herself. The things Ranran investigated the things Mamiko did was so vicious and cruel, it made Ran and Sonoko unreasonable behavior that Mamiko instigated look like amateur work! Those two girls are like bulls in a china shop, while Mamiko is the cowgirl riding on both of their backs, they are her pawns to fight anyone who tried to go against her.
By the time the Ranran in the biography found out about it at the last minute at the age of 17, as that woman read out Mamiko's part in the projector video, it sent shivers to Ranran.
"What can I do? You are too much. If it was anyone's fault, it was none other than your own wrongdoing that led to your downfall."
This scene took place before Ranran was dragged into the student council office by a teacher for getting into trouble with another kid, as the blonde later revealed to her audience that she knew of this because she also interviewed the sociopathic Mamiko in prison, who would later serve her time in jail for duping multiple men for their money, even murder. The worst part of all of this...is that it was further revealed that no one doubted Mamiko was behind this, fooling everyone with her hypocritical face. And she was never exposed as an evil girl till she was in her 30s, which also means Kudo Shinichi never saw through her true facade.
Seriously, which idiot granted him title 'Great Detective of the East' in the biography? What a joke, he couldn't even detect that this girl is doing all of this shady deals right now. That showed how blind he is when it came to girls.
The 6-year-old said nothing but pinch her nose bridge while leaning her back against the chair. If anything Ranran would want to describe this girl, she is a combination of Mouri Ran, Suzuki Sonoko, and every single unreasonable girl, culprit, murderer, and robber alike the red-lip girl has ever come across, but with an intelligence that could rival Ranran's. A sociopath. Nothing about her kind facade, let alone, actions, has ever been genuine, and the reason Mamiko was even able to get this far is thanks to her mother's secret profession that no one knows about besides Ranran.
Then again, considering her own future self had no idea Mamiko was a gas lighter, what right does the present Ranran had to criticise towards Shinichi?
Also, he was surrounded by two morons whom he considered as his friends his whole life, there is nothing to doubt in their words.
Seriously, Ranran wouldn't even be surprise if Mamiko was the one who spread those rumours that Ranran is The Fox, which is what lead to Shinichi breaking into her house as a result.
Which meant all of the meticulous planning had gone to waste for Ranran's part, for almost a year's worth. No matter, Mamiko probably didn't expect Ranran to take Shinichi's request on becoming her apprentice, which went against Mamiko's purpose because the sole reason for spreading that Fox rumours is to win Shinichi to Mamiko's side, except in backfired.
And now, Ranran is certain Mamiko must be at this point tearing her own bedroom apart because it backfired. And for some reason, Ranran had a nagging suspicion that Mamiko won't sit still and do nothing.
The very pawns Mamiko is using behind the scenes, Shinichi, including Ran and Sonoko, who is stupidly believed Ranran is manipulating Shinichi...just for the sole purpose of endangering her, she will use the very pawns to turn it against her.
And when 'D-day' arrives, Mamiko will regret the day she tried to ruin Kudo Ranran, and this humiliation will eventually go down in her very own criminal biography written by Kudo Ranran herself. But that would be another story for another time.
