Chapter 29 - The Trolley Dilemma

"How come you have to be the only one scouring press stories for any Watanabe-related cases!? Is that girl insane or something!?"

Sonoko revealed her disgust for Ranran with a sneer, as there were heaps of newspapers all over the floor at Ran's father's detective agency office, which is placed above a café. Mouri Ran's father isn't around since he has to go to work on a client's case, but Suzuki is assisting Ran in sifting through piles of files in search of any case that recorded Watanabe's robbery in the years preceding his current arrest. After all, the paper rustled when Sonoko and Ran read one of the pieces. It was tough to stay up to date on current events, but they didn't have much of a choice at this point.

"We don't have much of a choice, given how tedious the situation is already." Ran exhales, sorting the ones they've read or had no relevance to the left, while the ones with Watanabe relevance to the right. "Also, the others are already busy with their workload, so I have to do something to speed things up."

After Sonoko had escaped from school with the kids still on her, she received a phone call from Ran, who asked for her assistance in sorting out the news clipping regarding Watanabe. When Sonoko arrived, she was taken aback by the piles of paper on the floor, despite the fact that Ran had only managed to go through 12 newspapers in an hour.

"I have my doubts! She forced you to go through mountains of paperwork dating back to before we were even born! She most likely assigned you this assignment to torment you because of me!" Sonoko was filled with rage and remorse at what Ranran was putting her buddy through; if she hadn't eavesdropped on their talk, Ran wouldn't be in this situation! "Ran, you should resign. Don't bother establishing my innocence! That girl is a psychopath! If the case isn't solved, she'll make your life a living hell!"

"You can't say that, Sonoko. You were there for me when my parents divorced through thick and thin, and as my mother once said, "innocent until proven guilty.""

"But what if we don't succeed, Ran? It's clear from the outset that she doesn't like us! When she had Shinichi strike me with a bat so hard..." Sonoko clipped Ran's remarks, her eyes welling up with tears as she sorted another piece of paper. "However, I am shocked that Miyama was interested in joining the Tantei association."

"Eh?"

"She had always been a lone-wolf of her own, having no friends around her and is living well for herself. What is her motive for joining Tantei association I wonder?"Suzuki wonders in suspicion, "Does she not realize what is she getting herself into? Even if she doesn't die under the agency, she won't last long with Ranran's character. I wonder if she is desperate to be part of a club?"

"I doubt it, that doesn't sound like her character."Ran doubts, putting away another newspaper, "I think she did it because she is interested in Ranran."

"Wait, interest over that devil?"Suzuki gazes at her friend in scepticism.

"When you think about it, we don't know anything about Ranran's life before she came here. I'm guessing she needs Ranran's intel to survive in this school. Sine Ranran made so many enemies and that no one is able to defeat her, her intel will probably be the most valuable to Emiko if they want to use it against her."

"You have a point," Mouri said, frowning, "although I don't recall Miyama asking any inquiries regarding Ranran's personal life when we were at Tantei association."

"That demon has always had a stiff upper lip; there's no way she can persuade her to talk." Suzuki ties up another bundle of newspapers after reading the last one, which they finished in the following hour. "Whatever it is, I believe Miyama is making a mistake."

"Eh?"

"Cause when you think about it, she is now a member there for the rest of the month."Sonoko waited till Ran was done with hers, only then Ran passed her another newspaper and Suzuki piled it onto the relevant bundle before tying it up once more."Being under a demon like her...it's like slavery for life. What was that Tantei geek thinking when he has chosen to become her apprentice?"

"I doubt she is that evil."Ran thinks about it, as she tells Sonoko," She given each of us member a contract, you know? That we have one week to decide on whether we want to remain there permanently or just touch and go."

"I doubt she's that bad." Ran mulls it over and informs Sonoko, "Which reminds me, she gave us members a contract and told all of us that we have one week to decide if we want to stay as a permanent member or it's going to be a one-time deal."

"Eh!?" Suzuki jerked her head back at Ran, exclaiming, "Really!?"

"Yeah." Ran acknowledged, recalling the contract's provisions, "We have the option of saying yes or no. We are not permitted to re-enter if we decline to be long-term members, according to Ranran. If we do, it needs to be permanent till we finish primary school."

"Huh...that is surprising."

"Why?"

"I would've expected her to be the one pleading for others to remain."

Sonoko wasn't expecting this, because she was convinced Ranran would do whatever to keep them around, much like the other clubs in their school, to keep their club going, let alone prevent 'club-hopping.'

Though there is no necessity for the club to have a certain number of members in order to function, activities must be carried out to demonstrate that the club is beneficial to the school. The issue of club-hopping, on the other hand, has been a cause of concern for many, since most students tend to feel overwhelmed by the pressure of completing particular tasks before the deadline. This is why on the first day a member joins the club, the prefects would generally try to get them to sign the contract they drafted for them in order to avoid such complications. The fact Ranran didn't make others puzzled.

That is why the contracts Ranran devised exist; club prefects have the authority to establish their own terms and conditions. If the terms were absurd, the student council would be the one to intervene and investigate." She also stated that she will no longer be accepting new members after receiving everyone's contracts."

"Isn't that a little far-fetched?" Sonoko is perplexed "With all of the severe responsibilities that come with being a detective, how is one supposed to maintain a club? In addition...how are the terms, by the way?"

"It's horrible. Aside from extended investigative hours even after school, there was one regulation in particular that I recall being utterly ludicrous." Ran sighs as she stacks three newspapers she had scanned at the same time into the non-relevant pile, before recalling,"The association will not be held liable for the following employment occupational dangers indicated below:

◙ Thinks life is not worth living anymore and wants their life to end.

◙ Dread falling in love, marry or even dating due to lolicon related incidents

◙ No longer able to have kids of their own

◙ End up becoming disabled physically and mentally, or mentally insane

◙ Dies while on duty

"Ooi! Ain't that too irresponsible!?"Sonoko felt outraged over this.

"It did at first for me, but Emiko seems to see it differently."

"What did she say?"

"It may sound cruel, but..."

".....but?"Sonoko pressed further.

"At least it was honest to the core."

"Hah!?"

"Miyama-san been kicked out of every school club enough to read the terms and all of that, and she mentioned all of them tend to not be very straightforward with the workload as Ranran's contract. If anything, she was impressed by the honesty behind it. So impressed by it...she signed it!"

Suzuki's jaw dropped."Seriously!?Even after reading such...dubious contract!?"

"Anyway, even Shinichi  submitted his contract to her, so did Majima and Takuma."

"Hah!? Even the boys did it!? Despite..."Suzuki struggles to digest this piece of information. Confusion turned to horror as she questions Ran, "You didn't sign it, did you-"

"No, of course not."Ran shakes her head and dismisses Suzuki, "I only join to get you out of the mess Ranran caused, remember?"

"Oh my....to think even Miyama-san be easily tricked by..."Suzuki was dismayed by this.

"Ah no, she said that Shinichi is a smart boy, he ain't the type that will pick a girl too emotional to work on logical cases with him, let alone, would work with someone evil. If she was evil, Ranran would've hidden this from all of us, to begin with."

Sonoko nodded."She did make a fair point. I would've been pissed off if I find out she didn't state it down."Despite this, Sonoko wore an unhappy face. "Even so, is Ran going to be okay working in this association with that psychopath? I mean...she is so....scheming."Sonoko asked Emiko with her concerned tone.

"Don't worry."Ran reassures her, "I know how to deal with someone like her. Come on, "Ran stood up after hours of kneeling having finished sorting out the newspaper with Sonoko."Let's clean this place up."

Ran stood up to leave while Sonoko joined her at the kitchen to collect the tools necessary to clean up the mess they had caused.

.....

The following Wednesday, the members of Tantei association were off to a rocky start at 7:50 am. "Damn it, Kudo Ranran! Open the damn door!"

As Fuyuko Junko went up to open the door of the Tantei Association in their school, she was smart enough to obtain a copy of the key to the club after convincing the adults of this school to hand it over, as she had concerns over Michio's mental state regarding the robbery. A mere mention of Ranran's name did make them worry enough to hand it over.

But what she didn't know was, that quick-witted Tantei girl was one step ahead of her, sending Michio to file an application to the student council, requesting a change of lock as Ranran claimed 'intruder break in', making it impossible for Junko to enter the office.

Bang bang bang! The door pounded loudly by the girl sounded like doom to the members of the association as all of them gathered early in the discussion of the case, each in their own respective seat. The interior of the school in Tantei association is smaller despite the similar way it was decorated, slightly cramped. The desk was cluttered with boxes of files, with slightly run-down cabinets plus old chairs that easily wobble.

"Hello! Are you guys listening to me!? Open the damn door!" She attempts to peer at the window to get them to notice, but the curtains were all drawn shut.

"Ooi, Ranran, are you sure this is a good idea?"

Michio's concerns were drowned by the sounds of Junko's pounding, as the members stare at the door in concern. Takuma, who is staring at all of this, felt like Junko must have been some gorilla in her previous life, being able to pound so damn hard even for a girl. Emiko was helping Ran and Michio to sort the crime files through the shelves, while Takuma, Ranran, and Shinichi remained in their seats staring at the door in annoyance.

"Obviously, "Said the red lip girl with a smirk, her attention remains on the paper," Also, I made sure she will get detention today for interfering with our investigation."

"Ooooh, Ranran, what is this thing that will get her in trouble?"Takuma's interest was piqued over what scheme did she pull this time.

"I had Emiko run through her school duties schedule based on intel and it turns out, Junko was supposed to mop the floor yesterday. But she avoided her duties to confront us. Since our school had a strict policy of skipping clean-up duties, and with Emiko's intel that no one was around when she was last seen in 4-D, I later got Michio to leave a couple of presents there to show sensei she didn't do her duties at all."

"Ooooh! That is good!" Shinichi became interested.

"But I was surprised you were able to get the school council to apply for a change in the lock. How is it they were willing to fork out the money to change it of us so quickly?"Michio turned to Shinichi in a questioning look.

"While Michio was busy leaving presents there, Emiko had to trash our agency here as if someone broke into it, then ensured no one has ever walked past our association before staging it. It was convincing enough for the council to have our locks and give us new copies of the key later on."Shinichi answered, folding his arms as he was impressed with the blue-eyed girl's scheming ways.

"You do know that this is like falsifying some police report, right?"Ran pointed this out to Ranran while approaching to grab her seat, "we are not even robbed here! If they ever found out by contacting the police-"

"Ran, when they came to our main agency and stole our notes, which fortunately they fail, we couldn't even file police reports because they are merely just plain notes." Said the detective girl flipping her pencil out of habit," Also, I informed them was nothing was stolen and they think it was a troublemaker who vandalize it. That was all it took."

"Even so....."

"This school has no CCTV, even if any of us said it, nothing was stolen. But enough said this is just a temporary solution at this point. In the meantime, I already found ways doing so."Ranran explained.

"Just please don't resort to murder, alright?" Shinichi reminded her, as he hooked his pencil to his ear. Ranran rolled her eyes by his comment, making Shinichi insist on further, "Don't need to throw away your key to freedom for people like Junko, even though I hated her more than I already did."

The girl huffed in annoyance while Majima tries to play peacemaker after he and Emiko completed organizing their files, as they too take their seat."Maa Maa, don't get too emotional. Anyway, onto another topic, how was the progress with the investigation?"Michio asked.

"So far, I am still looking into it. I heard he was hospitalized again, so I am having problems trying to locate the hospital he is in. I'll try to locate him again later after school."Takuma shrugs, "But beyond this, I am really worried if Junko finds anything about us to the police ahead of us. I mean...did you guys see how sharp she was able to tell that we had a break-in?"

"What is there to fear of her? There is nothing else to tell them since we have nothing to hide." said Emiko with a smug face, before she handed some files from her rondesu bag, "By the way, here is the intel you asked me to look into."

"Thanks, "Ranran grins as she accepted it from Emiko before reading its contents.

"Considering we still have tons of work left, for today's meeting, We have to find out why Watanabe-san was so important to the people who took him. What kind of robbery are they planning?"Shinichi announced this to everyone, as Ranran switches on the song playing out on the radio, drowning Junko's words.

"Majima, did you dig out the information I asked you to look into?"Ranran directed her attention to Michio.

"I did."Michio nodded before digging out a pile of papers and began handing out a list of every jewellery, bank, and pawnshops he could think of."Based on the news clippings Ran sent over...I tried narrowing down the locations he is very likely instructed to strike."

"Likely?"Shinichi frowns, "This ain't guessing time."

"No, it ain't mere guess. It's more of returning to familiar areas and robbing it at ease."Shinichi raises his eyebrow as Michio explained, "We all know he had been an experienced robber, deshou?"Everyone nodded to him, "I was thinking...if I were Echis and I expect him to do my 'payment', I might want someone who is experienced in a location of my interest, somewhere he may have robbed before. Of course, there is a chance the choice of location might be wrong. So I added that into another list as well."

"You might be right..."Takuma fell into deep thought, "There are criminals that return to the scene of the crime after all."

"Even so, I have a problem with this theory."Shinichi shook his head and said it out loud, "This sounds too obvious."

"What do you mean? Majima's theory would make sense."Ran argued.

"Echis has men who are better qualified, not to mention, younger and more nimble in their robbery heists."

"And how do you know that? As far as Sonoko and I had read through, I found no files reporting about his crimes."Ran narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

"I have my ways, that's all."He scratches his head nervously.

The truth to the matter was, thanks to Ranran's days as the Fox, she was able to gain access to Echis's criminal records. According to Ranran, he not only had men on his payroll, but he was also even able to get high-profile criminals with abilities that are in her words: young, nimble, organized, fast, and efficient than Watanabe in her own words. Of course, he can't say that as that would mean exposing Ranran as The Fox.

"Anyway, he could have hired anyone rather than go through the tribulations of breaking a jailbird out to obtain whatever it is he wants to steal."Shinichi hopped out of his seat as he paced up and down."So why? Why break him out of prison knowing that it will gain the cops' attention just to break a safe where you could have hired someone who isn't from jail, won't gain attention from the cops to commit the crime?"

Takuma lazily leans behind his chair, "I mean Kudo has a point! Would I want to go through all that trouble just to take something?"

"I mean it doesn't necessarily need to be that complicated," suggested Emiko.

"What do you mean?"

"We all know that he is 'The man with Golden finger', a reputation of stealing something before anyone could realize that it was missing. By the time anyone found out, you won't even know he had managed to break into your safe. Perhaps that is what Echis is after: doing a robbery that won't trigger anyone till the very last minute."

It was Michio's turn for his eyes to light up"Exactly! They need him because he is the best of the best when it comes to that!"

Emiko frowned."But what is it so important that he had to break Watanabe out of prison." she was flipping her pencil on her notepad.

"I had an idea," Takuma offers, "What if somebody wanted him to put something into the safe?"

"That doesn't make any sense," grumbled Michio.

Emiko snaps her fingers, "Actually Takuma has a point! What if they want to steal something valuable and replace it with a fake? "

"Wait, I have a better suggestion."Ran snapped her finger, "What if they want to make a copy of something in a safe and then put it back without anyone knowing?"

Shinichi lean against the tilted chair as his face became thoughtful "If that is the case, it will make our job a lot harder, we will have to work it out why someone wants him to open it incognito style. "

Silence fell into the room as everyone thought about his remark."Alright, "Ranran put down her pencil, "I been listening to all of your opinions regarding the motive behind his jailbreak, the one thing they have in common is what are they eager to steal to resort to this."

"Eh?"All the members, including Shinichi, turned to look at her.

"Think about it, time ain't your friend when one commits burglary."Ranran explains, "For an experienced criminal willing to risk it by jailbreaking him can only mean one thing. Whatever it is, they are probably running out of time to get it. Question is...what?"

"Is it possible that this thing they are going after will be available for a limited time? Plus the possibility the item could be exotic and rare?"Shinichi questioned her and she nodded, "you may have a point. Alright then," he repositioned himself before making the announcement, "Tomorrow after school if Hikari's situation with Watanabe's friend goes well, I want all of your opinions on what is worth breaking Watanabe out of prison."

"Why can't we do it today?"Emiko tilted her head.

"Well, the entire school is to expect tons of homework on our plate today."

"And you know this because...?"Ran prompted him to answer.

"Ranran says so," Shinichi then lets out a long sigh of despair as he tugs his hair in frustration, "I wonder how someone like her is capable of finding the dirt of literally anything."He glares at Ranran as she shrugs without care.

Then out of the blue, Takuma recalled, "Hey, you guys notice Junko is no longer screaming anymore, huh?"

Realizing this, Ranran jumped out of her seat to rush and switch off the radio, not before opening the curtains a little to take a peep whether she is still there waiting in front of the door. Much to her relief, she is no longer around. That meant the detention plan finally work."She is no longer around."

The kids led a loud a long breath of relief. However, Takuma is still worried, "Even so, she is likely to follow us tomorrow, hell, any day of the time! If we don't do something about it, we won't be able to investigate at peace!"

"You said you already had a plan to get rid of her standing in the way of our investigation, right? What is the plan?"Shinichi questioned his partner-in-crime.

"Well, this may take a while."As she stood up, looking everyone in the eye, she goes, "Guys, want to come to a cafe with me for lunch? After school today?"

"Eh?"The kids stare back at the girl's unusual invitation.

.....

Even so, they would soon realize their choice of the cafe is questionable.

"Ranran, of all places...why a cat cafe!?"Shinichi asks with perplexed confusion as he ate his meal, following which a cat hopped onto the table before walking past them.

The Yuki Ice cream Neko cafe was a strange cat cafe unlike any other. Though it is small and cramped, the cats were all different kinds, and all of them seemed to be staring at the humans with their curious eyes. The smell of hot coffee was strong in the air, and the atmosphere was quite strange. The interior was charming and comfortable, with tones of pink and purple. The cafe was a great place to escape the bustle of the city as it has a dreamy-like interior.

"Finish up your lunch, cause later I am going to take all of you to pay a visit."Ranran sipped juice.

"A visit? Who are we meeting?"

"Pumpkin and Cinamon."

"What an unusual name..."Shinichi can't help but think, "Especially in Japan-"

"NO NO NO! Don't you dare!"Ran's unexpected words halted their conversation, as they turned to see Ran swiping away what appeared to be the paw of a fat orange tabby cat as it meowed, reaching its paw onto a cupcake Ran recently purchase for herself as they were having lunch."How many times have I said you can't eat my cupcake!? You are only allowed to eat the food of your kind, not human food! What part of a cat do you not understand!?"

"Meeeeeooooowww!"

"Mouri, they are cats. Cats can't be reasoned."Emiko commented.

"Exactly! Cats are-Aah choo! Aah choo!" Michio couldn't stop sneezing since arriving at the cafe.

"Hey, cat! Stop it!" "Meow!"

"Just give him the cupcake, Mouri."Takuma sighs watching the interaction between the cat and Ran, it was amusing, to say the least."I read that this cup-cake itself is cat friendly."

"But I paid for it! Also, can't you tell how fat this cat is already!?"

"MEEEwr!!!!"

"Aaaaah!!! Why is it more aggressive than ever!? Stop it, cat!"Ran tries to push the cat out of their table, but it was surprisingly able to evade her.

"The cat's name is Peaches, it has a name you know?"Ranran pouted at Ran.

"Wait, how do you know its name?"Emiko wonders as Michio's sneezing kept on persisting.

"I was the one who introduce Peaches here, "Ranran explained as she studies Peaches body language to be slightly on the aggressive side towards Ran, "I know of someone who use to run a restaurant for a living here when my mother force me to do work for them during my younger days, which is food delivery. This cat used to often steal fish from us, along with the other food business nearby. So I trained it to do my job while I get paid."

"You did what!?"Shinichi was flabbergasted by her actions, at the same time, he realizes, "But cats can't be trained unlike dogs do!"

"This one is different, it loves food so much...it is willing to learn anything. Watch this, Peaches, handshake?"Ranran tapped the cat from the back, offering her hand as much, to everyone's astonishment, offering its right paw to her as she shakes, "Good job here is your reward."Taking a piece of fish from her dish in her hand, she gave it and Peaches ate it while it purrs."You see what I mean?"

"But I doubt the cat would know which place to deliver, right?"Takuma observes Peaches in awe.

"It does, it took a couple of buttons and cat treats to get it done. It gets rewarded with treats from every shop that uses the service I came up with."Ranran sighs, "However, Okaasan later found out about this and send it to live here. Even scolded me, said I was exploiting the cat as it is doing most of the job while I was getting paid."

"Well yeah! You are leaving the cat to do your job while you were getting paid to do nothing!"Shinichi pointed out.

"Technically I was doing something, training the cat to do it for me. It gets paid with food rather than being put in some shelter home where it may end up getting euthanized, I get paid training it and made double the profit!"She replied nonchalantly before turning to Ran, "Anyway, Peaches is the no.1 most popular cat in this cafe since I brought it here, so the cafe treats him like a king. It tends to approach new customers for some reason."

"Why does it do that?"Takuma stares at Peaches cleaning up itself after eating the fish.

"No clue, "Ranran shrugs, "However, in this cafe, the staff said it has 'The Peaches way', either you feed it or it will keep pestering you till no end."

"As if I will give in because of this overweight-"

Ranran shakes her head at Ran, "I wouldn't say that if I were you."

"Huh?"

"It doesn't like being called a fat cat, so I refer to it as furry."

"Hah!? Wow, this cat is that ignorant!? Oh ho ho," Ran laughs in a mocking expression towards Peaches, who then set its sight on the cupcake, "No way I am going to say that this overweight cat is furry, its fat fat fat!" Twitching its ears to the back as if it understood it was being insulted, Peaches hisses at her before stealing her cupcake and jumping off the table."Aaaaah no! My cupcake!"Her hand reaches for the escaped cat, as she jumps out of her seat to chase after the feline in anger, "Give it back you fat cat! I paid for this!"Soon, the spectacle of Ran chasing after the feline has become the centre of attention while customers and the other kids watched in amusement."Bad kitty! Get back here!"

"Well, Ranran did warn her."Takuma leans his head to his right fist lazily.

Meanwhile, Michio could not stop sneezing, "Are you sure you don't want to see a doctor?"Emiko asks out of concern."You seem to have a cold."

"I am alright," he reassures her while sneezing, "I am allergic to furry animals. Achoo!"

"Alright, now that all of this is said and done, you guys are going to meet Pumpkin and Muffin."

"Who?"Emiko and the others turned to Ranran.

"You guys will meet them soon enough."

.........

"Ranran, I don't think this is a good idea."

Shinichi protests against Ranran while she and the gang stood outside this high guarded mansion, where the sound of loud barking noises can be heard behind the gate as it was rattled violently by Pumpkin and Cinamon, a pair of Doberman. He stood back a little away from the gate while his eyes winced a little from the barking noise.

"Yeah Ranran, of all ideas, this is not ethical!" Ran protest alongside him.

"Ranran, I admit that desperate times require drastic measures, but this is beyond the line of what we- aah choo! Aah chooo!!"Michio kept sneezing nonstop.

"Stop sneezing!"Emiko frowned at Michio.

"I am allergic to animals! What do you expect!?"

"Ranran, those hounds are beyond uncontrollable! I mean, look at those fangs! So sharp!"Takuma winced in fear and jumped in horror, as the two fierce hostile Doberman dogs were barking madly at the children, who, fortunately, were at the other side of the gate.

The two dogs were owned by some elderly rich grumpy retiree, who hates children prowling around the area, hence, the purchase of these two Doberman. Now Shinichi and Ran were very against this as they are both animal lovers, so it is no surprise why they were against the idea. Even Michio was against the idea, despite being allergic to dogs. Emiko wasn't against the idea, since she isn't, particularly into animals, then again, the idea of a dog tearing you to shred ain't a pretty sight. Meanwhile, Takuma is imagining the terror one is gonna face if they were ever released.

"Put it this way, it is for the sake of the investigation. I think we should go with Ranran's plan."Takuma pointed it out while heads turned to his direction in horror, "cause look at it this way," He explains while adjusting his red cap, "Between the life of one unlikable person versus many innocent lives, it ain't hard to decide who to sacrifice for the greater cause."

"See? Even Takuma gets it!"

Ranran didn't give a care in the world of their protesting views while the barking sounds grew louder in the background, as she turned her head to see the two barking Dobermans."What if those two dogs get euthanized because of you!?"Shinichi pointed out.

"It won't, I will make sure of this."Ranran insists.

"What if you fail?"Emiko asks.

"Then at least this world has 2 less dangerous dogs and one unlikable girl removed, making the world easier to breathe. It's justice no matter which route you pick."Ranran justifies.

"Justice doesn't need to be this cruel, Ranran!"Ran argues.

"Listen, if we don't, which one of you are going to bear the responsibility towards the future victims on why didn't we do a thing, thanks to one unlikable person's interference?"

His eyes grew big again as Ranran manages to get through him, before Shinichi finally answered, "Ranran is right."He sighs reluctantly.

"Shinichi?"Ran, Michio, and Emiko turn their heads in shock."You can't be seriously on board with this lunatic idea!?"

"Look, I ain't saying she is right, but I already hate the idea that our investigation is taken over by incapable officers, let alone, in the worst-case scenario, involving more innocent people from getting hurt! I mean let's face it, do you all guys want to live with the guilt the same way Spiderman did with his uncle? Except in this situation, is uncles, aunts, moms, dads kids alike caught in the middle?"Shinichi expressed his worried thoughts to their members.

The other kids had uncertain expressions about this. Even Emiko said, "I agree, even if it fails...at least Majima and the rest of us won't have to constantly suffer under such unreasonable girl in the future to come, let alone, fear of dangerous dogs."

"I can't believe you guys...you are all justifying murder using animals!"Ran blasted at all of them.

"Unless you guys can offer better solutions besides this, then spit it out, "Ranran demanded from them in a serious tone to their members, and as expected, neither could come up with better solutions."It's like the trolley situation, your train is out of control and you are stuck with two tracks. One with more people and the other with one person, you got to pick either track and it's already too late to build a track to avoid this."

"Can't you just call her mom or dad?"Ran suggest.

"Fuyuko is capable of convincing Majima's mom to overturn his decision, do you not think she is capable of doing the same to her own mom? Let's not forget this is the same girl who convinces those idiot staff in our school to hand the keys to our other association in school."Ran couldn't rebut Ranran's words."Also, between her own daughter and us, who do you think she would believe between us over her?"

This justification made Michio, Emiko, and Ran looked at each other in hesitance while Ranran, Takuma, and Shinichi just gave them a long look before the three members look at Ranran in the eye."Can you promise us that those dogs won't be able to kill a person?"Ran questioned the girl.

"Of course."Ranran folded her arms at her with a smirk.

"I guess.....it won't hurt that Junko gets chased by a dog. Also, I need Suzuki out of that mess, fast."Ran tells herself out loud.

"You know what? I am in on this."Emiko nods without hesitation as she turns to Michio, "Majima?"

"I don't like the idea of this, using two innocent dogs....but we got to do with what we got."

"That is the spirit," the red lip girl formed an enthusiastic smile on her face before she got them to gather around her and discuss her plan.
