"Get up." I'm shoved off my mattress into the floor before I can react.

"What the hell?" I grumble, glaring up at Derek just standing there.

"I've been hollering your name for ten minutes now." He looks at me impatiently.

"Yeah, I was sleeping, which I'd like to get back to now." I pull the comforter over my head before it's completely yanked off.

"Okay, that's more than I needed to see." He grumbles, rearing back.

"What, you don't sleep naked?" I smirk.

He stares at me for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Just get up. We have a problem."

I run my hands over my face. It's too early for this shit. "What, they find Laura? Well, what's left of her."

"Don't be an ass. No." He snaps before turning his head away. "Put some clothes on."

I groan, grabbing a pair of sweatpants off the ground. "Well, out with it."

"Someone was bit last night."

"What?" I snap my head up. The alpha we've been chasing since we got back is turning people now? Great, fuck! I knew it wouldn't be long. Whoever it was, that killed Laura, of course wouldn't want to run around without a pack, it'd be stupid to.

"Yep. He's making his pack." Derek sighs, sharing my thoughts.

"Well, who was it?" Whoever it was, we need to get to them before he does. Now.

"I don't know." Derek shrugs.

"Then how the hell are we supposed to find them?" I groan frustrated. I didn't want to come back here. I didn't want to deal with this shit. And I sure hell don't want to have to find some clueless newbie and fuck with that too.

Derek chuckles. "Don't worry, he'll come to us." He reaches into his pocket and tosses something at me.

I catch... whatever this is. Hmm. It's small and plastic. "The fuck is this?"

"It's an inhaler you idiot." He says flatly. I roll my eyes and toss is back.

"Maybe the bite won't take and we'll have one less problem on our hands." I say, heading out to go for a run.

"We can only hope." Derek mutters. I can feel his stress about this beta already.

Great. As if we didn't have anything else to do.

𝙆𝙖𝙞'𝙨 𝙋𝙊𝙑

I speed through my entire morning routine to hurry and get out the door so Stiles and I can get to school and find Scott. He texted us that he got bit by something last night so we're eager to see.

"There he is." I nudge Stiles, spotting Scott leaving the bike rack. We hurry over and step to the side of the crowd of everyone arriving or meeting up with friends.

"Okay, let's see this thing." Stiles urges. Scott lifts up his shirt and reveals a giant gauze bandage covering half his torso. Oh, ew, that's huge!

"Ooh!" Stiles jumps back for a moment, filling it out. "Woah."

"Holy shit!" My eyes widen. I thought he meant just a small bite by like from rabbit or a badger or something. "What the hell did that?!"

He pulls his shirt back down. "It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf." He says, picking his bag back up, and we start slowly moving towards the building.

"A wolf bit you?" Stiles turns to me and I smirk knowingly.

"Uh-huh." Scott confirms.

"Sureee it did, Scottie." I pat his shoulder.

"No, not a chance." Stiles backs me up.

"I heard a wolf howling." Scott shrugs. No way. Maybe he hit his head? He did say he fell and rolled down a hill, which I laughed at, after making sure he didn't break something!

"No, you didn't." Stiles repeats.

I point my thumb at him nodding in agreement. "Yep, I'm with Stiles. Could've been a dog."

Scott chuckles. "What do you mean "No, I didn't"? How would you two know what I heard?"

"Because California doesn't have wolves, okay?" Stiles laughs. "Not in like sixty years."

"Really?"

"Yes, really." Stiles stops, looking fully serious. "There are no wolves in California."

"Yeah, animal lover, shouldn't you know this?" I look at Scott amusedly. He's been volunteering at the vet since we started high school, you'd think he'd know a little beyond cats and dogs.

He shakes his head. "All right, well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me about when I tell you I found the body."

"What!" I gasp. No way. "No fair!" I

Stiles jumps. "Are you kidding me?"

"Why didn't you start that!" I shove him lightly.

"No, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month." Scott says.

I groan. "Ugh, why did we have to get caughtttt."

"Oh, God, that is freakin' awesome." Stiles rocks on his feet. "I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since... Since the birth of Lydia Martin." He trails off, turning to the strawberry blonde walking past us. "Hey, Lydia, you look... like you're gonna ignore me."

"Ugh, Stiles." I shake my head at him. He's had a crush on Lydia for years now. And she's never given him the time of day once, not even acknowledge his existence. She's been... pretty nice to me before when we've had classes together so I guess I don't really have anything against her, but I think Stiles should give up and move on, for his sake and my sanity.

"He's the cause of this!" Stiles points to Scott. "You're the cause of this you know."

"Uh-huh." Scott nods.

"Draggin' me down in your nerd depths. Bringing Kai down along with us."

"Uh-huh." Scott just goes along with it.

"I'm a nerd by association." He complains.

Scott and I grin at each other.

"Kai could be long gone without us." He continues.

I snort. "Oh please." With my nerd knowledge and big mouth? No way.

"We've been scarlet nerded by you." He ends with a pout.

"I like being stuck with you nerds." I wrap my arms around their shoulders.

"Yeah, and Kai is the nerdiest one out of all three of us." Scott says.

"That is so not true, we take turns." I push them forward.

"You own more comics than both of us combined." Scott points out.

"Proudly, thank you." I hum as we enter the building.

"As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night." Our teacher begins as he writes on the board. Scott turns to Stiles and I. Stiles winks as I smirk and all three of us crack up quietly to ourselves. "And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened."

Already wayyy ahead of you, sir.

He continues. "But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody-"

Wait what??!! I fly forward across my desk to Stiles as Scott turns to us again. Stiles furrows his eyebrows, holding up his hands innocently as I shake my head. This is the first we've heard about a suspect, which only makes my brain move a hundred miles an hour trying to think of who it could possibly be.

"Which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester." I sigh as I'm brought back to boring high school reality.

I grab mine off the floor as everyone starts to open theirs when I notice Scott jump before scanning the room looking confused. Huh, weird...

I flip through the papers not even bothering to read most of it and start doodling on the sides, this class was a breeze last semester, when the door opens and our principal enters with some girl I've never seen before. Ooo, she's pretty.

"Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent." He introduces. Ah, makes sense. "Please do your best to make her feel welcome." As he leaves she ducks her head down going to take a seat behind Scott. He turns around holding out a pen for her, aww cute!

Why can't there be any new hot guys that come to this school?

"We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphosis, on page 133."

He never gives us anything good to read. I drop my head down to my desk, this is going to be the most boring semester ever.

Hmm, maybe Allison will be interesting. I don't really have anyone else to talk to around here other than Scott and Stiles, and trust me they're enough. It's always just been the three of us ever since we were children so I haven't really bothered to branch out over the years. But who knows what the rest of the school year could bring? Maybe this won't be so boring after all.
