28. Let Hyung Do It

Hyung? When are you coming?

Jungkook waited for a specific amount of time he usually did, but then his patience wore thin so he texted Jimin.

Do you want to study in a cafe?

Jungkook stared at the screen in confusion. He loved studying in Jimin's room where he could eat good food made by Mrs. Park, snoop around the room to find Jimin's stuff and annoy him, lay down on his comfortable bed, or bicker with him in privacy.

Okay... :(

Why the sad face?

I love your bed.

Jungkook-ah! Don't show me this face, It's not good for my health.

Jungkook blushed a little as he smiled at the screen.

I am waiting for you Hyungie...come soon.

Jimin smiled fondly at the way Hyungie was written cutely and quickly zipped up his bag before running out of the house. He drove towards Jungkook's place and after picking him up, and they made way to the cafe happily, the same cafe where Jimin usually hung out with Jin and Hoseok.

"Why aren't we studying at your house?" Jungkook assumed as much that it might have something to do with Mr. Park.

"I don't like my parents, and they have decided to stay home in my vacation when they travel all year long. They had to fuck up my break." There was fierceness and anger in Jimin's words and Jungkook wanted to interject and tell him that he shouldn't talk about his parents in such a way, but he knew nothing about their equation so he decided to shut up. Moreover, Jimin's anger was something he didn't want to see again.

"Hyung, are you hungry?" Jungkook suddenly confused Jimin with the change of topic and the older forgot about his thoughts and chuckled softly.

"No," he said purposefully. "Are you?"

Jungkook nodded. "I get hungry when I am nervous."

"I figured."

"How?" Jungkook asked dumbfoundedly.

Jimin pulled the car over when they arrived at the cafe, and he began to check his phone. Jungkook wanted the attention and the answer to his question, but checking his phone was apparently more important to Jimin. "Trying to see whom I am texting?" Jimin locked his phone's screen as he caught the boy's eyes trying to peek, and Jungkook got all flustered.

"No," he quickly turned around and touched his nose.

Jimin smirked to himself before Jungkook heard the boy open the door to get out. He followed quickly after grabbing his bag. Jimin walked leisurely, taking in the sun as much as he could while he flexed his muscles and then stretched his arms only to release a contented sigh. "Winters seem so good."

"I love summers," Jungkook stated while playing with the sole of his own shoes by tapping them lightly against the ground.

Jimin looked at him. "What exactly do you like about summers?"

"I can eat as much ice cream as I want. I hate getting loaded with layers and summers allow me to just be myself, wear a loose shirt, or not wear any shirt at all. AC is a bliss, citrus fruits, summer vegetables, everything about summer is bright and vibrant. Winters are gloomy and dull."

"You got one thing right." Jimin averted his gaze straight and entered through the door to find an almost empty cafe.

They grabbed a table, sitting across each other. Jimin kept staring at Jungkook's beautiful red nose. "Are you cold, Jungkook-ah?"

"Why? Will you offer me your jacket if I said yes?" Jungkook pouted, taking out his books.

"Yeah, after I scold you that you should have covered yourself better."

Jungkook looked up and graciously smiled at the older who was looking at him like he needed to learn the layout of his features. "You are not that bad for someone who gets too angry too quick."

"I can be the sweetest person for the people I adore," Jimin replied with a romantic lilt, his voice just a tad scratchy. Jungkook looked down and batted his lashes while the red only intensified on his face. "What do you want to eat?" Jimin suddenly declined back on his chair.

"Oh," Jungkook's eyes directed at the menu kept on the table. "Do you want to have brownies and a choco puff?"

Jimin chuckled. "I am not hungry. You can order what you want."

"Okay," Jungkook stood to go to the counter to place the order.

Jimin held his wrist and made the boy sit beside him on the chair adjacent to him. "Tell me what do you want? I will do it."

"I can place my own order, Hyung." Jungkook giggled.

"I know you can, you are a big boy. Aren't you?" Jimin's eyes moved from Jungkook's eyes to his lips before he cleared his throat and looked back into his eyes. "But let Hyung do it for you." His hand raked through his own hair.

**

The boy sat silently and blinked his eyes. His skin felt the warmth of the sun straining through the glass partitions when Jimin returned with two hot brownies dribbled with chocolate syrup. "They are bringing the rest of your food."

Jungkook was happy. No, he was the happiest. He wanted to spend as much time with Jimin as possible and their relationship got a lot better. Having no worry about the future, Jungkook lived every day. He looked forward to new mornings now because he knew that he'd meet Jimin every day. He went to sleep all giddy and dreamt about Jimin almost every night.

"I won't be able to study tomorrow," just as Jimin informed the boy, Jungkook looked up from the brownie to him. "I have to do some shopping and then go meet my cousin. You should study and we will exchange notes, hm?"

"Mm..." Jungkook's face turned grim as though he would burst out crying all of the sudden.

"You okay?" Jimin asked, a soft chuckle leaving his mouth while his shining eyes observed the boy's actions.

"Yeah, I am good."

Jungkook sniffled and blinked. He really wanted to spend tomorrow with Jimin.

**

Jungkook's door was knocked and he got out to see his father and he immediately hugged him. "Happy 17th birthday, Kookie."

"Thank you. Did you come back for my birthday?" He asked his father who has been on an abroad travel.

"Of course, how could I miss my baby's big day?" Mr. Jeon handed him a sleek box wrapped in red paper when Mrs. Jeon stalked towards them with a cake. The parents sang the birthday song and Jungkook made a wish before cutting the cake.

"iPad!" Jungkook's smile multiplied two folds and he jumped on his father again, hugging him and just staying there in his arms after he unwrapped his gift.

"Where is my gift from you, momma?" The boy pouted.

"I didn't know what else you wanted, son. We will go and buy anything you want tomorrow."

"A car?" Jungkook asked, knowing that the answer would be no, but he still had to try.

"Not yet, maybe on your next birthday." Mrs. Jeon fed him another piece of cake.

**

It was past midnight and after sitting with their son for a few minutes, Mr. & Mrs. Jeon left Jungkook's room to let him sleep.

"Should we throw a surprise party?" Mrs. Jeon dubiously asked her husband.

"I don't think he will like it. He is growing up and he doesn't need his friends at home to enjoy his birthday. Better if we do it outside and send him there." Mr. Jeon suggested, keeping distance in case his cute wife recoiled and attacked him.

"Don't say that. He is just turning seventeen."

"Sweety," Mr. Jeon recognized the complaining tone and he hugged her. "He is not a kid." He assured again.

They slept shortly after, but Jungkook couldn't. He played with his phone. He knew Jimin said he was busy in the morning, but he still wondered if he should ask him to come to see him for perhaps a few minutes.

With fidgeting hands, he texted the boy.

Asleep?

Not yet.

If I ask you to come to see me tomorrow, will you do it?

Nopie

HYUUUUUNNNNNNGGGGG!

Haha... I will cancel all my plans if you want to meet me.

Jungkook thought momentarily. He had no good excuse to make. It felt too cringy to tell Jimin that it was his birthday. Moreover, he knew that like every year, his parents would arrange a small celebration where they'd go and eat outside, spend some quality family time. Also, his mother was going to take him out shopping for his birthday gift.

No, I don't want to meet you.

Then why did you text me?

Just because

Just because? It's late and why are you still up? Babies should sleep early.

I am not a baby.

Says who? You are my baby.

Jimin couldn't help the smile and he loved how the boy was receptive to his flirting, but he didn't get any response so he assumed Jungkook had slept. After waiting for some more time, he slept as well, looking forward to ending the day so he could meet Jungkook again the day after.
