Cheeky Start
Chapter: 1
It was like every other morning, waking up in your bed, dealing with the yellow light of the sun stabbing through your windows and into your bedroom. It almost felt like a fairytale every time you woke up. That fairytale was quickly shattered at the sight of your best friend who laid beside you, sprawled out like a starfish. "Ugh, Ronnie, you really need to get yourself in check." You yawned, lazily nudging the pale man to the side.
Now, this isn't what you think. You and Ronnie never took that leap in your friendship, mainly the both of you knowing it would just never work. Then complicate the type of brother and sister bond you two had established since you were thirteen. Shuffling your way to your bathroom, you scratched at your dry throat and back before flicking on the light switch.
A whine escaped you as your eyes squinted from the white bright lights. After a short minute of adjusting to the lights, you looked yourself in the mirror to be rather surprised. You didn't look that bad, mainly because you cleaned your face and slept early. Lazily, you stretched out your arm to take hold of your toothbrush and toothpaste tube that laid on the sink counter.
You brushed your teeth and gargled your mouthwash before leaving your bathroom, to find your bed empty. "Guess I can shower." You said aloud stepping back into your bathroom to get your day started. Even though nearly every day started like this, it felt different somehow. You shrugged it off and carried on with your morning.
Stepping out of your bathroom and walking in front of your dresser, you caught a clear view of your naked figure. Seeing your right thigh covered in beautiful floral dragon and snake art, a few blossoms reaching up to your hip. The blossoms went along with the few on the back of your hand, that clashed perfectly with the lilies.
Back to your main task at hand, you searched for what you could wear for such a nerve-racking day. You found yourself an all-white off-shoulder ruched lantern sleeve blouse with blue waist-fitted jeans and white thigh-high boots.
Today you had a job interview after your last job burned itself to the ground. The restaurant you worked for was shut down due to health code violations. It wasn't a shock to you, the place was pure shit. You had to apologize for every meal that was served.
"Y/nnnnnn!!" Ronnie called as he peaked his head into your room, to find you sitting in bed with your laptop comfortably in your lap. "Yeeees?" You answered. "I have no idea how to cook so do you want French toast or cereal?" He asked. You let out a chuckle and a shrug. "You pour the milk before the cereal so no to that." You grinned. "Hey, it's still cereal at the end of the day!" The pale goth claimed. "It's an abomination, case closed. But I'm not hungry, had a big dinner." You told him.
"Mhm, I'll believe that. Today is your first day right?" He asked. "Eh, more like my interview. But the flyer did say, I would work on the spot, so one can only hope." You answered with a shrug as you put on a few pieces of jewelry. "When are you coming home?" He said, coming behind you to help with your necklace. "Eh, let's say ten? I feel like I have to cook for them too." You told, silently thanking him as he helped.
"Alright, might be out late, don't stay up for me." Ronnie grinned. "Don't plan on it." You chuckled, grabbing your phone from your nightstand to see it was fully charged, and that it was damn near the time for the interview. "Hey, I gotta go. I don't wanna be late." You said, tucking your phone in your pocket whilst grabbing your keys. "Alright, stay safe." Ronnie hollered. "Stay clean!" You replied as you rushed down to the front door and out to your car.
Swiftly getting into the car and starting it, you were on your way to your interview. "Kong Studios, approaching to the left..." The robotic voice of your car GPS informed. "Ha, this place looks like home!" You grinned, driving through the open gate and up the dead road. Whilst driving, you looked out the window, smirking at all the gravestones and leafless trees around.
Once you felt as if you were close enough to the large building, you parked your car and made your way out. The minute you stepped out of your car, your face scrunched up in disgust at the smell that swamped the place. "Shit- bodies are actually buried here?" You gaged, pinching your nose for a brief moment before pushing through it. "You've lived with seven men your whole life, you've smelt worse.." You huffed, making your way to the large double doors.
Before pounding on the doors, you noticed the intercom. It was a bit out of shape but looked functional. You pressed the round button just to hear static then the sound of someone clearing their throat. "What? What is it?" The voice asked over the static. "Uhm, I'm here for the interview, to be the new maid or uhm..housekeeper? Is this Mr. Nicc-"
"Oh, right, forgot you were coming, give me a minute- OI FACE-" and with that, the static and the voice cut off, leaving you in silence. "Uhm..okay then." You shrugged, just as one of the doors opened to reveal a lanky and extremely tall gentleman with blue spiky hair. He definitely went over six feet, but that wasn't a shock to you, it was his eyes. They were pitch black voids, but they complimented him greatly.
"You're the new maid, yeah?" He asked. "Heh, not yet, but I hope so! I'm Y/n." You introduced, holding your hand out to him with a smile. He returned a smile himself, showing his misshaped teeth. His hand was dead cold once it grabbed hold of yours, nearly made you jump. "'m 2D! Come in." He pipped. Ain't he just the sweetest, you thought to yourself as you stepped inside, already seeing the mess ahead of you. "Ain't you a looker." A familiar voice said.
You and 2D turned to find a man shirtless, hoisting up his pants and tightening his zipper. His skin was damn near close to being green, from what, you don't know. Thick sweat-damped hair, two different colored eyes with yellow tainted sclera, and shark tooth teeth that were somewhat the same color. He definitely made an impression on you.
"Welcome to Kong Studios, Murdoc Niccals." He said, holding out his with crisp white nails, just one painted red. That color choice was something you were familiar with. You shook his hand, with a smile of your own. "Y/n Valentine, pleasure to meet you."
You were pulled to the green man's side, his arm going over your shoulders. "Let's get on the interview, shall we? Sod off somewhere will ya, dents?" He said, waving off 2D, before walking ahead with you. You turned back to 2D with a small smile, that flipped over the frown he had before he was out of sight.
Murdoc brought you to what looked to be the living room but was definitely not a living place on a daily basis with all the mess. "So, tell me. What makes you wanna work here of all shit holes?" He questioned, sitting upon the couch, kicking his up on the coffee table.
"Well, the obvious reason being that I don't have a job." You started. "Cheeky girl you are. You think you can handle cleaning a place like this?" He asked. You looked around the room and answered. "It will of course take time, but I believe I can Mr. Niccals. Just give me the day." You answered. His lips curled into a grin as he pushed his arms back on the couch.
His eyes were like darts while you were the dartboard. Making bullseye after bullseye after every blink. His smirk practically grew just from the view he had of you. Didn't take a genius to notice he was checking you out. Just as you were about to speak, he started.
"Alright then, the job is yours, you can start today."
