Chapter 47: Confession

Confused, I went back inside the headquarters. Di ko alam kung anong nangyari kay Gray at mukhang malungkot pero hindi ko na siya sinundan. He probably doesn't want to anyways. The least thing I can do is to give him space.

Tamang tamang pagka pasok ko ay siyang pagbaba ni Shaun kasama si Nathalie.

It seems like Nathalie was talking to him but Shaun's eyes went directly to me. He was stunned when we met our gaze which gave me a panic. Is there something on my face?

I tried to composed myself. Wala namang atang dumi sa mukha ko at saka sinuot ka naman ung binigay niya pero bat kung makatitig parang nakakita ng multo.

He whispered something to Nathalie which made her frown. Mabilis siyang tumingin sa akin at binigyan ako ng masamang tingin pero umirap lang ito at naglakad papuntang dining area.

Shaun, without breaking the gaze, slowly walks towards me. I didn't know what to do so I just stood there until he stopped a few inches away from me.

He gave me a soft smile and suddenly caressed my cheeks. It was the first thing that I saw him smiled so gently. I honestly didn't know that he is capable of smiling this sincere. Palagi nalang kasi siyang walang expresion o nakasimangot na tila pinagsuklaban ng langit at lupa araw araw.

"You look stunning."

Napapikit ako nang hawakan niya ang aking buhok. I can't explain what I am feeling. I wanna scold my heart to stop beating but it just kept going faster. I've never felt this way before.

Muli kong binuksan ang aking mata. Nagtama ang aming tingin at mas lumapit ang kaniyang mukha.

I wanna punch myself on why I am just standing here not uttering a single word. My heart is beating so fast and I don't know what to do. Masyadong malapit ang kaniyang mukha.

I shookt my head and tried to compose myself. Get a hold of yourself, Keira. This is so unlike you.

"Thanks for the gift by the way. Di kana dapat nagabala pa."

Tumaas ang kaniyang kilay pero hindi ito sumagot. I don't know what's going on in his mind but I can't seem to read it. He really is a mysterious man.

Tumingin siya sa kusina bago binalik ang tingin sa akin."Won't you come with me to the kitchen?"

Napakunot ang noo ko. "Why?"

Ilang segundo siyang di sumagot at pasimpleng tinignan ang mga myembro ng student council na nagsasaya. He then looked back at me and gave me a smirk.

"I prepared something for you there. We can't tell the others." aniya.

I wanna slap my face on how I think he's so attractive while smirking at me like that.

For the second time I asked him why. This guy really loves making me question him.

He clicked his tongue."It's a suprise. Come."

He didn't even let me talk and just dragged me immediately towards the kitchen. Muli kong tinignan ang mga myembro ng Student Council sa huling pagkakataon ngunit ganoon pa rin. Masaya silang umiinom at nag uusap na tila di nila pansin ang pag alis namin

I tried looking for Yugen once again but I think she's still busy talking with Niell.

Naging tahimik nang makadating kami sa kusina. Tanging ingay lamang nang aircon ang akin nadidinig. Shaun stopped walking but he still didn't let go of my hand.

Wala siyang imik at sa aking gulat ay bigla na lamang niya akong binuhat at pinaupo sa kitchen counter.

"Shaun!" I looked at him with disbelief but the bastard just laughed at me.

I tried to get off the counter but he stopped me.

"Stay"

Aniya bago tumalon at umupo sa aking gilid. Pagkatapos ay laking gulat ko nalang ay bigla siyang humiga sa aking hita na parang ginawa niyang unan ito.

I don't know how red my face is right now.

Ilang minuto itong pumikit at muling naging tahimik ang paligid. Maya maya ay binuksan niya ang kaniyang mga mata.

"Do you have siblings, Kira?"

Napataas ang kilay ko sa kaniyang tanong. Why would he suddenly ask that? I just shrugged and answered him.

"Yeah, I have two brothers." sagot ko.

He looked at me. "That's good. They must have been protective of you."

I nodded my head. Yes they do, although one of them is a dickhead they always make me feel safe whenever something bad happens to our family. No matter how busy kuya Kilton and kuya Kidd is, they will always visit me once I have a very risky mission. Making me remember that safety first like this like that. Even though they have told me that for hundreds of times already.

I can't help but to smile. Even though they already visited me here I still kinda miss them. The gift they give me whenever they came home from one of their missions. I miss all of them.

"Looking at your smile. They must have been great brothers to you."

Nabalik ako sa sarili nang magsalita si Shaun. He looked back at the ceiling.

"Wish I could be a great brother too."

Napakunot ang noo ko sa kaniyang sinabi.

"What do you mean by that?"

He let out a sad chuckle. His eyes turned lonely.

"I have a younger sister."

I was shocked. I never knew he has a sister. It was not written in the file that my mom gave me. That just means it must have been a secret that even the Darshall family doesn't know. What's the meaning of this?

Shaun saw my confused face.

"As you can see, we have such terrible parents. All they can think about is money and power. They only see us as a mere tool for their success..."

"... So to protect my sister I entrusted her to my most trusted person in that house. Our gardener, Gloria..."

I was just listening to him. Wala pa rin akong idea kung bakit niya ito sinasabi sa akin. Do he trust me this much to tell me the story of his life?

If so, why do I feel bothered?

Nakatingin lamang ako sa kaniyang maamong mukha habang nagkukuwento. For some reason, my hand just moved towards his hair and gently caressed it.

Shaun doesn't seem to mind it. In fact, I saw a relief in his face.

"...But unfortunately, our parents found out about it. They planned to kill Gloria for keeping it as a secret but I begged not to. As hard as I can, I even suggested that I am willing to be their tool just so my sister can get out of this..."

There was a long silence before he continued.

"...Surprisingly, they agreed. In exchange, I need to kill for them... "

He looked at me."I am not a good person, Kira. I'm a monster, a demon, whatever names there are. I was only taught to kill. All my life.... Even innocents..."

He was looking at me like he's waiting for my expression.

Shaun, you have no idea.

I remained silent. I don't what to say. In fact, I don't have the right to say anything. I am the same as you, Shaun. I have no right to comfort you as I also kill people myself.

"Shaun, I think we need to go back."

It's the only way to get out of this topic. I cannot bear to hear anything more of his life.

I tried to get of the counter but he remaind still.

He chuckled. "I thought my life will be forever like that. But guess what, I was wrong. Kira..."

Umalis siya sa pagkakahiga at umupo sa aking tabi bago ako pinaharap sa kaniya.

"Kira Monteverde, I like you."

Tumahimik ang buong kusina nang marinig ko ang mga salitang iyon. Parang bumiak ang aking puso sa sakit.

I slowly shookt my head. Sorry, Shaun. I'm sorry.

"It's okay, Kira. I don't need a answer right away. I can wait. Kaya kong maghintay."

As soon as I heard those words. A tear fell down my eyes. I can't help it. No Shaun, you don't understand. Waiting for my answer means waiting for forever.

Why are you doing this to me. Why me?

"We can't, Shaun..."

He looked at me.

"Why not? If you're thinkin that it's because a C class can't be with a S class then fuck them. Our classes doesn't have anything to do with that." he replied while trying to wipe up my tears.

Muli akong umiling. "It's not because of that, Shaun. It's not because of that."

Shaun please. Just say that you're joking so it won't be hard for me.

"Then what? Tell me."

My tears keep falling. "You don't wanna know so please let's just pretend that this didn't happen."

I don't wanna talk about this anymore. There's no point. The world will forever not gonna be favor with us.

Bumaba na ako nang kitchen counter at akmang tatalikuran siya nang pigilan niya ako.

"What do you mean by that, Kira? Is there something I should know?"

No Shaun, it's the other way around. It's a thing that you must not know.

Sasagot na sana ako nang biglang tumunog ang aking cellphone. I wiped my tears bago kinuha ang aking cellphone. There was a message.

I opened it and to my surprise. It was something I didn't expect.

From: Unknown Number

It's over, K. We already figured out your secret. If you don't want your beloved friend dead, come to to xxxx building.

Come here alone. You don't want to see her bathing with her own blood, do you?
