Chapter 36: Whatever it takes

Third Person's POV

Nagmamadaling tumakbo si Shaun papuntang parking lot. Tahimik at wala ni isang tao ang naroon. Akmang papunta na siya sa kaniyang kotse ng biglang may isang babae ang humarang sa kaniya.

Shaun looked up annoyingly. "Fuck, move!"

He stopped when he saw the other person. Principal Victoria gave him a furious look.

"What is this madness, Shaun-" naputol ang sinasabi ni Principal Victoria.

"I don't have the time to talk right now. I need to go" gigilid sana siya nang harangin ulit siya si Principal Victoria.

"Stop right there. If you move a step you'll face the consequences. Why did you stop the Red Holiday?" seryoso nitong tanong.

Shaun stopped then looked at her expressionless.

"Move" diin nitong utos sa kaniya.

Tumaas ang kilay ni Principal Victoria. "And how dare you to command me?" aniya nito.

Di siya pinansin ni Shaun at dadaanan sana siya ng hinawakan siya nito sa braso.

"If you take another step, you're going to be suspended for a week" may pagbabanta nitong saad.

Principal Victoria let out a small chuckle. "I'm sure you won't like that-"

Naputol ang sasabihin nito ng mabilis na binawi ni Shaun ang pagkakahawak sa kaniya braso at kaagad na pumasok sa kaniyang kotse bago humarurot papalabas ng Sylvian High.

Principal Victoria was left dumbfounded. "That brat..."

While driving, Shaun couldn't think of anything. Nangyari na ang kaniyang kinatatakutan. He knows there's a lot of people who are after his head. They're gonna do anything just to eliminate him. They're gonna do anything just to find his weakness. Now that they found it, they're gonna use that weakness to bring him down no matter what.

Normally, he wouldn't care. That's what he is. He won't care even if there's a dying person infront of him. Even if that person was begging for his help. He won't help them if it doesn't benefit him.

That's the life he grew up with. He was trained to be heartless. He was trained to not be swayed by his own emotions. He was trained to kill. He was trained that nothing is important more than power.

His life was going well. Thinking that that's enough. As long as he follows his family's orders, nothing else matters.

He goes to clubs. Just by him sitting, he can immediately attracts ladies. He drinks. He smokes. He's been confessed many times and he's always rejecting them. He uses women for his own satisfaction. Doesn't mind if it hurts their feelings or not.

His heart is closed to anyone that isn't part of his family and close friends. The rest are just toys for him. Playing  until he get tired of them. That's just how he is.

Not until he met that girl, Kira Monteverde. The first time he saw her, he immediately knew that she's different from them. She looks at him with no fear in her eyes. They are rather emotionless. It's like for her, he is nothing but a stranger.

That amuses him. That's the time he got interested in her. He wanna know how long she can keep her pride. He wanna know why isn't she afraid of him. He wanna know how long she can hold that pride of her.

He made her his assistant. For no particular reason, he just wanted to be closer to her. Her expessions always amuses him. He planned to make her one of his toys. Throwing her away if he ever get tired. He thought that once he losses interest in her, he'll throw her away. That's what gonna end up anyways. Or so he thought.

But days and weeks and months passed by his interest for her didn't lost. It actually became more strong that he wants to keep her for himself. He wants to protect her from people who are after him. He wants her to be safe. Making it not obvious as far as he can but look how it turned out.

No matter how he stays her away from trouble, there's always people who will want to take her away from him. By that, he blames himself.

He cannot risk to lose her. Now that he slowly understood what those nameless feelings he feels everytime he's with her. He likes her cooking foods for him. He likes her caressing his hair. He likes everything she does.

He finally have someone to protect with. He can't afford to lose her. Not when he's still alive, no one can go again him. He's not allowing that to happen.

The three hours ride almost made him crazy. He doesn't care how fast he is now. Took the shortcuts he knows just to get closer.

When he's finally at the Addison University, things seems pretty normal. Students are on their way home. He was about to go inside when a guard stopped him.

"Excuse me sir, other schools are not allowed to enter unless you have a premission from the school" ani ng guard.

Shaun is getting more annoyed. Why do these people kept meddling with him.

"Fuck your school. Let me in now or you'll regret it" aniya.

The guard looked at him. "Aba ang bastos mo ah. Mga kabataan nga naman ngayon wala ng mga respeto."

Shaun didnt care and was about to enter once again but the guard kept blocking his way.

He was about to say something again when a group of students stopped him.

"Guard, its okay. The school invited him here." ana ng lalaking nasa harapan.

Tila nataranta naman ang guard ng makita kung sino ang nagsalita. "Mr. Alois!"

The guy gave Shaun a serious look then quickly turned to the guard to gave him a smile. It was rather a fake smile.

"Are you Shaun Darshall?" tanong neto.

Shaun just looked at him expressionless and silently nodded. "Who are you?"

The guy named Alois just let out a small chuckle.

"Follow us. You're blocking the way. We know who you are looking for." ani nito at tumalikod na para maglakad. Sumunod naman ang mga kasamahan neto.

Shaun just silently followed them. He already know the danger he's walking to but he doesn't care. He's going to wiped them out.

The group stopped in a empty building. The light lessen as they went in. Medyo madilim ang paligid at kakaunting ilaw lamang ang pumapasok.

Shaun knew that behind the darkness are a large amount of students are gathered there waiting for them.

Huminto ang lalaking nangangalang Alois at humarap sa kaniyang nakangisi.

"It won't be easy to enter this school, Darshall. Especially for a person like you." ani neto.

Shaun sighed as he looked at them. "This is pointless. Come to me after I get Kira out of here. I'm ready to take you all" he said as he walked back to them.

Alois didnt like what he said. "You arrogant bastard. Person like you deserves to die!" galit netong saad at sinenyasan ang isa netong kasamahan.

Naglabas ito ng isang paring knife at sinugod si Shaun mula sa likuran. Akmang sasaksakin niya ito ng bigla siyang hinarap ni Shaun at mabilis na umiwas. Kinuha niya ang braso ng lalaki at binaliktad ito na siyang dahilan ng pagkabitaw ng kutsilyo. Sumigaw sa sakit ang lalaki habang hinahawakan ang nabali nitong kamay.

Shaun looked at them expressionless. "Fine, I'll take you all on. Come at me at once and get this over with. I'm in a hurry so let's do it quickly" aniya.

Susugod na sana sila ng bigla silang pinigilan ni Alois. Takang tumingin ang kaniyang kasamahan sa kaniya.

"Pero boss–"...

"I said stop, are you deaf?" inis nitong sagot sa kasamahan. Walang nagawa ang lahat kundi tumahumik.

Alois walked towards Shaun and looked at him. Nang nasa harap na siya nito ay bigla na lamang siyang humalakhak. His laughed echoed the whole building. He gave Shaun a amusing look.

"As expected from the one and only, Shaun Darshall. Nothing can faze you.... But how long can you act tough?" aniya habang naglalakad paikot sa kaniya.

Shaun just stood there without any expression.

"What will you feel to lose someone you love? Seeing them dripping in blood. What expression will you give?..."

"...That girl–.. Kira was it? A girl from C class. Imagine the supreme Shaun Darshall cares for a class lower than his. Can you believe that?" ani nito at mahinang tumawa.

"A person like you drove all the way here just the save a mere girl that he just met. How especial she might be to you? Don't tell me, you like that girl?" pagkasabi non ay napuno nang tawa ang buong building.

Alois also laughed but he went back from being serious."That's impossible. A monster like you doesn't deserve love."

Huminto sa paglalakad si Alois at humarap sa wala paring expressiong si Shaun.

"A monster like you deserve to rot in hell!" sabay non ay paglabas nito ng kutsilyo at akmang sasaksakin na sana si Shaun nang naunahan siya nito.

Before they knew, Alois was already laying lifeless bathing his own blood. They looked up and saw Shaun holding a smaller knife filled with Alois blood.

Shaun looked at Alois dead body with lifeless eyes.

"If a monster like me deserve to rot in hell. I won't hesitate to dive right in. If killing is the only way to do that, then I'm willing to be called a monster if that what it takes to save her."
