Write
Sometimes I can make a decent rhyme
But usually I feel like making my poems rhyme is very restricting.
I have to use certain words or syllables,
And there aren't always a lot of choices
So I'll have to word something differently than I intended it to.
It takes quite a lot more thinking to write poems that way.
I prefer writing in free verse.
Then, I am free to write anything at all
And let out everything on my mind.
Even if the words don't have rhythm or they don't make much sense,
I can put a lot more power into my poetry this way.
But sometimes, I feel that maybe this isn't real poetry
Just an odd form of ranting and vomiting words onto a page.
Does poetry have to have such restrictions though?
I think that perhaps almost anything can be poetry.
Not always great poetry, but poetry nonetheless.
It doesn't matter wether or not it rhymes or has any rhythm,
Or if you use any amazing metaphors or similes, or alliteration or assonance
It doesn't matter.
Just write what's on your mind
And it might turn out to be beautiful.
