Her dress was pink, her hair was tied back and her smile was bright.

Sadie Vixen was standing in the Ravenclaw girls' dormitory with one of her two best friends - Marianne Shipman. They were both getting ready for the Yule Ball which was beginning very soon, and the two girls were ecstatic.

"Do I look alright?" asked Marianne, turning herself in front of a long mirror as she checked different angles.

"Oh, not at all," Sadie joked. "You look very ugly,"

Marianne snorted.

"Well, it could be worse, I could look like you," she retorted, to which Sadie laughed. Calling each other ugly was like calling each other stunning, in their language.

Marianne sat down and let Sadie play around with her hair, the two both thinking of ideas of what to do with it. There were three other girls in their dorm getting ready - Padma Patil, Mandy Brocklehurst and Lisa Turpin. They giggled along with Sadie and Marianne's humour, helping each other get ready as they did. There was a knock on the door, and each girl turned towards it, wondering who it could be.

"PLEASE," a male voice sounded outside. "Before I open the door - are there any naked ladies?!"

Sadie laughed at the voice of her other best friend, before calling back to him.

"You're all clear!"

Chad opened the door, although he had to stand in the doorway as there was a charm to keep girls and boys in separate dormitories.

The girls were all used to Chad hanging around
with them, even when they were in their dormitories - it's not like they had to worry about anything, he wasn't even into girls.

"You look lovely, Chad!" said Padma kindly. He grinned.

"Oh, Paddy, don't make me swoon!"

"She's lying, Chad," Sadie called from across the room, still styling Marianne's hair. "You look disgusting,"

"Would you please shut your Irish little mouth, Sadie?!" he retorted. The five girls all laughed. "How can one person be so nice yet so mean?"

"I'm only jokin'," said the blonde. "You scrub up well,"

"Tell me, how does Stephen look?" Mandy asked, eager for Chad to tell her how her date was doing. He sighed and shook his head.

"Don't even get me started." he groaned. "All four of those boys are scrambling round trying to work out how put their robes on, it's like they're three and their mothers still dress them! I couldn't have left quicker, they're actually hopeless,"

"I'm not surprised," said Marianne. "They certainly act like toddlers,"

"Don't be mean!" Lisa called from across the room. She was going with Anthony Goldstein, yet another Ravenclaw boy in their year. "I doubt Seamus is any better,"

Marianne chuckled, and looked down, blushing at the mention of her date. Sadie grinned.

"Yeah, but it's the Irish charm that brings his points back up!" she said. "Isn't that right, Marianne?"

"Shut up," the girl said, her cheeks still pink.

"Don't worry, love, it's a well known fact how attractive our accents are," said Sadie with a giggle, as Chad rolled his eyes.

"Is it?" asked Padma.

"Will you all stop yapping and hurry up?" The boy said. "I mean, I can deal with it most of the time, but this? It's almost as painful as watching paint dry."

"Bloody hell, Chad, chill out," said Marianne. "As soon as Sadie's done my hair, we'll be ready. Have some patience,"

"You know patience is something I unfortunately do not possess,"

"Perhaps I should've given you some for Christmas, then," said Sadie, as she added one last touch to Marianne's hair.

They soon decided to leave, as everyone wanted to find their dates before entering the Great Hall - well, except for Sadie and Chad. Neither could get a date and so decided to go as friends, which they didn't mind.

It was tradition for the champions and their partners to dance first, and everyone watched and applauded as they all walked in. First to enter Fleur Delacour and her partner - was his name Roger? Sadie wasn't sure. They were soon followed by Viktor Krum and - Hermione Granger?! Sadie would never have guessed this duo, but she certainly thought they looked cute together. Hermione caught her eye and flashed her a smile - they weren't close friends, but they had a few lessons together, and so knew each other from that. Sadie grinned back.

Cedric and Cho soon followed, and finally - Harry Potter and Pavarti Patil. The girl was beautiful and confident, smiling and waving to her friends as she walked. Harry might as well have had the words 'I'm scared' plastered on his forehead.

Sadie eyed him as he passed. He was so weird - not in a freakish way, but more of a way in which it made the girl curious. Maybe he was the most unlucky person in the world, as bad things always seemed to happen when he was around - which made him sound quite evil, if you describe it like that. And yet, he always seemed so oblivious and confused at everything. He seemed just as bewildered as everyone else, and blonde girl always found it quite amusing.

It was obvious he didn't want to compete in the tournament, and yet out of all the names of the underage students who actually wanted to enter, his gets pulled out. It was all so intriguing, and that was probably Sadie's weakness, for if there was anything remotely curious about anything, famous or not, she'd automatically become fascinated with it. And that was why Harry Potter was so mesmerising.

One thing about him that wasn't so alluring, Sadie soon learned, was his dancing - well, the waltzing part anyway. The boy had two left feet and Parvati visibly flinched every now and then as he accidentally trudged on her feet every now and again.

Sadie caught sight of Marianne, who was with Seamus, and pulled some kissing faces at her whilst she was at it. Marianne shot her a glare, but her lips did curve upwards a little bit.

When other couples were allowed to join in, Chad and Sadie didn't hesitate.

"Someone has to show everyone how to waltz," said Chad, as he grabbed his best friends hand and they practically strutted to the dance floor.

It was fair to say they were both surprisingly good at it, too. Chad was graceful, which helped in Sadie's favour because she didn't have to worry about her toes being stomped on. The blonde glided around the dance floor quite elegantly, the two laughing and chatting as they did so. The amount of so called 'practicing' (which was really just them messing around in their common room) they did seemed to have payed off.

The waltzing stopped after a while, which many students were thankful for, and the Weird Sisters soon began playing, much to Sadie's delight. She met back up with Marianne and Seamus, along with Dean Thomas and his date, and they were free to dance wildly, not having to worry about doing it properly. Even Hermione was practically radiating with glee as she danced with Krum.

"How did you like the slow dancing?" Sadie shouted over the music to them. Seamus laughed.

"I mean..." he said, turning to Marianne to check she wouldn't be offended. But the redhead was shaking her head in a fit of giggles.

"We were terrible!" she said with a beam. Seamus nodded.

"Crashed into all sorts of people," he said. "Think you two were one of the many few we missed,"

Sadie laughed, as she and Chad continued to dance, both twisting and turning, switching positions as they gazed around the hall, watching everyone else. Malfoy was actually smiling, which caught the blonde off guard for a second, as he danced with Pansy Parkinson. Ginny Weasley's bright red hair flashed through the crowd as she danced with Neville and a few of her other friends.

"Ooh, there they are!" Chad said loudly, turning Sadie round so she could spy out her dorm mates. Mandy, Lisa, Stephan and Anthony were all bouncing, perhaps less confident than others, but enjoying themselves all the same.

"Bless them!" said Sadie, when a thought suddenly struck. "Where's Padma?!"

"Huh," said Chad. "I saw her sat down earlie- oh no,"

Sadie spotted her the same time he did - sitting down with a miserable look on her face next to Ron Weasley, her date. Next to them was Parvati - with an equally dull look on her face - and Harry.

"That boy hasn't danced with her all evening," Chad complained. "Actually hopeless,"

"Ron," Sadie whined, as they watched from a distance.

"Neither has Harry danced with Parvati," said Seamus, joining in the conversation.

"Really?" said Sadie, glancing at Seamus for looking back over at the raven haired boy.

"Nope,"

Harry and Ron muttered something to each other, as Parvati and Padma exchanged bored expressions.

"He needs someone to force him to dance," said Sadie.

"Those poor girls," said Marianne. "I don't envy them,"

"Well carry on dancing with me then!" Seamus grinned, grabbing her hands. Marianne smiled, before the two returned to their singing and jumping.

"Awe," said Sadie, watching the two go. "They're so cute. Didn't I call it last year? I told you he had a crush on her, didn't I?"

"If they don't get married, I will be livid," said Chad. "I'm not even joking, I'll arrange it. I'll force it, if I have to."

Sadie chuckled.

"I'll help you,"

She couldn't help but keep glancing over at the grumpy boys slouching at their table. Parvati ended up having a Durmstrang boy offer to dance with her, and she didn't hesitate. Sadie couldn't blame her. Hermione soon joined the two for a moment, but it looked like she'd gotten into an argument with Ron, and so decided to leave.

"I can't stand this any longer," said Chad, still looking at Padma. "I'm getting my girl outta there, right now. Sorry, Sadie, you'll have to be deserted,"

"Go get her, poor thing," Sadie replied. "I'll find Dean, I'm pretty sure he's here with Lavender as friends, so I'll dance with them,"

And that she did. Dean and Lavender were perfectly happy to dance with Sadie, the three of them all stomping around and trashing their heads to the music. Even Seamus and Marianne ended up joining them again, but Sadie kept getting distracted. It was almost annoying, seeing Harry waste a perfectly good night. She had a plan, and when Ron left his best friend to go to the loo, she didn't hesitate for a second.

The blonde left her friends, heading out of the mosh pit towards the table Harry was sitting glumly at. She was so focused on the boy, she wasn't looking where she was going and accidentally crashed into someone.

She turned around with wide eyes, to see a small girl with brunette hair, who had been dancing with one of the Weasley twins... maybe Fred? She couldn't tell them apart too well.

Sadie knew who the girl was, though - Kaya Bennett was two years older than her, and was quite a loud girl, her and her friend Jaeden Ezra's witty comments never going unnoticed.

"Shit, sorry," said Sadie. But Kaya gave her a warm smile.

"You're alright," she replied, before the blonde gave her a nod and returned to making her way to Harry.

She finally reached the boy, who gave her a puzzled expression as she sat next to him. He glanced at her awkwardly, not saying a word.

"Are you not a fan of dancing, Potter?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Is it not obvious?" he replied. An amused expression grew on the girl's face.

"Alright, Mr. Sass, I didn't mean to strike a nerve,"

There was a short silence.

"You're... Sadie, right?" he asked slowly, still unsure as to why she was talking to him.

"The one and only," she grinned. "Why don't you come and dance?"

"I just... don't fancy it..."

"Why?"

Harry turned his head to look at the girl with a frown. He didn't even know this girl, really. He knew she was a Ravenclaw in his year, and he knew she was Irish. He also recognised her from a few times where she and her friends would hang around with Dean and Seamus, but that was it, really. He wasn't even sure if they'd ever spoken before.

"Just not my thing," he finally said.

"How about you come and dance with me, then?"

"...No, thanks,"

Sadie groaned.

"Come on!" she said. "I doubt you're having any fun sitting here, watching everyone else."

"I just don't like dancing!" he said with a more strict tone, becoming a bit irritated now. Sadie pulled a face. She could see Ron making his way back, now, and so she stood up.

"I'm just trying to be nice," she said. "You look bored."

"...Sorry," he replied awkwardly. He almost seemed scared, like he was expecting Sadie to lash out or get angry with him. But she didn't - she broke into a sweet smile, instead, which baffled him even more.

"Alright, then," she said. "I'll get you up at some point, though. By the end of the night."

The girl wandered off, as Harry muttered,

"I doubt it,"
