CHAPTER - 59
One decision will change your entire life.
Decisions and changes both are difficult to take and adapt but still, they are significant in everyone's life.
One right decision can put everything in order and one wrong decision can destroy everything. Life changes if the decision is right or wrong and we should always be ready to adapt to these changes.
Because we make decisions to bring changes in our life.
3 days before after one long conversation with Sam and Shreya, I decided to shift to Delhi. It was easy to make this decision after they said they are willing to come with me. I am a little nervous to face these changes.
The reason why I'm alive is changed already, I need to be alive for my kids, husband, mother, in-laws, and friends. I don't want my kids to go through the phase where I'm not with them again.
I just wish that as it has been easy to take this decision it will be easy to adapt to these changes.
Going back to Delhi makes me nervous, I don't know what to say to whom. To them, I am known, to me they are unknown. I have met Mom and Masi once and talked on the phone a few times but it doesn't lessen my nervousness.
It was easy to mingle up with Kunal and Neha because they are friendly and welcoming. I think there is a bit of awkwardness between me and Neha which I vow to erase when I go there.
As much as I have heard about everyone from Abir each of them is friendly and I know that is the reason I was friends with them because it's nearly impossible for me to make friends with an unfriendly person.
Sara, Foziah, and Asad.
I have seen them in photos and I just know their names. I don't know how I will react when I meet them and I am a bit nervous to see what their reaction will be.
There is a part of me that is aware there are two persons out there in Delhi who needed me years ago. I wonder if they died or something. I wish, they are dead and at the same time, I wish they are not dead.
I wish they are dead because I don't want to have any problems now in my life. I wish they are not dead because I want to take revenge on them for it.
There is one huge difference between the past and present me and that is I wasn't a cop back then which I am now. If those persons are alive they'll undoubtedly try to reach me and I along with Sam and Shreya can manage the rest.
Just hoping this decision brings better changes in our lives and let it not enter any bitter changes.
"Are you sure Aayan you want to stay here?" Sam looked at him confused as she sat on the bed.
Aryan helps Abir pack their clothes while Arya helps me pack their toys and stuffs. Kunal and Shreya volunteer to remove things attached to the wall, the photographs and all.
"I am damn sure. You see I am earning well now and in no time I'll be taking a flat for rent and my life is set." He tried to assure her.
"You always wanted to tag along with me what's with you this time?" She asked suspiciously.
"Uh, I am just trying to be better for me..." He trails off.
"There's nothing like that, Sam," Abir spoke as he packed the clothes. "He has a crush on someone."
"What's her name?" Abir looks at Kunal.
"Diya!" Kunal laughs as he removes the clock from the wall.
I shake my head as they continue with this conversation. Sam's biggest fear is Aayan turning something like their father and she turning something like their mother.
"Mumma, hide these in your stuff," Arya whispered as she handed me some chocolates.
"Who gave you these?" I frown as I whisper back.
"Oh, I grabbed them from our Snack Corner to eat at nights but bro was so observing that I couldn't." She pouts, I laugh slowly as I kiss her cheek.
"I can hear you," Aryan tells and we look at him surprised as he helps Abir seal the box.
"It's a really bad habit that you always hear our secrets." Arya rolls her eyes at him.
"Well, then you should learn how to whisper properly." He gives her a pointed look.
"Right." Abir agrees with him. "Princess you and your Mumma should go and talk secrets in a separate room if you don't want us to hear it."
I glare at him as he walks to us. "This is irritating," I say to him as he stands beside me.
"I find it funny." He shrugs. "Do you find the same, Aryan?"
"Oh, no." He shakes his head. "I actually find it interesting, I guess we have superpowers."
I laugh as he grins proudly. I watch as Arya and Aryan run downstairs to grab their stuff. Kunal and Aayan take down the boxes.
Having everything getting empty makes me feel emotional and nervous all over again.
This place means a lot to me because it has given me so much and I get nervous because I realize very soon I'll be in some other place and I should face this situation where I am blank and the opposite person is filled with memories.
"What's wrong?" Abir whispers as he looks at me.
I look up at him and I realize no matter what he is with me. He doesn't need to know I'm nervous to meet everyone but then I decide it's time I should stop keeping things within me. He asks me because he expects me to share it with him and because he wants to help me.
"I'm nervous," I mumble. "I don't know how I'm going to take this."
He reaches out to hold my hand in his. "It's okay." He assures as he squeezes my hand. "I am with you. It is just going to be fine and happy meeting."
"Assume you are just married to me and you are meeting your in-laws." He smiles. "I know it's not easy but you will not just keep hiding, right?"
He sighs as he holds my face in his hands. "I want you to get over this, meet them once and you'll start bonding up again as you did years ago."
"I will try my best." I smile at him as I look down to blink my tears away. How can I be weak when he's being strong for me?
"They all love you and none hates you so just chill and stop being nervous." He presses his lips on my forehead before he wraps his arms around me.
I hug him tight silently thanking Eva's mom and Badi maa for bringing him into my life years ago and he is still with me.
That is why I believe him without a second thought when he says - I'm with you.
✧✧✧
We stand in front of Badi maa's home, I breathe in as I ring the doorbell. I am so glad Abir said we should first visit Badi maa before we go to my in-law's home.
"You guys remember right? You'll call her Nani?" Abir looks at Arya and Aryan. They nod as they grin looking at each other. I don't know how kids always manage to look so excited.
"Do you think it's a bad idea to surprise her too? What if she's not home?" Abir looks at me when Badi maa doesn't open the door. I shrug, maybe she's not home.
Abir said we should surprise everyone so we haven't said anyone we are coming. I don't get if Abir plans a surprise at a bad time or he doesn't know how to surprise at all?
Our boxes are taken to our home and Kunal said he'll be taking care of them. Eva offered Sam and Shreya to take a flat in one of her apartments and right now they are at their place arranging their things.
"Who are these people near my door?" We turn around as we hear Badi maa's voice. She stands there in her office attire, a laptop in her hand and a smile tugged on her lips. She's probably returning from the office.
"Nani." Arya and Aryan screech as they rush to her. Badi maa looks taken aback as they hug her legs. I and Abir look at each other feeling happy.
We walk to her and I get emotional watching her teary eyes. It means so much to a mother when her kids address her just like that grandmother feels when her grandchildren address her.
No relationship should be underrated, each has its own importance. A maternal grandmother is someone who fights with your mother for you when she scolds you and someone who will always be on your side instead of her daughter's. Someone who will play these silly games with you and someone who will tell you some awesome stories about their mother's childhood.
Abir takes the laptop from her and she caresses their hair before she sits on her knee and hugs them.
I realize how much simple words mean a lot to people, Abir wraps his arm around me as he kisses the side of my head.
"Let's go in, I'll make whatever you guys want to eat." She grins at them. Aryan reaches out to clean her tear while Arya looks at her curiously.
"Why are you crying?" She frowns at her. "Papa, you said she'll be happy to see us." She rolls her eyes at Abir.
"She is happy, Princess." Abir laughs slowly. "Those are her happy tears."
"Oh." She stares at Badi maa's face with a frown probably trying to figure out how Abir knows they are happy tears.
Badi maa laughs slowly as she holds both of their hands and walks to the door.
"So what do you want?"
Arya continues with her long list of sweets and Aryan just says Low Fat Butter Chicken. He recently has a liking towards it from the time Abir made it one night.
"Wow. Your house is so beautiful." Arya runs around.
"Is that you, Mumma?" Aryan looks at the pictures hanging on the wall.
"Yeah." I smile looking at the old me, it's strange how we change. I am the same yet I'm different.
Abir says I'm still the same, I don't understand if he says that to make me feel better or what because I find a lot of changes in me.
Arya and Aryan look around the home and Abir goes behind them making sure they don't fall somewhere. Kids usually get hurt when they are too excited.
I look at Abir as he shows them around. He is such a good father, I don't even know if I can be something like him.
Mother and father should always meet each other halfway to take fulfill their responsibility as parents. I always find Abir a step ahead of me, he teaches them good and stops them from bad.
He is their friend and father at the same time. Am I doing any good thing as a mother?
"Where are you lost?" Badi maa looks at me as she keeps her stuff aside.
"Nowhere." I shrug and smile as I hug her. If there is any inspiration I can take to be a good mother that would be Badi maa.
"You didn't even hug me when you saw," I complain as I pull away.
She laughs slowly. "Those two look cuter than you, you have grown up now."
"My kids after all," I say proudly, and saying that out loud sounded so much better.
"My grandchildren after all." She says with the same proudness.
I smile. "I missed you."
"I missed you more." She keeps her hand on my cheek, I get emotional as I watch the moisture in her eyes.
"I am happy for you." She looks at me lovingly. "Don't let this happiness go away from you. Do anything but chase this happiness. You, Abir, and my grandchildren deserve to be happy after everything that has happened with you."
"Not just us." I shake my head. "You deserve to be happy too. I know deep down you were hurt and I am sorry I couldn't help you."
"It's okay." She smiles at me despite the tears in her eyes.
"It's not okay, stop lying," I say softly and she laughs slowly.
I hug her out of love, Badi maa is not just my mother she is my everything. She has been my friend, sister, teacher, strength, and happiness.
"Did you meet your in-laws?" She asks me as we pull away.
"No, we will go there tomorrow it's late already,"
"You are happy?" She looks at me carefully.
"I am." I nod. "Just a bit nervous."
"You'll get over it when you will get used to it." She assures me. "You'll feel nervous in starting as time passes you'll get used to it and I am sure you'll love it."
"I'll make sure she loves every bit of this marriage, again." Abir walks to us. "You fell in love with me, our kids just like that you'll fall in love with my family and then we'll continue fall in love with everyone in our life all over again. That is how love grows, gets sweet and then we call it Sweetness Of Love."
"I trusted you then, I trust you now." Badi maa smiles at him. "It's your responsibility to make her happy, keep her safe."
"I promise to fulfill it this time." He nods as he reaches out to hold my hand and squeezes it.
"Stop talking, please cook I'm hungry," Arya shouts from the couch. We all laugh before Badi maa excuses herself to the kitchen.
I sigh as I make a silent promise to help Abir fulfill his promise this time.
