CHAPTER - 08
12th August.
A special day in my life was when I gave birth to my babies, on 12th August. Sadly, I don't remember any of it but I get happy each time I watch my pregnancy photos. I am so grateful to Neha for capturing them and also for keeping them protected.
You know you are successful when your today is better than yesterday. I see my days getting better with my family and it just makes me want to keep it the same forever.
I have learned many lessons from my life, during my good and bad times. Each time in our lives just teaches us something and that becomes unforgettable.
I am not unhappy with my life because I lost my memory. I don't like to cry about what happened in my life, I just want to look forward to what is upcoming in my life.
Some of them remember me for who I was and some for who I am. I don't see myself as Mishti in the past and present.
I am just me.
I accept whatever Abir said to me and I know that has been my past life. I accept the people I had in past.
But that doesn't mean I forget what has been with me in my present. I cannot forget Sam and Shreya nor Eva for she has been so helpful to all of us.
I cannot forget for me my love life began the minute I saw Arya running down the stairs with Abir following behind her and Aryan coming along with a phone in his hand.
I still remember the handshake I and Abir shared that day on Christmas. I still remember his intense eyes and warm gesture asking me to join them in the elevator.
He actually asked me to join their lives.
From being his kind of neighbor to his wife, it has been a beautiful journey for me.
I didn't know I'm the mother of the twins who greeted me as - Stranger, Danger!
From being their Ms. Powerful and Ms. Strong to being their Mumma I have seen love grow between us.
All of it is special for me and I can't forget it no matter what. For Abir, our marriage or first meeting in his office might be a special day but for me that day, Christmas Day is special.
As I stand in front of the mirror and get ready along with Arya sitting on the chair beside me I realize we have come a long way and our relationship has grown sweet and stronger.
I pin my saree carefully as I try not to ruin it. I am absolutely in love with this red net saree Abir brought for me earlier today. I wear my earrings and nuptial chain before I wear my ring.
"Give a kiss to yourself." Arya looks at me as I finish applying lipstick. I laugh as I pout and give a kiss to myself, haha.
"Wait." She stands upon the chair to meet my height. I bent my knee a little to match her level and kiss her on her cheek.
"Who's looking prettier?" She asks as we stare at ourselves in the mirror.
"Of course, it's you." I look at my girl who has turned 8 now but she still looks small to me.
"No, it's both of us." She kisses my cheek. She looks beautiful in her red frock which has a bow on her waist. I grab the red headband and put it on her head.
It is the first time we both are getting dressed together for a celebration, it is also the first time we are giving a party for everyone as a family so this is special and we want to look beautiful for it.
Come on, it's the first celebration we are celebrating as a family and also it's our kid's birthday.
Well according to Abir I cannot say mine to things which belong to us.
"It's my birthday." Arya squeals and I laugh at her, she has been saying it from the morning.
"Yeah, Happy Birthday, Baby." I pick her up and make her stand on the floor.
Abir and Aryan are attending the guests down. It's just the friends and family and with that, I and Abir decided to invite our neighbors.
We want our kids to feel comfortable so we didn't invite a lot of people. It's good because you tend to enjoy yourself a lot with people who are familiar with.
"Come on, come on, get down fast." Aryan barges inside. I look at him and I can't ignore the fact he looks so much like Abir. He fixes his tie as he walks in keeping his hands in his pocket. He is clearly duplicating Abir right now.
"You are supposed to knock on the door before you enter a room when girls are getting ready." Arya crosses her arms on her chest as she glares at him.
"And why?" He frowns.
"Because we are getting ready." She shrugs.
"Whatever." Aryan rolls his eyes. "But I'll knock next time." He nods.
"Good, birthday boy." She laughs. "Who looks prettier?"
Aryan looks between us as he pinches his eyebrows together. He scratches his forehead as he looks confused.
"I think, it's me." He says slowly.
"Aren't boys supposed to look handsome?" Arya raises her eyebrows.
"Oh, forget it." Aryan shrugs. "I had something important to say, Mumma, Papa called you down."
"Everything alright?" I ask as I help Arya with her shoes.
"Yeah, just Aunt Sara and Sam getting into an argument." He shrugs. I shake my head as I walk over to put my heels on.
"Take me down like a princess," Arya says to Aryan as I wear my heels.
"I'll carry you on my back?" Aryan offers as he looks at her.
"No, that will ruin my frock." She shakes her head.
"I'll hold your hand--" He stops abruptly. "Wait. You ain't the only one who is celebrating a birthday today. I am a birthday boy too." He straightens up as he fixes his fixed tie again.
"So?" Arya raises her eyebrows. I put all the makeup stuff in the box before I put it in the drawer.
"So, I need some special treatment too. You don't ask birthday boys to do work." Aryan says seriously.
"Okay, that's enough. Come on, let's get down." I interrupt them. "You have both been getting special treatment since morning."
I and Abir actually managed to cook their favorite breakfasts on time which obviously made them happy. Abir and I together gifted them bicycles which they are excited to use.
Aryan got a Solar System Outer Space puzzle and a Robotics Kit from us and he loved it a lot.
Arya got a Clever Cubes Moving Minds and Pen Control Write and Wipe activity sheets. She was happy with her gift but that didn't stop her from eyeing her brother's gift.
They are usually obedient kids but today when Abir mentioned you just have to enjoy all-day they took it a bit serious.
They played in the water and drenched each other on the lawn and when I asked them to come back inside they were like, We have to enjoy all day.
It wasn't just this Aryan started sliding on the railing while Abir was away to buy return gifts for everyone. And the only answer I got is, We have to enjoy all day.
I couldn't yell at them nor did I want to appear like I was restricting them. One thing I have always known is you shouldn't force kids to do anything you will have to make a place in their hearts and make things simpler for them.
When you force or shout at them they will start disliking you slowly. We all will understand why our parents were strict as we grow but that's not the time to just understand and feel guilty. It's parents' responsibility to make their kids love them.
And that is why I opted to go plant pot trees with them on the open terrace until Abir arrives. We had bought pots a few days ago and it was a good idea to plant them with Arya and Aryan.
They also took a pot for themselves and promised to take care of their plants and challenged each other to see whose plant will grow faster.
I get down the stairs as they follow me behind, Neha hugs Arya as she wishes her. Foziah's kids greet her and compliment her to which she proudly smiles.
"You gotta go there." Neha shakes her head as she points at Abir who is standing between the girls.
As I walk to them I hear Kabir and Asad talking which makes me stop and hear them.
"I don't know if I should laugh or feel bad for Abir," Asad says. "It does look fun."
"You don't have your wife between them you would obviously find it funny." Kabir shakes his head. "I wish they didn't make a big issue out of it. But then we don't even know what's the issue."
"You should ask her," Asad suggests.
"If you know, she is my boss." He rolls his eyes.
"Apparently you fell madly in love with my sister-in-law." Asad laughs. "This was meant to happen."
"I am not complaining." Kabir laughs. "God, poor Abir." He sighs looking at them.
I look at him as he tries to explain to Sam who looks angry for some reason and I wonder what makes her so angry.
I approach them keeping in mind there's no use solving the issue here because that would again cause an issue whose side I'm taking and I'm currently not in for a drama.
"You know it's her fault too, stop trying to explain Sam." Shreya glares at Abir. How I wish Kunal was here on time to keep her on his side.
I take a deep breath. "You guys do know it's my children's birthday, right?"
They all turn to look at me, I see Sara sitting on the couch, she looks frustrated and her face has become red.
"Mishti, I--" I stop Sam and Sara as I raise my palm.
"I do not want any drama to replace this celebration," I say seriously. "And it's a request for you all to enjoy instead of arguing."
"What if I am sleepy?" Sara frowns.
"You should probably drag your husband to room with you." Sam rolls her eyes at her. "Aren't nights enough for you?"
I almost want to laugh out loud but I remind myself I shouldn't. Abir seems to have no control over himself and he ends up laughing.
Sara glares at her before she finds a better reply to convey to her. "Oh, you haven't spent the nights I spend so you better forget it."
I bite my lip and Shreya seems to take it seriously when she opens her mouth to give an answer I hold her arm.
"I said no more arguments," I declare as I drag her and Sam with me a little away from Sara.
"This is so wrong, she cannot say like that to my friend." Shreya frowns at me.
"She's pregnant and might feel tired and sleepy." I try to explain them. "You shouldn't have said it that way." I look at Sam.
"Last thing I want is my best friend taking the side of someone." Sam looks away from me.
"Sam--" I sigh not understanding what to say. I am forever grateful to her for helping me out when I didn't know what to do.
From helping me to take divorce from Rayan to joining along with me as an Undercover cop she has helped me a lot and it's something no one can replace.
I walk away from them and I notice Foziah coming from down the hallway carrying her baby in her arms and I assume she was nursing her.
I walk to her and hold her hand. "You gotta accompany your sister," I say to her as I help her sit beside Sara on the couch.
"Maa!" I cheer up as I watch her enter in with gifts in her hand. "You are late."
"I'm sorry. I was confused with the gifts." She smiles at me. I hug her and step aside as Arya and Aryan shout and hug her.
"Happy Birthday." She looks down at them as she caresses their faces. I smile as she looks at them with love.
"Thank you." Arya reaches for the gift. "Is that for me?"
"It is." She laughs as she hands one to each of them.
"Badi maa." Abir walks to her. "I'm so happy to see you here."
"And I'm happy to see you all together." She smiles.
Abir puts his arm around me. "The magic of your daughter being around."
"See! That's my daughter-in-law." I laugh as Mother-in-law gets in.
"You all are so late." Abir looks at them as Masi and Nanu enter.
"You haven't cut the cake yet, so we aren't late." Kiaan and Kunal laugh as they place the cake on of the tables. Kunal volunteered to get cake.
I reach out to hug Masi, mother-in-law, and Nanu. "The happiness just gets doubled when I see you all around."
"Happiness is when we see our children happy," Nanu says as he reaches out to caress my cheek.
"And I want to say this." I look at Abir. "I am a little astonished at how good your son is."
"Now, that's my son-in-law," Badi maa says and I watch as Abir gets a little red.
"Are you blushing?" I look at him amused.
"Okay, let's get the cake," Abir announces as he takes the box and gets into the kitchen.
Everyone laughs and I shake my head before I follow him.
"What were they arguing on?" I ask Abir as I enter the kitchen and he opens the box.
"Sam was telling something silently to Shreya and since they were standing opposite to Sara she assumes she was speaking about her." He tells as he rolls his eyes. "And that is why Sara got a bit frustrated."
"Was Sam really talking about her?" I frown.
"I don't know. She said she was talking about something important." He sighs. "And Sara has mood swings so she might take things more seriously than required. "
"Oh," I say. Now I know maybe they were talking about the brown hoodie person. We have been trying to get on them but there's no clue yet and I haven't received a warning or note.
Later all of us sang the Happy Birthday song for Arya and Aryan as they cut the cake together. Fawzi and Ahad seem to scream on top of their lungs getting too excited.
"Thank you." Arya and Aryan smile at everyone as they hand them gifts.
"We have something to say." Arya and Aryan announce as everyone finishes having the cake.
"Go ahead." Abir nods at them.
"Thank you, Mumma and Papa, for making this birthday so special." Aryan looks at us with adoration.
"Thank you, Mumma and Papa, for all the gifts you gave us today and for making the entire day special." Arya grins at us and I smile at her.
"Thank you for inviting. It was a great party." Our neighbors talk with us and I smile at them.
"Thank you for coming." I smile at the lady and Abir hands the family return gifts.
As everyone gets engrossed in dinner I walk to the kitchen to get a few plates. Abir and Kunal seem busy with each other as they talk over something.
"Can we talk?" Kabir looks at me as I walk out of the kitchen with plates in my hand.
❊❊❊
Hello, everyone.
I hope it wasn't boring? Lol.
What do you think will be Mishti's reaction after a conversation with Kabir?
We have Mishti's POV coming again in the next chapter and hopefully soon.
How many would read if I write a story on Sara and Kabir?
It would be only after this book completes though. 😂✌
