"Opinions on the newbie?" Taehyung asked the group who Taehyung had asked to stay behind after work, trying to make it discreet so Jungkook wouldn't notice.
Jungkook had been working at the bar for a week now and had fitted in well. He hadn't made any proper mistakes and had been managing it all quite well.
"He's impressive, very impressive" Chan said. "I've never met someone quite like him. He's attentive, quick, precise, has a great memory, good listener, and picks everything up so quickly. He knows his shit" Chan said, knowing full well that their boss wanted to know as much as he could even if he was displaying a bored expression.
"Yeah he actually listens to me talk, and he's great with the customers, there's been an increase through the weekdays and we are having more regulars than we ever did before" Chae clapped.
"You make him sound like a tourist attraction" Taehyung sneered at the over energetic girl.
"Sorry boss" Chae gulped, looking off somewhere other than his eyes.
"Minjun?" Taehyung questioned.
"There's nothing else to say other than he's fucking talented"
Taehyung didn't even nod or smile, he just looked at the others who also said the same things to him.
"Okay you can all go now" Taehyung said before letting them all go home after their shift.
Taehyung went upstairs and to his office. He went to the cabinet and pulled out a bottle of whiskey and poured himself a glass. He walked to his couch and sat down crossing his leg over his lap as slouched almost. He took a few gulps and rested his head back, he let out a deep sigh and sat their in silence.
"Looks like I employed a gooden this week, I hope you're proud, I mean obviously not of me because look at me. But I hope this bar becomes the best it can become now" Taehyung spoke out in the silence of the room.
"You're probably annoyed at me though, I mean here I am drinking again wanting nothing more than to just drown myself in self pity and depression, and would you look at that, that's exactly what I'm doing"
"I'm weak, so fucking weak" Taehyung sobbed into his hands.
"I'm sorry, it shouldn't have been you, it should have been me" Taehyung sniffed, pushing away the few tears which slipped his eyes.
"Idiot, fucking idiot" Tae whispered to himself before pushing himself off the sofa and taking the bottle into his hands.
He locked the doors for his office and made his way out of the building making sure it was fully shut. He got into his car and pressed his foot on the accelerator. He wheeled down the window and felt the late night breeze on him. The car fastened and fastened until he was going about 100 mph down the main road with no car in sight. He looked ahead of him and had flashbacks.
"Taetae look at me" a little girl screamed as she swung upside down on the monkey bar.
"Taetae look at meeee" she screamed again as her chubby cheeks turned a bright shade of red from the blood rushing to her face.
"Be careful Luna! You might hurt yourself" Taehyung called back.
"Silly Taetae you're not daddy, you're my brother" the little girl whined not wanting to be scolded by her big brother as she's always being scolded by her parents.
"Taetae Ah!" She screamed as she slipped off the monkey bar into the wood chip pit underneath her, falling straight onto her knees.
Taehyung ran over to his crying little sister and brought her into his arms.
"It's okay bub Taetae is here" Taehyung sang as he brushed her hair out of her face.
"Let Taetae look at your knees bub"
"It hurts bad" the little girl sniffed, wiping her nose with her sleeve.
"I know but the sooner you let Taetae look at it the sooner Taetae can make it better" Tae gave his sister a little smile which brought her around and removed herself away from her knee.
Taehyung carefully looked at it and saw the blood dripping down the girls leg.
"Awh bub, I'm going to wash it with the water from our bottle okay and then Taetae will kiss it better"
"Okay" she sniffed, trying to stop the tears which were pooling out of her eyes.
Taehyung did just that and tied his jumped around her leg to stop the bleeding.
"Can we go home and watch a movie?" She asked tilting her head to the side and gave him a pleading look.
"Sure, and I'll even let you chose it"
"Yay! Taetae is the best" she smiled being picked up by her big brother as he carried her home from the park while Luna sang to herself happily with Taehyung occasionally joining in and laughing with her.
Taehyung kept his foot on the accelerator hard while gulping down the rest of the bottle of whisky. He turned the car and pulled up at the park. He stumbled around and went to one of the benches on the side.
"Luna" Tae called.
"Luna" he called again a little louder with a slight slur to his voice.
"Luna, come home" Tae called again.
"Please come home to me, I want to see you again, to hug you again, to laugh with you again. Please God, let me see her"
Taehyung swing himself off the park bench, and stumbled around a bit feeling his head being a bit floaty and up in the air. His feet stumbled lightly as he walked to the road right next to the park. I mean who would be out at this time anyways I guess. So he stumbled onto the road and sat down.
It was a weird feeling, he was sat there. No cars, no lights other than the few buildings in the distance and the lamps in the park which were pretty dim. The air was warm but cold but the way it hit his face felt like it was almost comforting. He felt free. Free. The fact that he could live life on the edge, the possibilities of what could happen next didn't even cross his mind because he felt free.
"Luna let me see you again" Tae whispered out again, not even seeing the headlights coming his way, yet he still stood up to his feet and stumbled out of the way.
Yes it was too close, way too close and he was too drunk to even realise how close it was but something in him told him to move so he did, and maybe that moment did save his life, but these moments aren't given out freely and only time can tell if even these moments and instincts will be able to save him when the whole world is crashing down.
