Chapter 33 | Rey Enterprises

Doris and I are having a silent stand-off, part two. Only this time Holden is doing damage control. He looks like he'd rather be kicked in the nuts, though.

"I have nothing to apologize for." I raise my chin. "You're the one who called me a whore."

"You're the one who pretended to be one, oh so skillfully."

My mouth drops and I stab a finger in her direction, gaping at Holden. "You see! Are you seeing this?"

He cuts me a dry look. "Sierra, we agreed you gave her the wrong impression on purpose. That one is on you."

"I can't fight but I might just be inclined to practice on your face, buddy."

"Sierra."

I mutter a slew of colourful words under my breath and reluctantly look at Doris again. She's staring at me expectantly. I have to grind my jaw to get the words out.

"Doris. I'm...sorry." I shudder.

"For?" She prompts like the asshole she is.

"Calling you a little hag."

"And?"

"Giving you the finger."

"And?"

"Not lying about it, big girl." I span my arms out and go for her, startled screams erupting.

"Woah. Hey." Holden wraps his arms my waist and lifts me into the air, pulling me back. The little jerk bought this on himself. I kick the air but it's no use because he starts walking away with me. "Good to have you on board, Doris!"

"Only because you pay me well!" She yells back accusingly.

Holden manhandles me into his fancy new office and drops me on the couch, closing the door behind him. He turns back around with his fingers pinching the bridge of his nose.

"That was your version of making nice?"

"She's so mean! Why did you have to bring her along?"

"Because she scares everyone away and makes my life easier for it. She's part of the deal now so make your peace with her."

I sit straighter, eyeing him as he comes to stand in front of me. "If you needed a receptionist so bad I could have been yours."

"You couldn't and you know it. You can barely take time away from the bakery."

That drives a grin out of me. "You're right. I'm too cool and successful for you now."

He shakes his head with a suppressed smile, setting his hands on the couch behind me and leaning down to capture my lips.

I can't believe I get this hunk all to myself, all the time. Everything might have fell apart at one point but it was only because we were meant to rebuild from the ground up. And that's exactly what we did since getting back together.

Turns out, a lot of the guests at Holden's party recorded the meltdown Victoria had after admitting she was the reason I went viral. Karma did its job for once because the videos were uploaded shortly after and Victoria went viral not too long after that. She received a lot of hate and made a ton of headlines and I genuinely felt bad for her because I knew what she was experiencing. But Holden reassured me that I shouldn't be worrying about her when I already spent enough time suffering at the hands of her choices. Besides, as bitchy as she was, she's kind of the reason Holden and I are where we are.

I went viral a second time, but in a good way. There was a brief period where the internet was creepily obsessed with Holden and I as a couple and everyone wanted insight on our relationship. We did interviews and photoshoots and became the 'it' couple of the Sports industry for a couple of months. At least until Travis went and got married and stole our spotlight from us. He apologized for cheating on his love for me and I forgave him so I guess it's cool.

Sierra's Sweets has never been as big as it now. A month after Holden's birthday, I had to start looking at bigger locations to move my bakery too because I had an overflow of customers I couldn't handle. My new space is triple the size of my old bakery and I have a whole team of bakers who help me bake and serve treats everyday. I'm living my literal dream.

It's hard to believe that today marks one year since I moved to Sam Francisco. So much has changed this past year and even though shit got rough at multiple points, I'm grateful for all of it. Because it led me here, now, with my fiancé climbing on top of me and groping the hell out of my tits. Score.

Yeah. Satan proposed. It was...eventful. He tried to be cheesy and hide the ring in a strawberry shortcake he made for me but I ended up eating it and choking on it. Then he had to heimlich the damn thing out of me and took me to the emergency room just in case. He was pretty embarrassed about it but I told him to propose again while I changed into my hospital gown. He did and that time I said yes, ass hanging out and all. I thought it was romantic.

"Here?" I mumble against his lips as he straddles me on the couch, one hand sliding between my thighs.

"Mhmm." His tongue meets mine and I can feel myself grow wetter. "We're christening the new office. It's good luck."

"I think I've heard that somewhere," I agree breathlessly when he starts rubbing me over my panties. My back arches in response.

A loud banging on Holden's office door makes the both of us jerk.

"Let's go." Mason orders. "You're not jeopardizing my schedule because you can't keep your dicks in your pants."

I make a face. "How is it possible that someone more uptight than you exists?"

Holden snorts. "Imagine working with him."

Did I mention these two opened up their own sports agency together? Because they did. They so, totally did.

Today is the grand opening of Rey Enterprises and the response to it has been a huge success so far. Holden got his best employees from SFPM to join him here and a handful of the best agents too. Already they've had athletes formerly signed onto SFPM asking if they can transfer their contracts to Rey Enterprises instead. SFPM is no longer the same without Holden but that was a given. He was the heart and soul of that place and now he has an agency of his own, under his own name. Him and Mason signed on as co-partners and it turns out that Mase might be an even better agent than his brother. The two of them together though? Unbeatable. Everyone wants them.

"Move it," Mason demands when neither of us budges.

Holden sighs and reluctantly gets to his feet before helping me up. I pet his obvious erection in sympathy and he rolls his eyes, linking his fingers through mine and walking us out.

Mason is leaning against the door opposite Holden's, where his office is. Now that he's responsible for half of Rey Enterprises he's upped his game. If I thought he was a cold dude before it's nothing compared to now. Baby Rey didn't come to play, that's for sure.

"Can you relax your face?" I scold him. "This is only day one and that you're-the-shit-beneath-my-shoe expression isn't good for business."

"Don't care," He deadpans and heads down the hallway, his hands in his pockets but standing tall.

I look over at Holden who's watching his brother's retreating back in pride. He glances at me. "I knew he'd be able to handle this. My old co-partner kept saying Mase was too young to sign on but look at him."

I smile at the obvious love between the two brothers. "I hope you're giving yourself some credit for that. You were a kid raising a kid and look at the both of you now. I'm so proud of you."

"I guess," He shrugs. Holden is arrogant about a lot of things but never about his brother. As far as he's concerned, he'll never see raising Mason as something to brag about. The thought warms me.

"You'd make a great dad," I blurt without thinking.

As soon as the words are out there I freeze. We've never discussed kids before and I don't want to freak him out or anything but considering we're getting married, that conversation is going to have to take place at some point. I guess I saw an opening and ran with it.

Holden stops walking and grabs my waist, forcing me to stop too. He turns me toward him and searches my face. "You really think so?"

My heart races faster. He's not turning the idea down. "I really think so. Don't get me wrong, if the kid gets any of your genes it'll definitely come out with horns and three eyes but you'd love the crap out of it anyway."

His mouth quirks. "Are you asking me for little Satans, baby?"

"Maybe. Kind of." I fiddle with his tie, making sure to straighten it again so he won't feel the need to even though he probably will. "Fine. I'm totally asking. Give me your devil babies, pretty please?"

He chuckles under his breath and tugs me against him. When his forehead meets mine his laughter gradually dies out. "What if I make our kids feel abandoned? I work all the time and it's what I love to do. What if I don't find balance and make them feel the way I felt growing up?"

"Oh, honey." I sigh and wrap my arms around his neck. "That's not you. You're driven and focused but you always make time for the people you love. You do it for Mason and you do it for me and if we have kids, you'll do it for them. And if you don't then I can just knock some sense into you, you know, like when the television is busted and a couple of slaps fixes it right up. Same thing."

"You're going to make a great mom."

"Bite me."

He does, nipping my mouth and drawing a laugh out of me. He smiles against my lips. "I mean it. You'd make an incredible mom, Sierra. So...yeah. Let's make some crazy devil babies."

"Our poor children. They don't stand a chance."

"Not one."

I laugh again, overcome with excitement and nerves. I'm going to make little Satans! I go up on my tiptoes to meet his mouth and kiss the crap out of him. It's short and sweet and gives my uterus butterflies. She's ready to grow a human, alright.

"Jesus," Comes an annoyed huff. I let go of Holden to frown at Mason.

"For your information, your brother just promised he'd put his babies in me and I am very happy about that so let me eat his face."

A rare ghost of a smile touches his mouth before just as quickly disappearing. "Avoid the disgusting visual next time. And congratulations. Now let's go."

Laughter bubbles out of me as we follow him and Holden shakes his head, straightening his tie. Called it. "Man, you have your work cut out for you with him."

"He's a walk in the park compared to you." He chuckles when I elbow him in the ribs.

"Asshole."

"You love me."

"Not all the time."

"Liar," He whispers in my ear and I fight a grin.

The three of us exit the building and come face-to-face with a slew of reporters who immediately rise from their seats. Questions ensue and persistent flashes go off from all corners. I stand off to the side while Holden and Mason go up to the podium to make their statement.

"This is so freaking cool," Harper says from beside me. "I can't believe they opened their own agency."

"I can." Dani snorts.

"Seriously," Iris agrees. "Just look at them up there. They're too arrogant to not go through with something this risky."

Her and Dani exchange a smile of agreement. Now would be the time to add that they got married last month. I bawled like a freaking baby and that's when Holden realized I wanted the same thing, so he proposed a week later. These two are the reason I'm marrying Satan and I love them even more now, if possible.

"Thank you to everyone who is here in support of our decision," Holden begins and the crowd naturally grows quiet. You can't help but give him all of your attention when he asks for it. "My brother and I have big expectations for Rey Enterprises and we know you do too. We hope to meet them."

"And if you're here to ask passive-aggressive questions thinly veiled as your disbelief in us then leave," Mason adds calmly and the way Holden sighs makes me think this was not part of the speech. "If you want to witness a crash and burn, you've come to the wrong place."

Beside me, Dani and Iris start snickering. These two are as no-bullshit as you can get so naturally they love Mason. I, on the other hand, drop my face into my palms. I've been trying very hard to reign in my future baby bro but to no avail. This is just who he is.

Holden rubs the side of his mouth and my eyes narrow on him. The idiot is trying not to laugh. He finds Mason's attitude amusing and is always encouraging it. And where does that get me? Mothering these two morons. I swear that's all my life is anymore.

They take questions from reporters like total rock stars. Holden answers most of the questions and Mason gives his occasional input when a question is specifically directed at him, like if he feels ready to take on such a big role when he's only so young and if this is really what he wants to do with his life. His answers are direct and to the point and he seems happier letting Holden take reign. I know Holden isn't a people person but Mason is something else altogether. Makes me wonder who the hell will be bold enough to draw him out of his shell someday.

"Where do you see yourself in ten years?" One of the reporter asks when Holden calls for the last question.

He takes a moment to think about that, obviously mulling it over. "Satisfied with the choices I've made in my life."

"I meant in terms of Rey Enterprises—"

"I know," Holden cuts in. "And a year ago I would have answered by giving you stat numbers I expected and went on about the future of the company. But somebody once told me there's more to life than being successful and bringing in the numbers. I hope to see Rey Enterprises flourish within the next decade but more than that, I want to be content with who I am. My success in ten years will be bigger than this company—it will involve my wife and children and all that I am outside of this industry."

A couple of "aw's" ring out and the loudest one comes from me. I'm flat-out crying but I don't care. Holden meets my eyes and offers the barest smile, so serious yet so soft. I can't believe he loves me like this. I can't believe I love him like this. I can't believe that he's the one that gave me my happily ever after.

A noisy toddler squeal disrupts the moment and one of the moms in the crowds tries to shush her screaming baby, who chucks the toy in her hand and sends it flying in the air. It comes in my direction and I hold my arms out just in time to catch it.

A pig. A flying pig.

I look at Holden with my jaw unhinged and he's doubled-over in silent laughter. Even Mason covers his eyes with his hand, shaking his head. I always did tell these nimrods pigs would fly before I gave Satan the time of day.

"I knew it!"
