●Argute
~Noah~
argute /●adj. shrewd, having or showing sharp powers of judgement
As father of two grown up boys and husband to (let's face it) a brat, you'd think I had become argute. You'd think I'd managed to figure out what's right and wrong and what I should and shouldn't do in a particular situation.
But that isn't entirely true. I had my inner insecurities, however small they might be. I worried about them in situations I didn't know what to do myself. I worried about their heart being broken even when I put up a confident smile and showered them with encouraging words. And at this point in our lives when my own love story had snapped back just right, I could only hope that so does my son's.
~Ian~
My son probably thought I didn't hear him banging his door shut at around midnight. My room was right next to his in the hotel and that particular moment, I wished it wasn't.
Two pairs of shoes struggled to get through the door and somebody definitely ran into the side table as I heard the lamp falling off. Wow, the walls were pretty thin. I tried to ignore the sloppy kissing sounds and Emerald's magnified moans but it wasn't long before a muffled cry of 'baby please fuck me' invaded my innocent ears and I knew it was my cue to leave.
I got up from the comfortable bed I was lying in, picked up my phone from the side table and walked out, locking the door behind me. I took the elevator to the ground floor and went out of the hotel into the chilly night. The road was deserted except a few people checking into the hotel and a lady closing down her diner from across.
I stood there, dumb and alone with nowhere to go. I would be so lost, I realized as I took my phone out of my pocket and dialed my favourite number, if I didn't have my argute husband by my side. I was so silly that I risked losing him so many times in the past. Only if there was somebody to slap my head and tell me to stop being a jerk when I made bad decisions, but then again, that was my husband's job.
"Hey handsome," his groggy voice said from the other side as he picked up my call. I smiled.
"Hey beautiful," I replied, holding the phone closer to my lips.
"What's up at one in the night?" He asked, grunting as he probably sat up. I shouldn't have disturbed his beauty sleep but you see, I was selfish and I fed on his selflessness.
"I miss you." I sighed, closing my eyes and relishing in his imaginary presence, not caring if a car ran over me as I stood in the middle of the road.
"And?"
"And our son is doing the hanky-panky in his room without caring to be subtle about it."
He laughed his half-asleep laugh and proceeded to blow me a kiss after it.
"Thank you," I whispered, smiling.
"For?" His adorably stupid self asked.
"For being mine."
"Baby, you're being sappy," he chuckled.
"It's the truth, Noah."
"You're calling me by my name, it's gotta be serious," He laughed.
"I love you." I said with nothing but the truth.
"I know." My husband replied.
"You don't."
"Ian, you need sleep."
"Yes. I need to sleep. With you."
"Are you trying to be sexy?"
"Maybe?"
"Your game has gone weak then."
"You think so now, huh?" I said in the huskiest voice I could manage.
A pause ensued before he whined in a whisper.
"Don't try to turn me on, you're not here to tend to my needs."
"But I will be tomorrow."
"Oh yeah? And what do you propose, mister?"
"I propose that I take you out for a nice warm dinner and then we book a suite near some beach and enjoy the view."
"And?"
"And then I fuck you into the mattress till you pass out."
"Now that sounds like a plan to me."
"Save the next couple of days for me."
"I saved all of my days for you when I married you, Ian Lutyens."
"You make me the happiest man on the planet."
"Likewise, baby."
I smiled a content smile like a child does after a happy meal. I'd never get enough of him.
"Where are you?" He asked, yawning afterwards.
"In the middle of a road. Hey, you should sleep. I know you're tired."
"No, I want to keep my lonely husband company."
"I'll be fine, love. You have to wake up early tomorrow."
"So do you, for your flight."
"You can be stubborn sometimes."
"Funny, coming from you."
I laughed.
"How's Jayden?" I asked.
"He's being his usual self. Barely talkative. How did things go with Emerald? I'm considering good since you're out on the road at this hour."
"Yeah, they seem to have gone well. We can get our happy son back."
"Yeah, that makes me happy."
"I'm happy too."
"I'd be happier when you all get back home."
"And I'd be happiest when I take you to that suite."
"You have a way of taking things in one direction always."
"I can't resist having dirty thoughts about you."
"I've lost whatever sleepiness I had a second ago."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, sir."
"Do you want me to take off your shirt?"
"Yes, sir."
"Do you like it when I rake your chest with my fingertips?"
"Y-yes, sir."
"And when I lick your neck?"
"Mhmmm,"
"And when I trail kisses downwards, on your chest, on your tight nipples..."
"I'm losing my breath already, baby."
"Then what would you do if I say my cock is twitching in my pants, for you?"
"Ian!"
"I want you so bad. I'd kill to be in bed with you right now."
"Go on, don't stop."
"I want to pin your hands above your body and hold them tight."
"Y-yeah,"
"And make love to you so damn hard."
"Ah!"
"Where are your fingers?"
"I-in my butt,"
"Where they should be."
"Baby, please..."
"I want to cum inside you, Noah."
"Iannn..."
"I want to hear you screaming when I do it."
"Ah! Fuck!"
"Papa?"
I jerked back to reality when I heard that word. The voice had not come from the phone but from somewhere behind me.
"I'll be back." I said to my husband on the phone and turned around on my heels to watch my son walking towards me.
"Hey kid," I said to him as he came closer. "How are you?"
"I'm good," He said with a slight smile. "Emerald and I are...together, I guess."
"That's great news! What are you doing out here? Where's Emerald?"
"He's asleep upstairs in my room. I thought I should let you know about us but I saw you weren't in your room so..."
"Okay well, I'm happy for you." I said, patting his shoulder lightly. "And now I'm going to go get some sleep. So should you."
My phone was now in my pocket where Noah was still on hold, probably listening to everything.
"Good night, papa."
"Good night, Kay." I said and proceeded to walk inside before Kaylen called out for me again.
"Hey, papa."
I stopped and turned back to him.
Then he pointed at my pocket where my phone was and said, "That better have been dad."
