"Honey, what is on your mind?" Cinna broke me out of my train of thoughts. I opened my eyes. He was still steadily dying my hair. "What do you mean?" I asked him. He rubbed the dye into my hair and smiled at me through the mirror. He had a twinkle in his eye.

"You have been zoned out this whole time humming to yourself," he said. I felt my eyebrows furrow together in confusion. "I have?" I asked him. I really hadn't noticed. He nodded before stripping his gloves off and tossing them in the trash can.

He offered his hand to me and I took it as he pulled me out of the chair. He brought me over to the dryer. I sat down and he pulled the dryer low on my head. "So what's on your mind?" he asked me as he set the temperatures on the dryer. I shook my head.

"Trust me, it's nothing important," I said while sitting back in the chair getting comfortable. Cinna gave me a small smirk and winked at me before walking off to do something else. I knew I had at least 45 minutes under this dryer before my hair was done.

I grabbed my bag that was right beside the chair and pulled out my drawing pad. I started working on a sketch that I had been working on for quite some time. It was a sketch of Flanery and his dog Donut. I was almost finished with it and couldn't wait to give it to him.

It didn't seem like I had been working on it that long before Cinna was walking back over to me. He lifted the hood of the dryer up just a little so I could hear him. "Here," he said while taking my drawing pad from me and folding it closed. I reached for it but he pulled it away.

"I don't think you need that right now," he said. My eyebrows pulled together in confusion before he dropped a composition book in my lap. "I think you need to get it out," he said while opened up the book to a fresh page. He gave me a small smile before walking away.

I tapped my pencil against the paper. Had I really been humming to myself this whole time and not paying attention to how loud I was actually doing it? My hand started flowing across the page as I started writing our lyrics. I didn't know why all of this had suddenly decided to hit me. I couldn't remember the last time I had wrote a new song.

 Baby,

Whatcha doing today,

what are you doing later?

I tapped my pencil against the paper again. I had the beat and the music but now I was struggling with thinking of the lyrics. I looked up to see that Norman was now sitting under the dryer across from me playing on his phone. He looked up and gave me a small smile.

I felt my heart beat quicken slightly and I averted my eyes. I saw him smirk out of the corner of my eye before he returned back to his phone. By the way he was tapping at it, I assumed that he was either texting or playing Candy Crush. My phone suddenly buzzed and I looked down at it.

"How's it going? ;-)" it read. It was Cynthia. I rolled my eyes knowing exactly what she meant with that emoji. I decided to add Flanery to the conversation. "Would you two please leave me alone? I am busy writing. ;-)," I texted back. I received an instant reply from both of them.

"WRITING!?!?!"

I felt a smile forming on my face. "Yeah, I have a new song idea," I texted before looking back down at the pad of paper in my lap. My phone buzzed again but I ignored it. It kept going off but I knew that it was Flanery and Cynthia talking to each other.

I don't know my way

through a maze of gray skyscrapers

But I'm willing to learn

It felt like it all clicked for me after that. I felt myself tapping my foot as I started humming to myself once more. The lyrics started to flow naturally after that.

If you want me to

I'll stay just where I am

But I promise just to

follow when I land

And you can take my word

for that

I glanced up at Norman to see he that he was steadily staring at me now. I felt a smile coming across my face as he pointed his phone towards me. I grabbed mine and pointed mine right back knowing that he was taking a picture. It was only fair to do it in return.

After snapping the picture I sent it to Flanery and Cynthia seeing that their texts were still pouring in. I added the photo the text and titled it "Manhattan from the Sky." After it sent through I quickly got a couple text messages back from both of them.

"REEDENSTEIN!!" from Flanery.

"Manhattan from the Sky?! What's that supposed to mean?!?" from Cynthia.

I locked my phone and placed it beside me again before picking up the notepad again.

You are my Manhattan

from the sky

You look so neat and tidy

when I'm way up high,

But I know your streets

are lined with a-

The dryer suddenly shut off and Cinna was standing over top of me. "All done," he said while pulling me out of the chair. I closed the book and tossed it on top of my bag. "Did you get it all out?" he asked me as he laid me back in the chair to wash my hair.

I gave him a small smile. "I actually feel a little better. My brain doesn't feel all jumbled now," I said. Cinna let out a small laugh as he raised the chair up and brought me over in front of the mirror. I sat down in the chair and he started hacking away at my hair.

"We're not gonna make it to short, are we?" I asked him. Cinna was still steadily cutting and didn't stop while he responded. "Nope, just a few inches. It's just gonna be really thin so you're able to flip it around," he said. I felt a sparkle in my eye when he said that.

It seemed that he had quickly finished cutting my hair and he was now styling it. I slung my head from side to side feeling how light it was. I loved everything about it. Cinna stripped the apron from me and spun the chair around in a circle before stopping it where I was facing the mirror.

"I love it," I said as I stood up. Cinna grabbed both of my hands and kissed each cheek before releasing me. "I will see you bright and early each morning on set," Cinna said as I tucked my new composition book and my drawing pad back in my bad.

I looked around and couldn't seem to find Norman. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and walked past everyone. I opened the door and squinted my eyes when the light blinded me. After my eyes adjusted that's when I saw Norman sitting under a tree a few feet away.

I dropped my bag by his bike and started making my way towards him. His hair looked almost the same shade as his natural color but just a tad darker. It was the same length though. He had one leg pulled up to his chest his arm was resting on his bent knee and resting limply in his hand was a lit cigarette.

I plopped down beside him and he glanced over at me. He was quiet and continued to puff on his cigarette. "You ready to head back?" I asked him. I didn't need to go back to the house. It's not like we had anything to do. Norman blew out some smoke making a perfect smoke ring.

He stamped it out in the dirt next to him before standing up. He offered his hands to me and I gladly took them. He pulled me up with ease and we started walking towards his bike. He handed me his backpack and I slung it along with my back over my shoulders.

Both Norman and I strapped our helmets on. He climbed on first and then I placed my hands on his shoulders and straddled the bike myself. Norman quickly started the bike and I wrapped my hands around his waist without him even having to tell me.

Norman took off quickly and I felt myself grip around the waist a little tighter. It didn't take us long to get home after that. He was definitely speeding. He slid into the driveway and shut off the bike. I slid off the bike and shed his backpack from my shoulders.

I handed it to him with a small smile. "Thanks," he said while pulling off his helmet. I pulled off my helmet and shook my hair loose before running a hand through it. Norman was staring at me. "What?" I asked him feeling slightly uncomfortable with his stare.

"He was right," he said softly. I arched an eyebrow. "Who?" I asked him. He smirked. "Cinna," he said. I cocked my head to the side. "About what?" I asked him in return. His smirk turned into a smile. "The darker color does make your eyes pop," he said. I felt myself trying to contain a smile as we walked up the steps to our doors together.

So they're just one step closer to filming the movie!! oh no, here comes team matchmaker, aka Cynthia and Flanery. Vi is getting her inspiration for writing back! Woo! So the lyrics are in italics, who do you think the song is about? Why do you think Norman was being so awkward with Vi after they got their hair done but then paid her a compliment when they got back to their house?
