Chapter 31

ITS NORMANS BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello readers, I know that it has been such a long time. I started working at the Postal Service in April and everything was fine until a month into it 3 employees quit and 1 person moved up in the company. That opened a lot of hours and my boss had no problem giving as many to me as he possibly could. As I'm sure some of you know the Postal Service gets super busy starting in November because of Christmas. I was working 150 hours in two weeks and I never had a day off in December. I am starting to be able to feel normal again.

I know you guys probably think that I'm just rambling a bunch of excuses right now. But honestly it has been brutal. My boss still hasn't hired any extra help and it's been months. So until then please just bear with me. I have been working 12 hour shifts and then coming home and instantly falling asleep.

I feel like I haven't seen my child either. She's 1 now and it's hard to believe how much she's growing.

Thank you for 52,000 reads, 2,000 votes, and 14 comments on the last chapter. I want to thank everyone for the continued love and support and I hope you continue to stick with me. I know it's been a while but I'm hoping to finally get some things back to normal around here.

Here's the next chapter, Nords. You may need to go back and reread to refresh your memories but I hope you enjoy it!

Norman and I ended up at a hole in the wall restaurant that was in the middle of nowhere. It was quiet and the food was delicious. People weren't bothering us. It was almost like they didn't know who we were at all. They kept to themselves at their own tables in the own conversation.

Every once in a while our waitress would come and check on us to refill our drinks or ask if we wanted anything else. "Look," Norman said finally breaking the silence between us. He was pointing behind me with his fork. I turned around to see a small stage only big enough to fit maybe two people. There was an acoustic guitar and a small keyboard sitting up there.

Beside the stage a sign that read Open Mic Night in big letters. I turned around and looked at Norman who had a smile on his face. "Oh no, I know what you're thinking," I said. Norman's smile grew as he took a sip of his drink. If I remembered correctly he ordered Jack and Coke.

"Come on just one song," Norman said and I shook my head. "I don't think so," I said. Norman chuckled and stabbed a piece of his steak with his fork. "Why not?" he asked. I shrugged. "Because no one wants to hear. Everyone's enjoying their own company," I said.

About that time an middle aged woman leaned over from her table with who I was assuming was her husband. "Honey, everyone would love to hear. They haven't had someone sing in here in a while and we come in here for our weekly dinner every time they have the open mic night," she said before sitting back in her seat and resuming her conversation with her husband.

I sighed and took a sip of my water. "Just one song," I said mumbled before pushing my chair back and heading towards the small stage. Norman let out a small chuckle that I barely hear as I sat down in the chair and grabbed the acoustic guitar.

"Uh, hi, My name is Violet," I said as I adjusted the acoustic on my lap. "I didn't really want to do this, but someone back there convinced me to do it. So, this one's for you. This song is called Bad Bad Drug."

Feel the fever coming on,

it's burning up strong

Got me like a loaded gun,

the damage is done

Oh I can't stop now,

I'm in deep, I might as well drown

Cause you're a bad, bad drug

and I'm a mad, mad women

Cause I got it bad, bad for you

It's just a sad, sad story,

it's a bad storm warning

That I can't help but walk into

You're a bad, bad drug, you

Oh, but baby, baby do what you do

You're a bad, bad drug, you

But I do, I do, I do want you

Feel you running through my veins,

my heart is in chains

Poison of the sweetest kind,

I'm out of my mind

Lying on the floor,

I'd do anything to get me more

Cause you're a bad, bad drug

and I'm a mad, mad women

Cause I got it bad, bad for you

It's just a sad, sad story,

it's a bad storm warning

That I can't help but walk into

You're a bad, bad drug, you

Oh, but baby, baby do what you do

You're a bad, bad drug, you

But I do, I do, I do want you

But no matter how much you lie to me, oh

It's never enough to fix me

So get me stoned, cause I come home

The moment your venom hits me

You're a bad, bad drug and

I'm a mad, mad women

Cause I got it bad, bad for you

It's just a sad, sad story,

it's a bad storm warning

That I can't help but walk into

You're a bad, bad drug, you

Oh, but baby, baby do what you do

You're a bad, bad drug, you

But I do, I do, I do want you

I leaned back from the microphone and let out a small sigh. It was a new song I was working on. It was one that I wrote after the album was finished. When I looked up everyone's eyes were on me. The woman in the back that was sitting beside Norman and I started clapping and her husband soon joined her.

Norman stood up and let out a sharp whistle while joining the clapping. "Thank you," I whispered before setting the acoustic down and heading back to our table. Norman instantly wrapped me in his arms. "Ready to get out of here?" he whispered in my hair and I nodded into his chest.

Norman dropped some money on the table and we headed out the door. After getting in the car and starting to drive Norman's hand enclosed around mine. "That was a good song," Norman said. I felt a small smile playing on my lips. "Yeah, I like that one," I said.

Norman brought my hand to his mouth and kissed it. "What inspired it?" he asked me. I shrugged slightly. "A little bit of this and that," I said. I looked out the window. It was starting to get dark and rain had already started coming down. "Are you alright?" Norman asked me,

I glanced over at Norman to see he was trying to look at me while keeping his eyes on the road. I smiled and squeezed his hand. "Of course I am. This weather just makes me sleepy and makes me want to cuddle up with a blanket," I said. Norman squeezed my hand in return.

"Well you can definitely do that when we get home. As long as you let me join you," he said. I chuckled. "I'll think about it. But I think Eye in the Dark might get jealous," I said. Norman smiled. "He can join us too. I don't mind," he said before it fell into a comfortable silence.

Suddenly the car started to slow down a bit then we heard a steady thumping sound. Norman groaned and pulled the car over to the side of the road. The rain was still coming down hard. "I think we have a flat," I said feeling the car felt a little lower on my side.

Norman grabbed his jacket on and pulled up his hood. He popped the truck and looked over at me. "Alright, stay here. It'll only be a few minutes," he said before taking off into the storm. I turned the headlights on bright hoping that it could give Norman some light.

Soon I felt the car being lifted and heard Norman working to get the tire off. I rolled down the window just enough so I could get my head out of it. "Are you sure you don't need help?" I asked him over the rain. Norman didn't even look up from the task at hand.

"No darling. You stay in the car," he said. I rolled my eyes but rolled up the window listening to him. I turned on the overhead lights to look in the car. I turned around to look in the back seat and found exactly what I was looking for. I grabbed the umbrella and opened the door before sticking it out and opening it.

I hopped out of the car and shut the door. "I thought I told you to stay in the car," Norman said looking up at me. Even though he had a hood on his hair was still wet and stuck to the sides of his face. "Please, a little water isn't going to hurt me," I said.

Norman chuckled slightly and I put the umbrella over both of us. "You're something else, ya know that?" Norman said. I laughed enjoying the feel of the rain and looked over at him. "I'll take that as a good thing," I said. Norman looked up at me.

His eyes were a piercing blue it seemed like. The headlights gave off enough light to see. "Take that as a very good thing," Norman said before leaning in and leaving a soft kiss on my lips. When he pulled back my head instantly felt like it was spinning.

"I'm all done," Norman mumbled barely loud enough for me to hear. He quickly put all of the tools and now flat tire away in the trunk. He came back around and took the umbrella from me while opening my door. I slid in not caring if I was soaked.

Norman quickly joined me and started the car again. "What an adventurous night," he said with a laugh as he pulled out onto the road again. I laughed as well as his hand once again enclosed around mine. "I hope we have many more," I said. Norman instantly flashed a smile as he looked over at me. "Me too, babe. Me too."

I am sooooo sorry it has taken me this long to finally get a new chapter out. But trust me when I say my head definitely feels better after getting it out. I've had a little bit of inspiration from some outside sources. But I can't tell you about those because I'm adding some of them into the story. =)

Thank you so much for sticking with me and I hope you enjoyed this new chapter!

So Norman and Violet went out! I think it was much needed don't you? And Violet sang a new song! What did you think about it?
